The reference current signals are generated by sensing the source voltage, load current and dc bus voltage. With these signals the gate driving pulses are generated via hysteresis band current controller. To check robustness of the control algorithm four different cases such as unbalanced, balanced distorted, unbalanced distorted main voltage and faults on load are considered. For more improvement in the performance of active filter, the Active filter is optimized with Teaching-Learning-Based optimization. The simulation work is carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK Power system block set. Input image feature set is transformed from spatial domain to spatial frequency domain using FRDCT. The large number of coefficients of fractional order spectrum of the face images obtained by the application of 2D FRDCT is scaled down by classical data dimensionality reduction technique LDA approach. Reduced feature set is then classified by the use of nearest neighbor classifier. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through the simulation on the benchmark database (AT&T). The dynamic responses evaluated in this work include the first ten natural frequencies of the damaged free-free beam and corresponding mode-shapes also. Natural frequencies and the mode-shapes of the damaged free-free beam have been compared with similar responses of geometrically similar undamaged free-free beam as well as an undamaged cantilever beam. Results show that the mode-shapes of the damaged free-free beam resemble more with the undamaged cantilever beam rather than an undamaged free-free beam. Cement production is one of the most energy consuming industry and India is the second largest producer of cement in the world. This paper presents a case study of energy saving initiatives implemented in a cement unit. Among these are several retro-fittings, modifications and repair work at its captive power plant, cement grinding unit and for its lighting. This has resulted in substantial reductions in annual electrical energy consumption at about 23 percent. Wavelength division multiplexing is used to achieve this objective. It is a technology of transmitting data from different sources over a single link at same time whereas each data channel is carried on its own unique wavelength. Dense WDM is evolved from WDM where channel spacing is less than or equal to 100 GHz. But, their performance is limited by various Non-Linear effects which are caused by dependence of refractive index on the intensity of the optical power. Four Wave Mixing is a non linear process that generates new frequency components from the existing frequency components. Also, it degrades the system performance, so this has to be minimized. In this paper, three Hybrid modulation techniques have been discussed in 2.5 Gbps 8-channel DWDM system for suppression of four wave mixing. Firstly, the channels are equally spaced at 100 GHz and then the channel spacing has been reduced to 50 GHz. The techniques are based upon the level of FWM suppression. The three schemes: Low level reduction, High Level reduction and Intermediate Level reduction have been analysed at different distances from 50 Km to 150 Km at different input power levels so as to find the best technique based upon the results of eye diagram and Q factor. The convergence analysis of method is discussed in ℝ. This shows that the new method has fourth-order convergence for α = 1 and third order for other values of α. Some numerical examples are worked out to demonstrate the efficiency and performance of the method. On comparison of the error |xα,n - x*|, Computational order of convergence (COC) and residual f(xα,n) for the values of the parameter α = 1 by our method with those obtained by the Halley's and the Super-Halley's methods. We observed that our method gives improved results. The low contrast cell images is a major limitation in cell detection. This paper proposes a method to detect cells in very low contrast cell images using Fast Discrete Curvelet Transform (FDCT), radon transform and morphological operations by reconstruction. The contrast of the cell images is improved by nonlinearly modifying the curvelet coefficients at selective scales. Further, radon transform is applied to reconstruct the image from the preprocessed image. Finally, the optimum morphological operations have been applied on the processed images to extract the cell regions from the low contrast cell images. Apart from delivering high spectrum efficiency, great channel robustness, immunity to impulse interferences, flexibility and easy equalization, OFDM is severely affected by undesirable effects of frequency offset errors (causes to generate inter carrier interface) due to Doppler shift in receiver frequency and Local oscillator frequency synchronization error. This paper describes some of the important ICI cancellation techniques, like Self Cancellation and Maximum Likelihood, and produces their performance comparative analysis with respect to BER and SNR. A new proposed technique is here by presented to further improve OFDM performance with varying Doppler shift error. Due to the development of a variety of clouds which provides similar services to mobile devices, it becomes quite difficult to choose an optimum cloud for offloading the computationally intensive applications. The aim of selecting the cloud path is to select an optimum cloud from a set of clouds which provides the same cloud services. The selection of optimum cloud saves the execution time and availability of resources during the migration of computational tasks. For making final decision about selection of cloud path, many criteria need to be considered such as cost, speed, capacity, privacy, availability. In this paper, Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) based multiple criteria decision making approach is proposed which allows the user to select an optimal choice from a set of available choices.
