However, a major issue in research and practice remains overcoming barriers, such as a lack of trust preventing data sharing from penetrating all levels of business and fully exploiting its potential. Given the interplay of generating value from shared data and the barriers one needs to overcome, those wanting to share their data must balance what motivates them (incentives) and what hinders them (barriers) and solve the resulting conflicts (tensions). Solving these tensions enables organizations to make informed and sensible decisions on how to share data. Since sharing data has become more prevalent in research and practice, our paper tackles precisely that issue. We explore emerging tensions in inter-organizational data sharing using data generated from a systematic literature view and qualitative expert interviews. We complete our research with workshops to supplement the results and validate them.","PeriodicalId":263266,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 25th Conference on Business Informatics (CBI)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115216257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For instance, promptly locating certain medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and mobile beds, may be vital to saving hospital patients. Despite this, searching for medical equipment is frequently a manual procedure, which impacts the condition of patients and the workload of medical staff. This research contributes to digital transformation in health centers by improving medical work with the help of the Internet of Things, context awareness, and situation awareness. We propose a model to support the design of interactive software systems to locate objects to be used in health centers while managing their conditions in such a way that it will be possible to predict future events. Interviews were performed with a nurse, a radiologist, two pharmacists, and a biomedical engineer to understand better the use and management of medical equipment inside hospitals. The responses were compiled, analyzed, and applied to refine the model while demonstrating the feasibility of representing the situation awareness. A case study illustrates a common application where medical equipment is needed inside a hospital.","PeriodicalId":263266,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 25th Conference on Business Informatics (CBI)","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124225959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in many articles that subscribe to a DSR approach, the artifact is not clearly classified and identified. Very little attention has been given in the DSR literature on this topic, so guidelines are lacking. Based on artifact ontology, this paper proposes guidelines for design researchers in the IS domain on how to specify both the artifact and the research objective. For validation, the guidelines have been applied to a range of DSR papers. Our results show that the artifact definition guidelines can add to the precision of the research object specification.","PeriodicalId":263266,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 25th Conference on Business Informatics (CBI)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115675502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their complexity and heterogeneity make such systems often difficult to grasp for stakeholders and to control their development. Especially with regard to privacy, it is necessary for end-users and developers to understand the system's architecture and its behavior. In particular, users actively caring about privacy need to know how their data is affected by operating a CPS and how they can manage and protect it. Due to the technology-driven architecture of CPS, design approaches need to encompass privacy management functionality that can be adapted to individual scenarios. We propose a System-of-Systems architecture taking into account existing concepts from privacy management fields, including Privacy-by-Design and Privacy Languages. Each CPS component can be accessed via a privacy management interface that guides stakeholders to configure a CPS according to privacy requirements.","PeriodicalId":263266,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 25th Conference on Business Informatics (CBI)","volume":"174 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116584803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computer Vision Systems (CVS) can generate a similar or even more valuable response to a visual trigger than a human. Hence, there is a fundamental change driven by the implementation of these technologies. In this scope, this contribution aims to analyze the interrelationships between CVS, value proposition, and business model. For this purpose, a sequential mixed methods research approach was utilized, and a theoretical model based on the Task-Technology Fit was developed to analyze the interrelationships. As a result, relevant impact factors could be identified, which lead to the CSV affecting the value proposition and thus on the entire business model. An additional outcome represents the categorization of when business models are changed by CVS deployment and when completely new ones are formed.","PeriodicalId":263266,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 25th Conference on Business Informatics (CBI)","volume":"331 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122098895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This approach uses drag-and-drop elements, model-driven logic, and graphical user interfaces to democratize development, making it possible for developers or business analysts of various skill levels to produce applications. In this experiment, we compare the traditional development approach with a low-code one using a platform that executes models in DEMO language, as an information and workflow system. We make this comparison with NexusBRaNT as its object, a system projected to manage information of a research project, which targets health professionals who perform cognitive rehabilitation. Our findings show that, in this particular case, the low-code approach could deliver a high-quality and functional application with an impressive reduction in needed time and implementation complexity. Namely, the standard approach took 888 hours of work, while using low-code, just 47.5 hours of work were needed, a 94.63% reduction in the needed effort. Regarding complexity, the traditional approach led to a total of 12310 lines of code implementing the system, while the low-code approach led to a total of 1723 database records, a reduction of 86%. This is highly relevant, especially for organizations that need to rapidly develop and deploy applications. The results of this experiment have important implications for the future of software development, particularly in the context of digital transformation and the increasing demand for agile and rapid application development.","PeriodicalId":263266,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 25th Conference on Business Informatics (CBI)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128734702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually, the information involving the core entities are scattered in numerous siloed databases developed by different departments and divisions, thus hindering PAs from providing a comprehensive view of their core entities and their interactions. One type of core entity with a prominent role within PA involved in many temporal interactions (e.g., appointments, assignments) is the “public servant”. A special characteristic of public servants, compared to other types of entities, is that PAs need to systematically track them from the human resources point of view, recording for example information about their employment status throughout time. Recently, knowledge graphs have been proposed for structuring large collections of data in a meaningful way. Furthermore, in order to focus on the dynamics and changes over time of the data, a new approach of entity-event knowledge graphs has been introduced that captures the dynamics of knowledge considering events as first-class entities for knowledge representation. The aim of this paper is: 1) to propose an entity-event knowledge graph for the holistic governance of human resources management data in public administration and 2) apply it to the case of education personnel management.","PeriodicalId":263266,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 25th Conference on Business Informatics (CBI)","volume":"19 1-2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120914433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, many companies in the Internet of Things domain are still struggling to integrate smart services into their portfolios, and more research is needed to facilitate service innovation and adoption. We, therefore, identify common characteristics of the value propositions of B2B smart services and summarize them in a taxonomy. The taxonomy development follows established methods and is based on a systematic literature review of 31 scientific articles and the study of 100 empirical objects. To confirm the validity of our findings, we conduct two ex-post evaluations. Our research provides descriptive knowledge about B2B smart services that can serve as a foundation for further research on smart service innovation.","PeriodicalId":263266,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 25th Conference on Business Informatics (CBI)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125870107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing approaches define reference or base processes that may be customized to organisation-specific needs to use synergies and reduce costs. However, existing approaches strongly focus on the model perspective rather than on the implementation level of the Process-Aware Information System (PAIS). Software Product Line (SPL) Engineering deals with the implementation and maintenance of similar software products. An SPL comprises common core artefacts based on which a set of similar software products can be derived. This paper demonstrates how to build a PAIS Product Line by applying the concepts of SPL Engineering. The specified and immutable control flow of the PAIS Product Line eliminates dependencies among features, which reduces the challenges of SPL Engineering.
