Recently, the addition of updated invalidation reports (UIR) has been proposed. The IR+UIR scheme achieves a much shorter query delay than the basic IR scheme. Previous researches were based on two impractical simplifying assumptions: 1) broadcast traffic is error-free and 2) no other downlink traffic exists in the system. IR partitioning reconstruction lifts these two assumptions on the basic IR and IR+UIR. The (IR partitioning, reconstruction) achieves the following 1) reduces the probability of corruption in IR, 2) improves channel utilization, 3) reduces the average delay in other downlink traffic. However, there are still some drawbacks. One of the drawbacks is the problem with long disconnection. The major contribution for this paper is to propose an adaptive cache invalidation report in the server either broadcasting invalidation reports segments (IRseg+UIR) or bit sequences (BSs) based on the client disconnection time while spending little uplink and downlink cost. Simulation results have shown, and minimized query delay and data packet delay and improved the number of uplink per successful query using the proposed algorithm","PeriodicalId":261853,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems","volume":"216 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128875583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, traditional fuzzy controllers suffer from the rule explosion phenomenon. We propose here a hierarchical scheme to implement the fuzzy system and consequently relax the rule explosion problem. Furthermore, since payloads are normally varying, robotic models are uncertain. We propose a fuzzy-logic based dynamic observer to estimate the modeling uncertainties and external disturbances. The estimated model is incorporated within the control law to guarantee an acceptable tracking performance. We prove that the proposed adaptive fuzzy controller assures that all signals are uniformly ultimately bounded. Simulation results of a two-link robot arm are reported to confirm the validity of our theoretical results.","PeriodicalId":261853,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116760245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Coastal restoration practitioners are developing new and innovative ways to increase the efficiency and success of restoration efforts. These new methods range considerably in their scale of application, from addressing small, site-specific issues, to having a larger, regional or national focus. The proposed design of the data warehouse improves the decision capabilities of the existing independent coastal restoration decision support systems. The unified model also allows flexibility of adding new restoration projects in future. In this paper, we first try to identify the data warehousing design implications, and propose a multidimensional spatial model that supports the analyses. We then present sample queries, and define measures by which the coastal restoration data model can be evaluated","PeriodicalId":261853,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128952027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, GPS receivers may encounter frequent GPS outages within urban areas where satellite signals are blocked. In order to overcome this problem, GPS is usually combined with inertial sensors (accelerometers and gyroscopes) mounted inside the vehicle to obtain a reliable navigation solution, especially during GPS outages. Neuro-fuzzy modules were used to fuse data from GPS and inertial sensors in real-time. This research optimizes the operation of these modules by implementing a temporal window-based cross-validation approach during the update procedure. A field test data was used to examine the performance of the proposed method and the results discuss the merits and the limitations of the proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":261853,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123913838","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fuzzy controller is constructed from fuzzy feedback linearization controller whose parameters are adjusted indirectly from the estimates of plant parameters. The adaptation law adjusts the controller parameters on-line so that the plant outputs tracks the reference model outputs. Among these factors are the signal to noise ratio, the estimation technique, the number of sinusoids and their relative values. An estimation technique was suggested recently that yields the required frequencies as the generalized eigenvalues of two matrices formed from samples of the sinusoids and a filtered signal of these sinusoids. It was found that the sampling time has a profound effect on the accuracy of the resulting estimates. Recent interest in eigenstructure techniques in engineering applications led to increasing interest in the mathematical literature addressing the generalized eigenproblem. Recent studies exposed the relation between the condition of the generalized eigenproblem and the condition of a corresponding Vandermonde matrix. In this paper it is shown that the condition of the Vandermonde matrix can be influenced by the choice of the sampling time, consequently improving the generalized eigenproblem condition and making the frequency estimation technique more immune to noise","PeriodicalId":261853,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128436756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pages in the hidden Web are dynamically generated in response to queries submitted via the search forms. In this paper, a new algorithm for extracting labels from multi-attribute (M-A) search form fields is proposed. A technique for automatic query generation for single-attribute (S-A) search forms is also provided in order to enhance the performance of the overall domain-specific hidden Web crawlers. The innovation of (LEHW) algorithm is its capability to distinguish between (S-A) and (M-A) forms; so that the capability of dealing with both of them, unlike most hidden Web crawlers that ignore either of them. Embedding of the proposed algorithm within the overall framework of the HW crawler is evaluated through experiments using real Web sites. There are many algorithms that have been developed to enhance the resolution of images. In this paper, we undertake a study for evaluating and comparing three of these algorithms. These three algorithms are: neural network algorithm, wavelet extrema extrapolation algorithm, and hallucinating faces algorithm. Our study indicated that: the better performance comes at the expense of higher complexity, large database, and more computational time. The hallucinating faces algorithm gives the largest peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) when magnifying low dimensional faces and gives better output when the database contains larger number of images. The neural network algorithm gives better results for high dimensional faces, but it needs long time for training. The wavelet extrema extrapolation algorithm gives better results for high dimensional faces than for low dimensional faces. The performance of these three algorithms gets better as the dimension of input faces gets higher and only the hallucinating faces can give good results for lower dimensional faces such as 64times48 pixels","PeriodicalId":261853,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132385675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main focus of this paper is to propose MANAGE1 as a design of a new stream cipher system to be used for data encryption in CDMA wireless networks. This new cipher system is intended to replace the offered data encryption algorithm in CDMA networks known as ORYX. The proposed cipher system is being assessed from different aspects. The first aspect addresses the period and linear complexity profiles of the generated keystream. The second is the statistical properties of the keystream, which are being tested using the standard statistical tests. It is shown that MANAGE1 cipher system improves the practical security over the ORYX, thus ensuring that data security in CDMA networks becomes more reliable to suit the high demand of secure data transmissions in the next generation of wireless communications","PeriodicalId":261853,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115758221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
