The banking sector is known as one of the service industries with a high rate of turnover in Malaysia. Some of the reason employees choose to leave an organisation are such as arduous and strenuous job environment as well as demanding workloads. When more and more employees leave the organization, it will cause unfavourable impacts on a bank’s performance and productivity. Previous literatures have revealed the relatedness of human resource practices (HRP) with turnover intention (TI). 283 questionnaires have been distributed to bank employees in Kuching, Malaysia. The collected data was analysed in the aspects of correlation and regression where the results show that HRP are negatively related to employee’s turnover intention. Results from the research demonstrated the importance for bank employers to further enhance its existing HRP to minimize employees' turnover intentions. Furthermore, implications as well as recommendation for future study are also provided by this research. This study extends the knowledge of the effectiveness of human resource practices by incorporating the various effects of human resources practices on turnover intention from the employee perspective. This study also recommended few strategies for enhancement of present HRP to lower bank employees’ intention to quit the job.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129091293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies have shown that Nigeria has been plagued with stunted and faltering economic growth over the years. Tax and other relevant macroeconomic policies are implemented by the government to smoothen out economic fluctuations but this has not been fully harnessed. A causal-effect study was conducted between tax revenue, gross fixed capital formation and economic growth using a 38-year time series data from 1981 to 2018 derived from CBN statistical bulletin. It was found that tax revenue (TR) had significant positive effect on Gross Domestic Product and Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) significantly controls the relationship between TR and GDP. It is evidenced that the country relied heavily on taxes as major source of revenue. The study recommended that government should widen its tax net, creates expansionary measures to enhance its tax revenue in order to boost its GDP. The government should also create an enabling environment for economy diversifications in order to increase revenue generated via other means than taxes in order to spur economic growth and avoid over-reliance on taxes.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127218436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has led to an integrated approach to measuring and managing risks known as enterprise risk management (ERM). At the same time, past studies on ERM disclosures have examined it within the context of book-based approach, which has not given the right and accurate information. However, this paper examined the significance of enterprise risk management and listed manufacturing firms' financial performance in Nigeria using both the book-based approach and the market-based approach. Relevant ERM theories in relation to financial performance such as Agency Theory, Stakeholders Theory, and Enterprise Risk Management Theory were examined. A panel data analysis was employed on time series and cross-sectional data of thirty listed manufacturing firms in Nigeria from 2010 to 2018. The random effect of the Hausman test was found to be more appropriate and hence adopted in interpreting the results of the analysis. The results confirm the a priori expectations that profitability ratio, liquidity ratio, market-based ration to risk board committee, the board size, firm size, and directors’ ownership all have varied impact on the firm’s profitability with varied statistical significance levels.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"359 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126693703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this research is to determine the direct effect of the inflation rate, Bank Indonesia (BI) rate, and Balance of Trade on the movement of Indonesia Rupiah (IDR) currency stability against US Dollar (USD) and indirect impact to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite index in Indonesia during the initial stage of the pandemic outbreak. To achieve the research objectives, this study uses the Rupiah exchange rate against USD and IDX Composite index as the dependent variables, while the Inflation rate (CPI), BI rate, and Balance of Trade as the independent variables. The quantitative methodology is used in this research by applying linear and multiple simple regression techniques. The results of this research show that the Inflation rate, BI rate, and Balance of Trade were significantly affecting the Rupiah exchange rate against the USD, and it found that the most dominant variable in this model was the BI rate. The Inflation rate and Balance of Trade partially had no direct significant influence toward the movement of the Rupiah exchange rate against the USD during the critical anticipation period of Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Furthermore, Rupiah exchange rate against the USD gave a significant influence toward the IDX Composite index.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124271344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because some organisations and institutions have in time past failed to fulfill their going concern objective despite their large firm size balance. This study examined the effect firm size has on the three levels of cash flow of emerging economies in listed banks in Africa. The study employed the use of multiple regression analysis with the aid of the STATA statistical software tool. The result obtained revealed that for the operating level of cash flow, all countries used in this paper, with the exception of Kenya should continue to employ the independent variable as a corporate strategy method as it increases operating cash inflow. The financing level of cash flow results recommended that all countries except Nigeria should continue to utilize firm size as a significant value was obtained from the regression. The investing level of cash flow results produced a significant P-value for all countries with the exception of Botswana. The study, therefore, recommended that listed banks in Kenya, Nigeria and Botswana should apply caution in employing the firm-size corporate strategy method. This is because it doesn’t guarantee cash inflow in all three levels of cash flows.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116167051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

CPI is calculated by dividing the cost of the market basket in a given year by the cost of the market basket in a Base Year and multiplied by 100. CPI is subject to the Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose (COICOP) in Saudi Arabia. Home expenditure items, such as housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, food, and beverages are considered high while weight, health, education, recreation, and culture are given low weight in the COICOP in Saudi Arabia. Holt’s linear model based on three equations and popularly known as double exponential smoothing or linear exponential model and the most commonly used method in forecasting data based on internal trends. Holt’s linear model is composed of three equations relating to smoothing, trend, and forecast. In this paper, the CPI data were taken monthly from the General Authority for Statistics, Saudi Arabia for the period from May 2019 to July 2020 with 15 realizations. The CPI for Saudi Arabia is predicted for the next twelve months and as observed from the trend of CPI, the prices of total purchased goods will increase in the next eleven months.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132521031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By conducting research on the international market, it was found that with a market size of $ 358.28 billion and a share of 85.99%, China is the largest crowdfunding market in the world. Also, it should be noted the Asia-Pacific region, as Australia took 4th place with funding of $ 1.49 billion, and South Korea - 5th place with $ 1.13 billion, we also find other countries in the Asia-Pacific region in the list of the largest crowdfunding countries in the world. The results of our study concluded that there are many players in crowdfunding in Europe, especially in the field of P2P lending, compared with the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region, as a whole it is a small region. What are the types of entrepreneurial skills and strategies offered by business incubators in the Kingdom of (Note 1) Eswatini? These are the pertinent questions that were taken on in this paper through a desktop literature analysis, to understand the role and impact of business incubators. Themes that emerged helped to gain better insight into the roles of business incubators as well as how they overcome identified challenges. This paper concludes that further study on the role of business incubators in Eswatini may take the form of an extensive, statistical approach using empirical data to unearth business incubators’ impact on SMEs’ competitiveness and sustainability. Further to this, it is suggested that available frameworks and policies from other successful countries be examined for the benefit of the Kingdom of Eswatini.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122246231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
