Traditional methods for monitoring the substation temperature shows many disadvantages such as low accuracy, heavy workload, lack of real-time, etc. Therefore, a low cost, high accuracy and automatic method is needed for power system. This paper presents a temperature monitor system for substation with ZigBee connectivity. Node hardware, network protocol and software on PC were presented. Finally, the implementation performance shows the sensor nodes have an automatic, small size, low power consumption, and network stability.","PeriodicalId":259577,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th IEEE International Conference on Communication Technology","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133483441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike many adaptive filtering schemes using gradient algorithm, a Lyapunov function of the tracking error is first defined, and second-order Volterra filter coefficients are adjusted using Lyapunov stability theory so that the error converges to zero asymptotically. Moreover, it has fast error convergence property and its stability is guaranteed by Lyapunov stability theory.","PeriodicalId":259577,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th IEEE International Conference on Communication Technology","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132022129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We first introduce the QRS decomposition of a matrix and its geometric interpretation. We then examine a block-by-block communication system that employs (intra-block) decision feedback detection and develop a method for jointly designing the transmitter-receiver (transceiver) pair in such systems. We provide closed-form expressions for transmitter-receiver pairs that simultaneously minimize the arithmetic mean squared error (MSE) at the decision point (assuming perfect feedback), the geometric MSE, and the bit error rate of a uniformly bit-loaded system at moderate-to-high signal-to-noise ratios. We then examine the optimum designs of the transceivers in terms of the algebraic QRS decomposition and explains the functions of the optimum structures in the light of the component matrices. Finally we present simulation studies which indicate that the proposed transceivers perform significantly better than standard transceivers, and that they retain their performance advantages in the presence of error propagation.","PeriodicalId":259577,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th IEEE International Conference on Communication Technology","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133406518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper studies the channel order estimation problem, which aims to estimate the number of paths of wireless channels. We first introduce the traditional channel order estimation method based on minimum description length (MDL) criterion. We find that the traditional method do not perform well when the number of channel samples is small. In order to solve this problem, we propose an improved channel order estimation method, which is also based on MDL criterion. Simulation results show that the improved method has a better performance than the traditional method in terms of estimation precision.","PeriodicalId":259577,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th IEEE International Conference on Communication Technology","volume":"1 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132478435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Intermediate image rendering plays an important role in FVV system and needs to be solved. So far, the intermediate image rendering methods are not suitable for real-time FVV due to the computational complexity. This paper presents a temporal correlation based intermediate image rendering method to accelerate the processing speed. Motion information is applied for fast rendering method. Being a kind of application-specific processor optimized for network computation, network processor (NP) combines the high performance of hardware and the flexibility of software, which exactly meets the demands of nowadays Internet traffic management and QoS provision. This paper originally presents an efficient traffic management mechanism based on AMCC network processor. The data-plane software architecture, the manipulation process, especially some key components such as accurate traffic classification, flexible access control and three-step scheduling are discussed in detail. We implement the traffic management mechanism based on NP3450 network processor and test it using Spirent AX/4000 broadband test system. A typical application area for using fuzzy techniques is to restore images corrupted by impulse noise. In this paper, we present a new framework of removing impulse noise. The most important points is that the types of images are estimated by using the FINDRM and the efficient detail preserving approach (EDPA). When it is estimated that an image has many white and black pixels, the detected noise pixels from the FINDRM are re-checked by using alpha-trimmed means. Oppositely, when it is estimated that an image has a few white and black pixels, the detection results from the FINDRM are used directly. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides significant improvement of PSNR compared with the conventional techniques, and the results are visually very impressive.","PeriodicalId":259577,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th IEEE International Conference on Communication Technology","volume":"159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133934716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
