The device uses a camera to real-time capture the road environment images and transmit them to Raspberry Pi, which runs a Python algorithm to detect the traffic lights and the crosswalk. The algorithm, on the one hand, partitions the captured image with a threshold in HSV color space, and then calculates its similarity with a pre-set template of the traffic light using template matching, and finally determines whether the traffic light exists and figures out its position if it exists; on the other hand, detects the edges in the captured image using Canny algorithm, and then finds out the straight lines in the edges using Hough Transform, and finally determines whether the crosswalk exists and figures out its position if it exists. The results of the recognized traffic lights or crosswalk are then converted to speeches through text-to-speech engines in Baidu Artificial Intelligence Cloud, and played to the user via a loudspeaker or Bluetooth earphones. After tested in different real situations, the developed device ran well and successfully recognized the traffic lights and the crosswalks. We think it is useful to bring convenience for the blind people walking outside.","PeriodicalId":253757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 8th International Conference on Biomedical and Bioinformatics Engineering","volume":"471 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123056470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article studies the relationship between extracellular action potential and time at each point of a simulated cell under a certain stimulation. We investigate the variation of membrane potential around a given cell after a certain amount of stimulation. We can calculate the potential around a constant current by using the calculation formula of the potential outside the cell and get a certain rule of the potential change. We use NEURON to fit a cell and stimulate the cell. The data obtained were drawn by MATLAB. The relationship drawn verified that the change law of the potential outside the cell was the same as the change law of the potential around the constant current. We extracted a general mathematical relationship to describe the dependence of extracellular potential on distance, and these results provide novel guidelines for future brain-machine interface design and other electrode recording applications in biomedical research.","PeriodicalId":253757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 8th International Conference on Biomedical and Bioinformatics Engineering","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117087144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computed Tomography (CT) is an essential support for detecting the infection pattern that causes this disease. CT scans provide relevant information on the morphological appearance of the infected parenchymal tissue, known as ground-glass opacities. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can assist in the quick evaluation of CT scans to differentiate COVID-19 findings in suggestive clinical cases. In this context, AI in the form of, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), has achieved successful results in the analysis and classification of medical images. A deep CNN architecture is proposed in this study to diagnose COVID-19 based on the classification of Chest Computed Tomography (CCT) images. In this study 8,624 CCTs of Ecuadorian patients affected by COVID-19 in the first quarter of 2021, were examined. The initial review of CCTs was performed by medical experts to discriminate the CCTs against other chronic lung diseases not associated with COVID-19. The CCTs were pre-processed by techniques such as morphological segmentation, erosion, dilation, and adjustment. After training the model reached an overall F1-score of 97%.","PeriodicalId":253757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 8th International Conference on Biomedical and Bioinformatics Engineering","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130164944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially the number of deaths from lung cancer is increasing. Computed tomography (CT) device is effective screening tool for early detection of lung cancer. Simultaneously, there is concern that an increase in burden on doctors will be caused by high performance of CT improving. Therefore, by presenting the “second opinion” by the computer aided diagnosis (CAD) system, it reduces the burden on the doctor. In this paper, we developed a CAD system for automatic detection of abnormal opacities such as lung nodules or ground glass opacity (GGO) on CT images from temporal subtraction image by incorporating a sparse coding technique to convolutional neural network (CNN). We extend the sparse coding and CNN to 3D and applied them to 32 cases which is obtained different time series on same subject. Despite previous correction methods, the B0 inhomogeneity near air/tissue interface remains a challenge. In this article, we introduce an approach to improve B0 estimation near air/tissue interface based on a high resolution structural image, then further investigate whether it would improve the correction of ssEPI based diffusion tensor imaging by analytical point spread function (PSF) method with the proposed B0 estimation. Phantom and in vivo brain experiments both demonstrated that B0 accuracy was improved near the air/tissue interface compared to the low resolution B0, and PSF corrections were superior to field map corrections, especially on signal intensity restoration.","PeriodicalId":253757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 8th International Conference on Biomedical and Bioinformatics Engineering","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115911194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most animal behavior experiments rely on experimenters to manually record data, and it is prone to errors caused by human factors. When the experiment involves a large number of animal subjects and takes a long time, it is really a heavy workload for the experimenters. To overcome these shortcomings, we developed a device using electromechanical integration technology to automatically record the data of the rat's licking behavior and automatically feed the animal for reward. This device is composed of a Raspberry Pi computer and a syringe pump. The Raspberry Pi identifies different IDs through the radio frequency identification module to select different experimental plans. When the experiment is going, the Raspberry Pi collects the rat's licking and movement data through two touch sensors and an infrared sensor, automatically stores them in a text file, and determines whether to drive the syringe pump to feed the animal according to pre-set licking criteria. The feeding is a fixed small volume of sugar water that is given to the rat for reward, and the volume is configurable by the user before the experiment. When tested, the device worked stably and reliably. The accuracy of the touch sensors for touching is 97.56%, and they reliably detected fast-speed touching in small touch areas. The error of the real infusion volumes is less than 8% of the pre-set volumes. We think this device is helpful in practical use. It will bring convenience to the experimenter, reduce the manual workload and improve the precision of the experiments.","PeriodicalId":253757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2021 8th International Conference on Biomedical and Bioinformatics Engineering","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130438587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous studies have shown that GSK-3β could affect the expression of toll-like receptors (TLRs) which aids in the transformation of M2 macrophages to M1, slowing the development of cancer tumors. In this study, we analyzed the potential immunotherapy approach for treating glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer that is highly refractory to conventional treatment by using GSK-3β inhibitors to manipulate macrophage polarization via TLR-3 and TLR-4.
