Windowed Wigner-Ville distribution (WWVD) and smooth windowed Wigner-Ville distribution (SWWVD) are used to obtain the time-frequency representation (TFR) of the signal. Determination of parameter setting of WWVD and SWWVD eliminates the cross-terms and improve TFR. The accuracy of TFR is determined based on the mainlobe width and signal-to-interference ratio. It is found that the most accurate TFR can be achieved using SWWVD.","PeriodicalId":264814,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Symposium on Signal Processing and Its Applications, 2003. We show that the known pilot sequence can be exploited to estimate the chip-observation cross-correlation vector (needed to train the equalizer), and propose to use two low complexity reduced rank adaptive filtering algorithms for equalization: the stochastic gradient multistage Wiener filter (SG-MSWF), and the adaptive conjugate gradient reduced rank filter (ACGRRF). Simulations show that both algorithms attain close to optimal performance with reasonable complexity.","PeriodicalId":264814,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Symposium on Signal Processing and Its Applications, 2003. In contrast to conventional LP, WLP allows for the control of frequency resolution to closely match the response of the human auditory system. The residual from the inverse WLP filtering is analyzed by a wavelet filterbank designed to approximate the critical bands. We introduce a new similarity index s(/spl middot/,/spl middot/), and analyze the consistency of the estimator of the number of classes when k-means algorithm is used in conjunction with s(/spl middot/,/spl middot/). Various similarity indices are experimentally evaluated when comparing the \"true\" data partition with the partition obtained at each level of a hierarchical clustering tree. A novel approach, which allows minimising the architecture's error dynamic range and predicting its value according to the wordlength fractional precision, is suggested. This permits a hardware designer to preset the fractional precision for the sought implementation accuracy. Unfortunately, this method suffers from high side distortion when only one description is received. In order to overcome this limitation, over sampling of sequence via zero padding in the DFT domain has been proposed to improve correlation between subsequent samples, so achieving better estimation of the lost description. The price to be paid is a degradation of the performance in case both descriptions are received. In this paper we present analytical results of zero padded MDC, which can help in the selection of the best trade-off between performance and over sampling factor.","PeriodicalId":264814,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Symposium on Signal Processing and Its Applications, 2003.
