Current tracking control of inverter is very important because current control ability affects control performance of plants. In this paper, the robust current control method of voltage source PWM inverter is presented; current is controlled to be exactly equal to the reference current under variations of load parameters and operating conditions. The influence of parameter variations is restrained by feedback gain based on Lyapunov's direct method. The feedback gain is calculated on-line to ensure system's stability with various disturbances.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121327633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Likely profit from the development for electricity supplied to the UK considering alternative routes, varying discount rates, possible carbon/fossil fuel levies, and fossil fuel emission constraints are illustrated in the comparisons that are made. It is concluded that power from Iceland is viable in all but the most exacting scenarios and the best landing point for the cable is the North of Scotland. There are no technical reasons why the Link should not proceed. There would not seem to be significant advantages in tying in existing national markets in The Netherlands and Norway at this time should the development go ahead. The Link should be designed for base-load operation at high load factor, and the most advantageous return on capital em...","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128678770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estimation process is based on a recursive least squares method. It is applied to a speed sensorless induction motor drive scheme in order to implement slip adaptation. A discrete approach is considered in which an induction motor model written in form of difference equations is used by the estimation algorithm. All the associated mathematical developments are shown. Simulation results are used to verify the performance of the proposed rotor resistance estimator.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115931855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The capabilities of flexible ac transmission systems (FACTS) equipment are not only constrained by their thermal limits and the steady-state security limits, but also limited by their feasibility limits. After the detailed analyses have been made on the use of optimal multiplier u as a new predictor to estimate the boundary point of the feasibility region, an algorithm for deteiTnirung the UPFC regulating capability is proposed. The approach is then compared with minimum singular value decomposition on the IEEE 30 bus system. The results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133012837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The parameters of interest are; the resistance and inductance of the armature windings (Ra.Lt). the motor inertia (J), the damping constant (D), the torque and back emf constant (K) and the load torque constant (μ.). The data used are the motor input voltage, and the corresponding rotor speed. It is assumed that the trajectory of the motor speed as well as the corresponding input voltage are known and sampled at a preselected rate. Simulation results for a separately excited dc motor used in robotics are reported showing good agreement with actual parameter values.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132042242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A multi-area unit commitement model based on Capacity Utilization Factor(CUF) and sequential techniques including dc(direct current) power flow module is developed to estimate the constrained(both system and transmission)inter-area energy exchange and its associated production cost. The model is applied to a vast and complex Indian Power System with two different areas having different operating characteristics.The validity of the model is tested by comparing the solutions with those obtained by a multi-area combined Truncated Dynamic Programming (DP-TC) based method. The results indicate that inter-area energy exchange leads to a better optimal power system operation and substantial cost savings may be achieved by utilizing the low cost energy resources and reserved energy in one area to another area which has higher cost of energy production.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123983227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identification is realized by applying two classes of algorithm to the measurable inputs/outputs of the process: The first deals with Reinitialized Partial time Moment modeling, which can be interpreted as an equation error method. The model parameters are computed by means of Least Square or Instrumental Variable algorithms. The second is based on the output error method. The model parameters are estimated by minimizing the output error by means of a Non Linear Programming according to the Marquardt algorithm.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124083789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Real time operational verification of the model is achieved by interfacing the drive system to a computer. The steady state torque produced by the motor is described as a function of firing angle, extinction angle and speed. The model concentrates on the open loop transfer functions of induction machines for small perturbations in motor speed and firing angles. The non-linear characteristics of the open loop transfer function has been discussed. The solutions presented here can lead to a comprehensive closed loop analysis for the dynamic behaviour of induction motors in industrial applications.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130670045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of the existing performance indices for voltage contingency selection has been critically reviewed. The proposed performance indices are able to eliminate misranking and masking effects. The post-outage quantities have been computed, using a new set of distribution factors, defined in terms of pre-outage real and reactive power flows in transmission lines/ outputs of generators. The proposed algorithm has been tested on IEEE 14-bus system and a practical 75-bus Indian system.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128005583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All the methods of analysis for the power system transient stability have been integrated in the software. The software is specifically useful for power engineers to comprehend the transient stability methods. A distinctive feature of this package is the user-friendly method for problem definition. Problems are defined by selecting options from menus without typical editor-like entry approach, as used in other mathematical software, which normally have their own strict syntax. On-line graphics capability, to enhance the comprehension of concepts, have been incorporated.","PeriodicalId":262115,"journal":{"name":"Electric Machines and Power Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1998-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123934965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
