In order to get high performance for the data access, we proposed a cache framework, where vector data are stored in distributed main memories. We will describe our framework on system level and functional level. On system level, we employ Master-Slave model to be the basic architecture of our cache system and take “read-your-write” consistency as our consistency base line. On functional level, there are three key characteristics in our framework: first, we put all the vector data into distributed memories instead of disks and take the geographical feature as basic storage unit; second, we employ the Geohash algorithm as distributed spatial index. Third, we take asynchronous, scheduled total data persistency, which help us to rebuild the cache. Compared with traditional spatial database, we bring down the Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation and Durability (ACID) demands to get high performance. Topological relationships are not ensured either here. Redis, an open-source Key/Value store project, is employed to be the base of our framework. In the experiment we carried out, the data access performance is significantly speeded up.","PeriodicalId":259976,"journal":{"name":"2012 20th International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133805159","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hierarchical spatial reasoning can solve the efficiency problem, but it cannot guarantee the reasonableness. As we know, road travel efficiency varies at different positions in the urban road network and the reasonableness of path query has close relation to the road selectivity. Since static road evaluation methods used in the past are not suitable in public travel information service, we propose an approach to evaluate road selectivity based on the betweenness centrality calculation in graph theory. By using this approach, we estimate the urban road travel efficiency in dynamic urban road environment that can reveal the traffic smoothness and connectivity at different time windows. The empirical results show that this approach can overcome the limitation caused by data boundaries. Besides, the hierarchical characteristics presented by selectivity evaluation results can be used as a hierarchical criterion in the hierarchical spatial reasoning (HSR) algorithm to improve the reasonableness of the path query result.","PeriodicalId":259976,"journal":{"name":"2012 20th International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127715003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A theme-based data integration model is proposed for MSAE data integration based on the themes of geomorphology, topography, and stratigraphy. The efficiencies of MSAE data management and use are consequently improved. Then a feature-based and application-oriented data fusion model is proposed for the full use and visual representation of the MSAE data. Evaluation of the two proposed models and their results are then made. With the successful application of the marine pipe route inspection (MPRI) in Hangzhou Bay, a GIS prototype system is constructed. All these studies show that the proposed models can improve the efficiencies of data management and use, meet the data needs of higher level applications, and implement the consistent visual data representation, in the field of MSAE. It can provide some references to the related applications in the field.","PeriodicalId":259976,"journal":{"name":"2012 20th International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126662806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such approaches have been criticized for ignoring the differences which are caused by different distance factors. The M2FCA method addresses the internal spatial distribution problem by deriving fire area data from a smaller unit, hexagon cell. The potential cross border demand-supply interaction is taken into consideration by using circles of reasonable radius around each hexagon cell centroid as the basic spatial units, which can encompass areas on either side of an administrative border. After division of maximum threshold range which fire brigade could reach in time, the M2FCA method considers the demand point within the threshold have different access to the fire fighting service capacity during the process of fire-fighting spatial accessibility measurement study of Chengbaqu (former) Beijing city. The result shows that the improved M2FCA could reveal more detailed differences of spatial distribution in larger region, it could measure fire-fighting spatial accessibility precisely, it could accurately reveal the real fire-fighting service capacity people obtain, and predicate the areas without fire-fighting service, therefore, M2FCA could provide the basis for relevant authority to make decisions for planning and selecting sites.","PeriodicalId":259976,"journal":{"name":"2012 20th International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"234 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115596721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Alisan Creek watershed in central Taiwan was one of serious hazard areas. This study proposed (1) two-layer SOM-based classifier coupled with pre- and post-typhoon SPOT satellite images to extract accurate landslide, (2) the concept of landslide slope unit (LSU) derived from automated watershed modeling delineation to calculate spatial characteristics of the landslide and (3) DBSCAN-based model to analyze the spatial correlations at landslides to assess the priority of landslide treatment sites. The evaluated result shows that the landslide area soon after the typhoon is 619.91 ha (Kappa coefficient 0.9766). The studied watershed was delineated as 596 LSU, using the threshold area of 10 ha, in which there are 29, 86 and 481 of high, medium and low potential zones, respectively, clustered based on the landslide scale. According to DBSCAN spatial analysis, high and medium potential zones could be clustered as four and five groups. However, the clustering effect of low potential zones was not apparent due to the scattered distribution. High and medium potential zones also show tight spatial correlations due to adjacent to each other and/or linked in the same sub-watershed. Both potential zones would increase the possibility of secondary disasters, such as debris flows and additional landslides, and directly threaten downstream neighboring villages during typhoon seasons. The landslides at the hazardous zones should be treated in high priority. The analyzed results are useful for decision making and policy planning watershed management in the landslide area.","PeriodicalId":259976,"journal":{"name":"2012 20th International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116803787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Daily usage of these technologies, either embedded in smart phones or through advanced Web GIS, involves carrying out specific spatial tasks. Such spatial tasks can be of various types, context and also consider the physical environment in which the task is being performed. By capturing and analyzing users map interactions, common behavior along with interests and dislikes can be identified and used as a basis on which to study map personalization and adaptation. Completing a spatial tasks essentially corresponds to a mouse trajectory represented as a series of mouse cursor positions on a web map. The challenge is to extract meaning from this spatio-temporal dataset. With the synergy of exploratory visualization and data-mining techniques, we present a novel approach to automatically identify and validate a number of spatial tasks forming complex mouse trajectories within a given study area. The task validation justifies trajectory clustering techniques as well as assisting in attaching semantics to the visual interpretation. This research opens further avenues for studying map personalization.","PeriodicalId":259976,"journal":{"name":"2012 20th International Conference on Geoinformatics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123919977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, industrial cluster indeed benefits industry development. To fully control the status and characteristics of district industrial, cluster can facilitate to improve the competitive ascendancy of district industry. The related researches on industrial spatial cluster were of great significance for setting up industrial policies and promoting district economic development. In this study, an improved model that combines DBSCAN and SOM was developed for analyzing industrial cluster. Different from distance-based algorithm for industrial cluster, the proposed model can calculate spatial characteristics between firms based on DBSCAN algorithm and evaluate the similarity of attributes between firms based on SOM model. The demonstrative data sets, 25 random sampling of firms around Taichung County in central Taiwan, were analyzed for verifying the practicability of the proposed model. The analyzed results indicate that the proposed model is suitable for evaluating spatial industrial cluster. In this work, we design a strategy to fuse several classifiers aim to improve the land cover classification accuracy effectively. Use the multi-spectral remote sensing image of HJ-1B CCD as the data source, the correlations of different raster bands are analyzed and different features are extracted for multi-resolution image segmentation and classification, such as the NDVI, NDWI. And then, several classifiers are adopted for object-oriented land cover classification, including multiple support vector machine (SVM) with the core of the radial based function (RBF), SVM with the core of linear function, Neural network (BP), decision tree of rough set, random forest, and K nearest neighbor. Finally, classification results from different classifiers are fused to improve the reliability and robustness of the results.
