Deep learning algorithms have produced amazing results in medical imaging applications including tumor identification. Most of this field's research has concentrated on applying CNN algorithms like VGG16, DNN, and ANN to this problem. This work describes the identification and classification of brain tumors using the Python Imaging Library (PIL) and the VGG16 deep learning algorithm. A dataset of 7000 MRI pictures categorized by tumor type served as the foundation for the research. The main objective of this study was to develop a high-efficiency, high-accuracy model. We suggested utilizing the VGG16 architecture and preprocessing images with PIL to ensure consistent images for training on a sizable dataset of brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images. A novel technique we have used in our work is one that can analyze a single image and predict the presence of a tumor from the results. The research's methods produced robust tumor detection across the dataset with 96, 9% accuracy, indicating the value of the method in helping medical professionals make informed decisions when diagnosing the presence of tumors.","PeriodicalId":261144,"journal":{"name":"Bioengineering Studies","volume":"9 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139264349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, the use of physical environmental purification methods is very expensive and can even cause environmental pollution. Phytoremediation is a cheap and accessible method that uses the potential of plants to remove or destroy dangerous contaminants from water, soil, and air. One of the major problems in Phytoremediation is that the process is time-consuming.  This can be overcome by adding compounds such as nanoparticles in order to increase the speed. Special care must be given to using the correct doses of nanoparticles because they pass through cells and biological membranes, which may cause contaminations. Therefore, the use of appropriate doses of nanoparticles will eventually accelerate the phytoremediation process. The purpose of this study is to assess the recent discoveries in the Phytoremediation process and its methods. ","PeriodicalId":261144,"journal":{"name":"Bioengineering Studies","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124724620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Approximately 30% of this population is shared by all humans, but the remaining 70% is unique to each individual, hence gut microbiota serves as an identity card. Gut microbiota play numerous functions in the body's defense against invasion, the synthesis of important vitamins, the regulation of immunological marker production, and others.  Researchers observed several data when analyzing bacteria species present in HIV-infected individuals using the 16S rRNA sequencing approach, concluding that HIV-infected people had a high number of Prevotella species, while Lachnospiraceae, Christensenellaceae, Ruminococcaceae, and Bacteroidaceae were all less. Those microbiota shifts may help explain how gut-related disorders interact with HIV. Researchers have discovered various methods for altering the composition of the gut microbiota in order to achieve a healthy gut. This review will focus on and highlight recent discoveries in Gut microbiota shifts during HIV infection and emphasize the immune response and treatment options.","PeriodicalId":261144,"journal":{"name":"Bioengineering Studies","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114798088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are essential for many biological processes but can also be toxic to humans when present in high concentrations. Medical plants, which are used for their therapeutic properties, may accumulate heavy metals in the soil. The accumulation of heavy metals in medical plants poses a significant risk to human health as these plants are often consumed as herbal remedies or dietary supplements. Long-term exposure to heavy metals such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), and arsenic (As) can cause serious health problems such as neurological damage, kidney damage, cancer and developmental disorders. Therefore, it is important to ensure that medical plants are grown in areas with free or less contamination by heavy metals. Additionally, proper processing techniques should be employed to remove any residual heavy metal content before consumption. This review article tries to address and review related scientific papers in regard to heavy metals in medical plants.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":261144,"journal":{"name":"Bioengineering Studies","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127428211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) accounts for 15% of cases and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for 85% of cases. Although many people believe that smoking is the primary cause of lung cancer, there are numerous other contributing factors as well. Nonsmokers have a higher risk of lung cancer from radon than smokers do. Smoke from household fuel, infections caused by bacteria and viruses, as well as inflammatory diseases like asthma and sarcoidosis, are additional risk factors for nonsmokers to develop lung cancer. This review aims to summarize recent studies of SCLC and NSCLC cases in the world and asses the methods used for diagnosis. Further, the most recent risk factors and characteristics of the disease, particularly in nonsmokers, as are novel treatment options, are outlined in this review.","PeriodicalId":261144,"journal":{"name":"Bioengineering Studies","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134640812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the discovery of isoagglutinin, the main proof has been made that blood group inheritance is encoded in genes which established the theory of four blood groups. Moreover, the presence of certain antibodies, later known as Rh factors, directly reflects the ability to accept or reject of blood group.  Several methods of detection of Rh factor have been used in transfusion medicine which helps in diagnostic procedures. This is of great importance, especially during pregnancies or during blood donation processes. Molecular approaches enable the identification and analysis of blood that is negative for specific antigens against which a patient may have generated antibodies, the detection and analysis of antibodies, and the identification of donors who are negative for common antigens.","PeriodicalId":261144,"journal":{"name":"Bioengineering Studies","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128871711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, we focused on a literature review regarding lymphoma and deregulated pathways that are hallmarks of lymphoma development. Among others, PI3K/AKT, NF-ĸB and JAK/STAT pathways are the most common deregulated ones. These signaling pathways are crucial for numerous cellular processes and possible deregulation can mainly lead to uncontrolled cell division and inhibition of apoptosis. A literature review was performed by using databases including PubMed, PubMed Central and Google Scholar from where the most recent and valuable studies were selected.","PeriodicalId":261144,"journal":{"name":"Bioengineering Studies","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126605994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both aerobic and resistance training have many beneficial effects on the body as well as the aging process. In humans, aging is a process that changes many biological mechanisms, from the molecular to the physical level, and affects mental and cardiorespiratory health, flexibility and muscle function. Muscle morphology, fiber size, and functional characteristics, including strength, are maintained by lifelong physical activity. The molecular mechanisms by which older humans maintain musculoskeletal function are of great interest, particularly in developed countries with aging populations. In cells, telomerase activity and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) are indispensable antiaging factors for cellular survival. Physical activity induces the increase in telomerase activity and NAD+ level with anti-aging effects in the cells. Barley stripe disease caused by Pyrenophora graminea which causes yield decreases in barley was reported in various regions of Turkey. Controlling the disease requires knowledge of disease distribution and an understanding of cultivar responses to the pathogen and variability in the pathogen populations. Genetic resistance is a sustainable and economic way to combat the disease. In this review, the distribution and occurrence of the disease in some parts of Turkey and studies about the resistance status of some genotypes are presented.","PeriodicalId":261144,"journal":{"name":"Bioengineering Studies","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127236015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
