The investigation comprised of 27 treatment combinations formed by combining three bud load levels (B1-96 buds/vine), (B2 -128 buds/ vine) and (B3-160 buds/vine), three fertilizer doses F1=FYM (50 kg/vine) + recommended dose (NPK: 555, 227, 470g/vine), F2=FYM (50 kg/vine)+ 2 times recommended dose (NPK: 1110, 454, 940g/vine), F3=FYM (50 kg/vine)+ 3 times recommended dose (NPK: 1665, 681, 1410g/vine) and three micronutrient levels viz. M1 (Solubor 0.1%), M2 (ZnSO4 0.4%) and M3 (Solubor 0.1% + ZnSO4 0.4%) replicated three times with a double plot size in a completely randomized block design. The interaction B2F2M1 (Bud load B2- 128 buds/vine, fertilizer dose F2 (FYM-50 kg/vine + 2 times recommended dose-NPK: 1110, 454, 940 g/vine) and micronutrient M1- (Solubor 0.1%) ) recorded the maximum percentage of berry weight, berry length, TSS, total sugars and minimum percentage of shot berries . To understand the level of adoption of the recommended pesticide spray schedule and the level of pesticide use in Kashmir Valley, a survey of 200 respondents from two blocks each from four districts of South Kashmir including Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, and Anantnag was conducted in 2021 and 2022. Primary data was collected in the form of a questionnaire keeping objectives into consideration. The study revealed that only 1/4th of respondents (25.9%) adopted >80% of the spray schedule. 27.84, 25.36, and 20.89 percent of respondents adopted 60-80%, 40-60%, and < 40% of the spray schedule, receptively. Farmers of district Pulwama used maximum pesticide sprays (17.8) while as Anantnag growers sprayed minimum pesticides (14.2). Pesticide costs during the apple growing season were maximum (Rs.109870/ha) in Pulwama and minimum in district Kulgam (Rs.97360/ha). Similarly, pesticide productivity in terms of pesticide cost per kg of apple fruit varied and ranged between Rs.7.07/kg in district Shopian to Rs.8.99/kg in Anantnag.","PeriodicalId":260908,"journal":{"name":"SKUAST Journal of Research","volume":"27 2","pages":"275-281"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.indianjournals.com/ijor.aspx?target=ijor:skuastjr&volume=27&issue=2&article=014&type=pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147922755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, we aim to evaluate Awareness, Perceptions, and Opinions towards Artificial intelligence (AI) among University students in Kashmir. In the present study 400 students were selected at random via online/offline mode from different higher educational institutes of Kashmir valley during November 2022 to May 2023 using well developed validated questionnaire.The data collected was analysed statistically using appropriate statistical tools. The study revealed that majority of students were aware of AI and were of the opinion that AI would assist professionals working in different fields in becoming better with the widespread use of AI. Statistically, non significant difference in perception of male and female students towards AI was observed (P>0.05). Further, majority of the students had positive perceptions about the concepts, benefits, and implementation of AI. Moreover, most students under study indicated that there is a need for more education and training in the field of AI. Therefore, early exposure to content related to AI in the curriculum is an essential step to help in the wide use of these technologies in the graduates’ future careers.","PeriodicalId":260908,"journal":{"name":"SKUAST Journal of Research","volume":"27 1","pages":"46-53"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.indianjournals.com/ijor.aspx?target=ijor:skuastjr&volume=27&issue=1&article=004&type=pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147921183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 76 sheep farmers were interviewed by face-to-face contact using a random sampling technique at their homes through a pre-structured questionnaire. The socio-economic status of sheep farmers revealed that 44.15% of farmers belonged to the middle age group (40-60 years), 55.85 % were living in the nuclear family system, and 76.62 % were married. The average family size of 7.30±2.02 was reported by respondents. Maximum farmers (45.45%) had adopted crop farming+livestock rearing as their main occupation, followed by labour+livestock only (37.66%). The maximum respondents were illiterate (51.95%), followed by matriculate and under-matric (31.17% and 16.88%). The housing system revealed that 100% of sheep farmers had pucca houses with an average±SE land holding of 10.61±2.03, ranging from 1 to 40 Kanals. Pucca animal sheds were predominant (72.73%) to protect the animals from extreme weather and predators. Although all casts were observed associated with sheep farming; however, the majority of the respondents were chopans (29.87%), followed by Bhat (12.99 %). Overall flock size of 32.69±3.83 with a range of 5-95 was observed in all four CD blocks of Budgam. The highest (46.20±8.14) flock size was observed in the Budgam block, and the lowest (21.90±5.75) in Khansahib. 90% of respondents were male, and only 10% were female. It is concluded from the study that sheep farming in Budgam is mainly practiced by poor, middle-aged, male, and illiterate people having marginal land holdings and low income, with agriculture as the main occupation and sheep as a secondary source of income.","PeriodicalId":260908,"journal":{"name":"SKUAST Journal of Research","volume":"27 2","pages":"254-260"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.indianjournals.com/ijor.aspx?target=ijor:skuastjr&volume=27&issue=2&article=011&type=pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147903808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
