The input is assumed to be a list of stops of length n in longitude, latitude format. The output is an origin-destination (OD) matrix of size O(n2), which takes O(n2) time to build. The element (i, j) in the matrix is the approximate driving distance between stop i and stop j on the route. Each approximate driving distance takes constant or O(1) time to compute. (The approximate driving distance appears in previous work by the author, published in URISA GIS-Pro ‘19 and CalGIS 2020.) This OD matrix is well-suited for solving large-scale and very large-scale VRP problems, since computing approximate driving distances is lightning fast. For instance, using real-world data, it took less than one (1) second to produce a route with 5,156 stops. The OD matrix can be used with any exact or approximation algorithm to find a route, including the nearest-neighbor approximation algorithm: Starting at an origin, the next closest stop is visited repeatedly, ending at the destination once all stops have been visited. Determining the next stop to visit takes linear or O(n) time to compute, and this is done O(n) times. This solution to the VRP is a polynomial-time, O(n2), approximation; it is not exact, but is extremely fast.","PeriodicalId":265375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Transportation Engineering and Technology","volume":"63 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115734591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The volume of vehicles on the road is the basis of traffic accident and traffic congestion. In urban sector the traffic congestion is normally high due to the green light time interval at four road intersections. The traffic light control and time setting are basically timer control operation at current traffic control management system, this shows that, the current system is not intelligent so that there is still heavy traffic congestion. It is vital to implement routinely adjusted schedule as per the real-time position of vehicles at urban cross road intersection. Now, there are various detector systems for traffic monitoring, like Inductive Loop microwave radar, laser, infrared, ultrasonic, magnetometer and video image processing. But they have relevant weakness, such as high cost and complex technology. As a more and more widely used technology, image processing plays an important role in the management and control of intelligent transportation system. Image processing systems are based on motion detection of vehicles, wherein computer vision algorithms extract vehicles from traffic video data for traffic density estimations. This paper is an analysis on scheduling of traffic light of traffic management system using Fuzzy Control Algorithm. With the increase of the number of vehicles and population, it will also improve the traffic jam and the mood of people because of the cause of jam. Rather than previous technology, it will be low cost and simple, which can be adopted in every place as far as possible. MATLAB tool was used to figure out the variables impact on scheduling of traffic light at urban traffic intersection. The vehicle number, vehicle speed, lane length and vehicle type variables are identified and tested against vehicle driving for conclusion on traffic management performance. From findings the results were identified as the vehicle number, vehicle speed, and vehicle type have significant positive relationship with vehicle driving. However, the lane length did not significantly affect the vehicle driving. This indicates that the lane length is less important in scheduling of traffic light at urban traffic intersection.","PeriodicalId":265375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Transportation Engineering and Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129216281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays the road traffic accidents have occurred by the tobacco consumption habits where mostly tobacco control law is avoided in Bangladesh. The study aims to investigate the effects of tobacco control law on road traffic accidents in Bangladesh. (2) Methods: This cross-sectional study included 424 questionnaire surveys with drivers (bus and truck) and 10 KIIs. Chi-squared tests were used to measure differences between various parameters (related to tobacco control law and RTAs), while logistic regression models were used to determine the relationship among tobacco control law, RTA risk factors and socio-demographic features. (3) Results: This study result shows 75.9% of respondents are tobacco users where 76.4% have knowledge about tobacco control law. About 93.4% know that smoking in public transports is strongly prohibited by the law where 80.7% of them abide by the tobacco control law daily. Therefore, about 64.6% of respondents were involved in RTAs. A statistically significant association was found between RTAs and knowledge of drivers about tobacco control law (p>0.013) and having knowledge on “smoking in public transports is prohibited by the law” (OR=2.945, p=0.016) is also strongly associated with road traffic accidents. (4) Conclusion: A vast majority of the heavy vehicle drivers are well known about tobacco control law and they are obliged to the law in public transports with satisfactory level.","PeriodicalId":265375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Transportation Engineering and Technology","volume":"642 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122957062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the US, the cost of congestion was $121 billion in 2012 and in 2015 alone Australia’s capital