The proposed scheme is based on the division of reference current and constraining switching states, and executes the conventional dead-time elimination in most of the reference current fundamental period but switches to the novel dead-time elimination around the zero crossing point. Meanwhile, the presented algorithm employs the immune approach as the search method for finding the best optimal control sequence to minimize the objective function (OB) of the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the output voltage waveforms. Additionally, an experimental platform based on DSP and FPGA is built. A concatenation of full bridge PWM inverter, resonant capacitor, inductive rotating transformer which works at low frequencies and piezoelectric actuator is modeled. The behavior of the system is analyzed in function of the variation at transformer's coupling coefficient and resonant capacitor. Then, an optimization tool is presented where magnetic and power properties of the system are optimized. Piezoelectric actuators will also have a DC component at the output voltage, so an embedded electronic system, that creates an offset minimizing the volume, is shown. The research was conducted by computer simulations with Matlab Simulink software. According to the simulation results load compensation reduces the required current rating of the supply grid transformer and cables by approximately 30 %, and the maximum drop of the reference point (RP) voltage to 2 % compared to 15 % caused by the non-compensated case. The conventional STATCOM attenuates the RP voltage flicker by a factor of 5.9 and the ESTATCOM by a factor of 11.7. The voltage source converters (VSC) of both compensators could be designed for the same rated current, despite the active power compensation capabilities of the ESTATCOM. The system losses are minimized when a 3-level VSC is used instead of a 2-level VSC, and the compensating device is connected to the lowest studied network voltage of 690 V. The energy storage system losses are minimized when the energy storage is connected to the dc link using two separate DC/DC converters instead of a large single converter. After discussing the PMTPI structure, the results of ANSYS®/Maxwell® physical model simulation results for a design example are presented. The design example considered in this paper is for a toroid-core power inductor with dimensions of 12.5mm × 12.5mm × 6.5mm and inductance of ~592nH. This control is based mainly on the measurement of the qZSI capacitor voltage and the AC load currents. These measured values are used to predict the future values of the capacitor voltage and load current. This task is based on the determination of each possible voltage vector generated by the qZSI which can ensure the tracking of the capacitor voltage and the output current references. This control is implemented under MATLAB/SIMULINK program; the obtained results are validated with real time simulation using dSPACE 1103 ControlDesk. The low switching loss feature is lost when the converter operation shifts from DCM to Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM). This paper presents an in-depth analysis of such a converter operating in DCM and derives two boundary conditions under which the converter shifts to CCM. The fixed-frequency phase-shifted pulse width modulation is used to adjust the effective duty cycle and regulate the output voltage. Steady state analysis for above resonant frequency operation is also presented in this paper. The derived boundary conditions aid the design of the converter using which DCM operation and hence the soft switching feature is ensured at all operating points. It consists of a machine and an inverter without any input filter. Even though it has the simple structure, it can control the torque, speed and power quality of the connected grid simultaneously in variable speed. In the proposed system, the stator of the machine is directly connected to a single phase grid and the rotor is to a three phase inverter isolated from any power sources. The inverter can be integrated on the rotor or connected to it through the slip rings. The integrated configuration has merits in footprints and maintenances. In this paper, the possible operation areas in this topology are analyzed. The power balance of the rotor isolated from the grid is considered for the operation. The inverter of the rotor side can control the torque based on the vector control method while the rotor power is regulated. The power factor for the grid and shape of the grid current can be also controlled. Operating one of the inverters using a floating dc-link capacitor provides two main functions: reactive voltage support for the main bridge connected to the dc battery voltage source; voltage boosting to increase the motor terminal voltage. The latter feature eliminates the requirement to use a separate dc-dc converter to provide a voltage boost. The resultant drive system can provide several benefits such as: lowering the average battery current by operating the main bridge at unity power factor; improving the motor torque and efficiency over a wide operating speed range; compensation for battery voltage fluctuations; lowering the motor harmonic losses; elimination of common-mode circulating currents. This paper describes a pwm control scheme for the two inverters to regulate the floating bridge capacitor voltage over the entire dynamic speed range of the motor, whilst also providing the desired motor demand voltage. Experimental results are used to verify both the operation of the motor-drive system and the regulation of the floating capacitor voltage. The inverter utilizes two coupled inductors in one resonant pole to ensure the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) for main switches, and zero-current switching (ZCS) for auxiliary switches. Due to the favorable cooling and ease of fabrication characteristics, PCB planar magnetics are employed as the coupled resonant inductors. In addition, super-junction MosFETs with low on-state resistance is selected in order to reduce the inverter conduction loss. The optimization design of planar resonant inductors is described and verified by finite element analysis (FEA) software.
