The overcurrent protection scheme is usually necessary to be built as part of the functions in power integrated circuits. The protection circuit requires to distinguish various fault conditions and to react differently based on the device safe operating area (SOA) limitation. At the same time, the circuit should also be relatively concise and suitable for integration. In this paper, a concise gate drive protection circuit is proposed to provide the complete function of overcurrent protection for LIGBT. The performance of the circuit was verified with experimental results. LIMs are used in many industries as a transportation system. In a semiconductor factory, to produce dust during conveyance is not allowed. We developed the linear induction motor, used at such a factory. This system is AC induction type, and its secondary conductor completely levitates and moves above a stator by noncontact. In this paper, we propose a secondary conductor using the self-shading effect for stability levitation. The new method uses a digital signal processor (DSP) controlled high switching frequency power electronic inverter to synthetically load the induction machine, while using a new real-time data acquisition system to accurately determine and record the machine's performance. The method proposed considerably reduces the testing time compared with conventional methods of efficiency measurement and the accuracy of the result is maintained. Moreover the use of the power electronic inverter allows a comprehensive control over all the quantities which determine the rate at which the power is dissipated inside the induction machine. The developed drive system has a unique configuration which produces smooth three-phase currents by a simple PWM operation of only low-side power amplifiers, thereby reducing power consumption and motor vibration simultaneously. The developed drive system has many advantages; (1) low power consumption (e.g. it consumes only 40% of the power of a conventional linear drive system); (2) small vibration (e.g. the vibration level of it is made less by 12 dB than that of a conventional 120/spl deg/ PWM drive system); and (3) simple configuration. This paper analyzes the inherent reason of the high bus voltage stress of single-stage power-factor-correction (PFC) AC/DC converters. Four possible resolving schemes are analyzed and discussed, and some of practical implementation circuits topologies are also given. The method is based on an innovative iteration approach used to evaluate the AC terminal voltages of HVDC links at each integration step and is developed for enhancing the efficiency of stability trajectory calculations. In addition, the corrected energy function approach with corrected transient energy and corrected potential energy boundary surface is used in the AC/DC system for the estimation of transient energy margin. The approach provides more accurate results in transient stability assessment than conventional hybrid methods. Transformer leakage inductance and other parasitic inductance in the rectification loop are found to contribute to rectification loss. The body diode of synchronous rectifiers is on during current commutation in two SRs because reflected secondary voltage falls on these parasitic inductances instead of the gate terminal of SR in this duration. Body diode turn on greatly degrades the performance of SR. The case is worse in high frequency, high current applications. Detailed analysis of this phenomenon is given in the paper. An equivalent model is established to analyze and evaluate the performance of SR with the existence of parasitic inductance. Simulation and experiment waveforms confirm the model and analysis. Additionally, optimal driving waveforms for SRs are discussed. This paper introduces a direct-frequency converter using bi-directional switches. Its operation principle is discussed in detail and the ripple component attended by aborting the DC-link in the equivalent input voltage is analyzed. A DPWM algorithm is employed to eliminate its influence on the output voltage. Computer simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK is also presented to examine the performance of the algorithm. Meantime, the impacts on PQC are also analyzed when a three-phase rectifier or PWM rectifier is adopted as the DC supply. The multi-level power conversion systems have been receiving increasing attention, especially for high power applications. The proposed method employs a modified version of multi-level sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) scheme. This method avoids the requirement of high capacity DC link capacitors, which are employed in most of the present three-level inverter industrial applications.
