Compare to the mainstream MOOC platforms like Coursera or EdX which are basically learning management systems open to external students, the proposed solution offers built-in social media features to boost opportunistic interaction and informal exchanges between students.","PeriodicalId":261564,"journal":{"name":"2013 12th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124240472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To construct an ILP we use the education content model based on a multi-level system of generalized professional competencies that determines the training results at each level of professional education. The developed education content model describes the requirements of educational and professional standards, the content of generalized professional competencies for each level, the list of curriculum courses, the course contents, and the interconnection between courses and competencies. We offer a two-level individual learning path model based on a marked Petri net. The first level implies the choice of training direction and educational program at a certain level of professional education. The second level determines the course choice from the variable part of the educational program. The student competency level corresponds to the Petri net marking. The learning process is modeled as marking changes by the transitions in the Petri net. For searching of an optimum ILP we use algorithm based on tree of reachability for Petri net. We are developing a distributed information system based on the proposed methods as a web-resource available for students and employers.","PeriodicalId":261564,"journal":{"name":"2013 12th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134267304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A developed and implemented blended learning model was created along the lines of Flex model, where the content, instruction and continuous assessment are delivered to students by using e-learning system eCampus. Students are provided with the variety of e-learning resources and activities along with obligatory face-to-face teaching and laboratory work. In order to estimate the efficiency of the applied blended learning model in comparison with traditional learning, a summative analysis has been performed based on an analysis of the success of two student test groups.","PeriodicalId":261564,"journal":{"name":"2013 12th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134305930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, novice researchers have little skills in composing semantic structure to create P-documents. This paper addresses the issue of how to develop skills in composing semantic structure of P-documents for novice researchers in a research group. Our approach to this issue is to provide the novices with presentation schema (P-schema) that is a typical semantic structure for the research group. In addition, they are expected to compose the semantic structure with P-schema not only in the context of creating P-documents but also in the context of learning P-documents the expert/intermediate researchers have created. In this paper, we also report a case study whose purpose was to investigate whether skill in composing semantic structure could be transferred from learning to creating P-documents.","PeriodicalId":261564,"journal":{"name":"2013 12th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115184273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are several attributes such as importance of concepts or relationships between them in the materials that learners would often miss even in concept map generation. The purpose of this work is to give learners with pseudo-haptic feedback in the concept map generation process to enhance an awareness of such attributes. This paper discusses how to provide learners with pseudo-haptic feedback via touch operations for concept map generation with tablet media and what kind of cognitive effects the pseudo-haptic feedback could produce. In addition, this paper reports a case study with the tool we have developed on iPad. The results suggest the possibility of providing pseudo-haptic feedback and its cognitive effects.","PeriodicalId":261564,"journal":{"name":"2013 12th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129249875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a lecturer, regular updates of contents for on-going courses are really important because contents should reflect the learners' attributes as well as for corrections and additions of contents. Although this kind of dynamics is preferred for actual situation, differential updates of contents suitable for distributed LMSs are not implemented on popular open source LMS, Moodle. This paper introduces the dynamic synchronization between distributed Moodle systems and reports the synchronization results between Moodle 2.0 series systems. The proposed method has been implemented on Moodle for versions 2.0 series up to 2.3 as the extension of the previously proposed method developed for Moodle 1.9.","PeriodicalId":261564,"journal":{"name":"2013 12th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114362287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
