The states of Gujarat, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra are the most severely impacted by this illness. Antioxidants, effective physiotherapy exercises, and topical corticosteroid injections are among the treatment options available for oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF). Despite being widely used, there are few studies assessing the effectiveness and patient compliance of the conventionally used technique for physiotherapy in patients with OSMF, such as ice cream sticks, tapered screws, and Heister jaw opener.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000A device for physical rehabilitation that may be used at home was made using 3D printing technology. Ten patients participated in a pilot study that was carried out. These patients participated in the device’s pilot testing to assess the mechanical features and its ability to improve interincisal mouth opening, comfort (pain and control), and enjoyment. Comfort [Pain, comfort, control] with device use, ease of use [Portability] and satisfaction with device use.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000A statistically significant (P < 0.0006) improvement in the mean mouth opening of OSMF patients was shown by quantitative data. After 1 month of use, there was a 1.8 mm difference in mouth opening. This implies that the device worked well for these people. Based on feedback, the majority of patients reported that the device was comfortable, easy to use, and showed satisfaction with the device use.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000It was found that people with OSMF can open their mouth more with the use of a new physiotherapy device. In addition to pharmacological therapy, this pilot study needs more investigation with a bigger sample size and a randomized control trial. Considering that this method of managing OSMF seems to be effective.\u0000

Skeletal deep bite class II malocclusions with deficient mandible are treated with different functional appliances. There are several appliances for its correction in a growing child. However, fixed functional appliances are commonly used in the present clinical scenario for those non-compliant cases, who present late with less residual growth or no growth. This case was treated with a pre-adjusted edgewise appliance supplemented with a device known as Forsus Fatigue Resistant Device (FFRD) (3M Unitek Corp, California, USA). FFRD is a good alternative device for skeletal deep bite class II malocclusions instead of class II elastics in mild cases and place of Herbst appliance in severe cases. Biomechanical principles should be considered for those patients with the Forsus appliance to prevent complications. There are fewer complaints from the patients and treatment time is less.

Students initially have a firm commitment to finish their program. Unfortunately, multitudinous factors can drive them to drop out. Aside from knowing if self-efficacy and self-regulation beliefs play a significant role in students’ persistence, it behooves them to identify other factors of persistence.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000A qualitative method using focus group discussion (FGD) was employed to gain a more in-depth understanding of the other factors of persistence that might be present in the students. Ten respondents representing the different subtypes of regular and irregular students were invited to be part of the FGD. Those enrolled in the clinics were excluded from the study. Questions were carefully constructed with exploratory open-ended questions to probe respondents.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000Four themes were extracted from the content of the FGD on factors of persistence. They included (1) obedience to parents, (2) personal dreams, (3) social support, and (4) positive mindset.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000Dentistry is a challenging program. Self-regulation and self-efficacy play a significant role in students’ persistence and knowing the factors why they persist is important for educators and guidance counselors. New hypotheses in this area include the Golden proportion, golden percentage, and the recurrent esthetic dental (RED) proportion. This study used digital photos and computer analysis to examine the existing RED proportion associated with the widths of maxillary anterior teeth in people with permanent dentition.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000Sixty young adults (28 males and 32 females) were photographed from the front. Digital measurements were taken of all maxillary anterior teeth.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000To determine whether the RED proportion exists in the permanent dentition, the mean width proportion of the maxillary lateral incisor to central incisor and maxillary canine to lateral incisor was established. The average lateral incisor to central incisor width proportion of the right and left side was determined to be 70% and 71%, respectively. The average canine to lateral incisor width proportion was determined to be 80% and 78%, respectively.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000The maxillary anterior teeth’s consecutive widths did not exhibit RED proportions in the data that were examined. In dentistry, this concept is applied by utilizing the inherent property of the tooth, which exhibits fluorescence. There is a difference in diseased and sound tooth structure along with any bacterial by-product exhibiting fluorescence. Thus, the present review aims to briefly describe the theragnostic approaches in dentistry. With advancements in the diagnostics aids for better therapy and monitoring simultaneously, a revolution can be made in the field of dentistry. Theragnosis, being a novel concept, gives a way for diagnosis, therapy, and monitoring simultaneously allowing for any alteration in the treatment regimen based on patient response. This review would help the clinicians to adopt one of the newer technologies available in the field of dentistry for diagnosis, treatment planning and also monitor the response.

A dry socket occurs when the blood clot at the site of the tooth extraction dislodges before it has healed.