cities were estimated to have a combined congestion cost of $16 billion, expected increase to $37 billion by 2030. With the rapidly growing availability of data and the ability to analyse large data sets this paper investigates the question “What role can 'Big Data' play to assist with congestion management?” There is great interest and hype around 'Big Data' and this paper provides a summary of an investigation into its value to assist in relieving congestion. The paper explores the emerging types of large data sets, considers how data will be sourced and shared by vehicles and transport infrastructure in the future, ad explores some of the associated challenges. Despite the opportunities of Big Data not being fully realised it is already clear that it presents a significant tool for transport planners and managers around the world to assist in managing congestion. The research is based on research undertaken with the Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBEnrc).","PeriodicalId":265375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Transportation Engineering and Technology","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131668360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It generated a lot of researches on high-speed rail in transportation, tourism, economy, etc. However, there are few studies on the impact of high-speed rail on regional economic development by the analytic hierarchy process. On the basis of reading and collating related literature, the paper put forward the quantitative and qualitative methods in effect of high-speed rail (HSR) on regional economic development. According to the theory of Regional Economy development and the practical condition of high-speed rail in China, this paper provides a new evaluation index system including 2 layers (direct and indirect effects), and establishing 6 indexes for the effect of high-speed rail on regional economy in China. The weights of factors in index system are gave by using Analytic Hierarchy Process. The main conclusion from the paper is that high-speed rail a direct impact on the regional economy is greater than indirect And the following of the ranking result of the indicator regional: passenger traffic>node accessibility > regional investment benefit> tourism development> regional industrial structure> urbanization levels. This is not only a great significance to the development regional economy of China, but also applicable to other districts for the development of local economies by HSR.","PeriodicalId":265375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Transportation Engineering and Technology","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122358357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Orthogonal tests were designed to evaluate the effects of the admixtures on the brittleness. The flexural strengths and the compressive-flexural ratios were selected to evaluate the brittleness. The optimal proportion can be obtained when PP content was 1.6 kg/m3, and the content of fly ash, slag and silica fume was 10%, 20% and 3% of the cement content respectively. Using the optimal proportion, the 3d flexural strength of cement mortar was 5.65 MPa, which was 19% larger than the specimens without the addition of admixtures; the compressive-flexural ratio was 4.1, which was reduced by 19% in contrast to the control group. The flexural strength at 28d was 9.04 MPa, which was 13% higher than the control group; and the compressive-flexural ratio was 4.21, decreasing 24% compared to the control group. SEM technology was utilized to characterize the evolution of the microstructure induced by the addition of mineral admixtures and PP fiber. Results showed that mineral admixtures made the mortars denser, and the PP fiber formed a cross-linking structure, improving the brittle-resistance. The test results provided some guidance for the mixture design of pavement concrete with a high flexural strength and a low brittleness.","PeriodicalId":265375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Transportation Engineering and Technology","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126961895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moisture content plays a significant effect on its mechanical properties. In this study, a series of uniaxial compression tests were conducted to evaluate the effect of moisture content on the mechanical behaviors. During the tests, full stress-strain curves were obtained. The influence of water content on AAC stress-strain full curve shape, elastic modulus, peak stress, peak strain and ultimate strain was analyzed. The fitting equations of water content with peak stress, peak strain and elastic modulus were established. The results show that the brittleness of AAC decreased with the increased of water content, and the failure mode gradually transited from brittle to ductile failure. When the water content increased from 0% to 10%, obvious difference in the stress-strain curves can be observed. The peak stress decreased by 20.00% and 11.63% when the moisture content was 5% and 10%, respectively. However, when the water content increased from 10% to 40%, the peak stress decreased slowly. The rising section relation model of AAC stress-strain full curve can be fitted by cubic polynomial, which provided reference basis for finite element analysis.","PeriodicalId":265375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Transportation Engineering and Technology","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124258695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
