The proposed solution comes as part of the recent extensive effort of developing image processing solutions that facilitate a better understanding of art. Each painting is described with low-level features motivated by art theory (3D RGB Histograms and Gabor Energy Features). The paper presents the possible use of eight classifiers, the best performance being obtained using a Multi Class Classifier. The system's performance is evaluated on a database containing 1800 paintings belonging to 15 different painters, proving to outperform the reported state of the art.","PeriodicalId":260263,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems ISSCS2013","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132565656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the recent years, a large variety of image inpainting algorithms have been proposed in the literature. This paper presents a comparison between two exemplar based image inpainting algorithms, in the case of SONAR images. A number of simulations on real SONAR images prove the effectiveness of these algorithms in reconstructing the affected parts of the images. The performance is analyzed in terms of the visual quality and comparing the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio.","PeriodicalId":260263,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems ISSCS2013","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132912856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper describes the whole procedure of the automated analysis of the disorder while the greatest attention is paid to a parameterization. In the case of speech signal analysis, the state-of-the-art features evaluating a presence of hoarseness, breathiness and hypernasality are mentioned. Nonlinear dynamic parameters and parameters derived from the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) are compared. Based on the tests, from the point of description of a noise component of signal, the best results were obtained using the approximation entropy, the largest Lyapunov exponent and parameters based on Teager-Kaiser energy operator, which is calculated from the first intrinsic mode function (IMF). In the case of handwritten text analysis, the most used exercises describing a tremor and movement dynamics are mentioned. The new approaches of hand movement analysis at a time when the pen tip does not touch the paper have been also proposed. Finally the paper discusses different applications of speech signal and handwriting text parameterization.","PeriodicalId":260263,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems ISSCS2013","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133003096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A WiMAX mesh node is emulated by interconnecting via Ethernet link a Base Station and a Subscriber Station. To avoid interference between these two nodes, they are configured to operate on different frequency bands. This solution can be used to build wireless backhaul networks for rural areas or for public safety scenarios. To validate it, an experimental platform consisting of both a real and a simulated part was developed. The simulated part is implemented in OPNET, and is injected with real time traffic from the real part of the experimental platform, using the System in the Loop function.","PeriodicalId":260263,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems ISSCS2013","volume":"74 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116314218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The divergence is considered in the case of strange attractors, as an alternative of classical Lyapunov exponents. The new algorithm makes use of the Euclidean distance in order to define the local divergence. It is, then, possible to analyze the geometry of the attractor through layers of same divergence, such as a tomography. The algorithm is applied, as an example, to the Colpitts chaotic oscillator.","PeriodicalId":260263,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems ISSCS2013","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123659775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In spatial modulation scheme with trellis coding (SM-TC) the transmitter encodes the information bits before selecting the transmit antenna and transmitted symbol indexes. The SM-TC scheme is a generalization of the turbo trellis coded SM (TTCSM) scheme, which encodes just the information bits used to select the transmit antenna index. The performances of the SM-TC scheme can be considerably enhanced by using parallel concatenated turbo coding. The new SM-TTC scheme combines the SM-TC transmission with conventional parallel turbo trellis-coded modulation (TTCM). The bit error rate (BER) performances are evaluated using simulations for PSK-SM-TTC transmissions over stationary Rayleigh, Rician, and spatially correlated (SC) fading channels with additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). Simulation results reveal that the SM-TTC scheme performs better than the previous TTCSM scheme when transmitting over a SC fading channel, especially for a large number of receive antennas.","PeriodicalId":260263,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems ISSCS2013","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123451454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
