To incorporate this idea we generalize Split SUSY model by splitting Z 3-symmetric NMSSM instead of MSSM. We have found that the strongly first order phase transition can take place in models where effective μ-parameter is of the order of splitting scale (so called μ-split scenario), while in models where μ is of the order of electroweak scale the phase transition is weaker.","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124322650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are addressed to a curious reader, beginning to work in a multidisciplinary area that involves experimental neutrino physics, astrophysics, nuclear physics and particle physics phenomenology. After an introduction to the methods and goals of neutrinos astronomy, we focus on core collapse supernovae, as (one of) the most promising astrophysical source of neutrinos. The first part is organized almost as a tale, the last part is a bit more technical. We discuss the impact of flavor oscillations on the supernova neutrino signal (=the change of perspective due to recent achievements) and consider one specific example of signal in detail. This shows that effects of oscillations are important, but astrophysical uncertainties should be thought as an essential systematics for a correct interpretation of future experimental data. Three appendices corroborate the t...","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134028813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is a tiny window in as far as these numbers contain only the information corresponding to about one line of text. Looking for a method to study these coupling and mass parameters, we put forward the idea of the multiple point principle as a first step. This principle states that nature adjusts the coupling and mass parameters so as to make many different vacuum states exist and have approximately the same energy densities (cosmological constants). As an illustrative application, we put up the proposal that a small increase (maybe only an infinitesimal one) in the value of the top quark coupling constant could lead to a new vacuum phase; in this new phase the binding of a bound state of 6 top quarks and 6 anti-top quarks becomes so strong as to become a tachyon and condense in the vacuum. Assuming th...","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132246808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hierarchy problem and suggestions for its resolution, including Little Higgs models, are discussed. The Multiple Point Principle (MPP) is introduced and used within the Standard Model (SM) to predict the top quark and Higgs particle masses. Mass matrix ansatze are considered; in particular we discuss the lightest family mass generation model, in which all the quark mixing angles are successfully expressed in terms of simple expressions involving quark mass ratios. It is argued that an underlying chiral flavour symmetry is responsible for the hierarchical texture of the fermion mass matrices. The phenomenology of neutrino mass matrices is briefly discussed.","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125464098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show that the nonperturbative effects determine the initial value for the perturbative evolution of the quark form factor and find their general structure with respect to the high energy asymptotics. Within the Wilson integral formalism which is natural for investigation of the soft, IR sensitive, part of the factorized form factor, we discuss the structure of the instanton induced effects in the evolution equation. It is demonstrated that the instanton contributions result in the finite renormalization of the subleading perturbative result and numerically are characterized by small factor reflecting the diluteness of the QCD vacuum within the instanton liquid model. The relevance of the IR renormalon induced effects in high energy asymptotic behavior is discussed. The consequences of the various analytization procedures of the strong coupling constant in the IR domain are considered.","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133741507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show that the modular invariance leads to the spectrum where the twisted sector tachyon, together with all other twisted sector fields, present in the Euclidean version of the orbifold, is absent. This makes it impossible to resolve the singularity by a marginal deformation of the worldsheet CFT. We also establish a relation between the resolution of rotational orbifolds in Euclidean and Lorentzian setups, and quantum groups. The analysis confirms the impossibility of resolving the cosmological orbifold singularity.","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129194376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
