The considered application for con- figuration files upload to a system component puts requirements on the throughput of the established connection. To estimate the TCP throughput under the large range of varying conditions an analytical model has been developed. The applied approach is a feed-forward modelling chain, where the complex behavior of the communication system is split into several sub-models that are tied together by the overall model design. Defining multiple sub-models enables their individual development primarily with the purpose of complex reduction. The developed model allows to take into account a variety of parameters, such as distance between a transmitter and a receiver, channel conditions, mod- ulation schemes, in-bound interference, cross-traffic from other users etc. Analytical results are compared with the simulation results (using ns-2 simulator) and measurement results (obtained from a specially constructed test-bed).","PeriodicalId":253546,"journal":{"name":"VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132292920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spatial mode adaptation, the choice of multiplexing, transmit diversity, number of streams, space-time code family, and the like are performed slowly based on side information from other base stations. Base stations exchange their transmission plans with neighboring base stations and broadcast this information to active users. Each user measures its susceptibility to spatial interference and returns this information to the base station. The base station then schedules active users according to the decisions made in interfering base stations and the preferred transmission strategies of its own users.","PeriodicalId":253546,"journal":{"name":"VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124946154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hybrid-decision scheme is a decoding scheme used that combines two iterative decoding algorithms for decoding LDPC codes. This scheme is suitable for many applications such as audio and video transmission that are sensitive to time. The hybrid-decision scheme mixes between the characteristics of the soft-decision decoding scheme and the hard- decision decoding scheme to reduce the computational complexity of the whole decoding algorithm. The modification proposed in this paper is applied to the implementation-efficient reliability ratio weighted bit-flipping (IERRWBF) algorithm which represents hard-decision scheme in the hybrid algorithm. This modification is capable of achieving better performance than that of the hybrid decoding algorithm with reducing the number of iterations required at each SNR and approaching more to the performance of the SPA. This reduction is more observable as the maximum number of iterations assigned for the algorithm increases or as the code length increases with improving the error performance as proved by simulation results.","PeriodicalId":253546,"journal":{"name":"VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"218 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116636907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a distributed approach allows a reduced feedback signaling with respect to the centralized case, especially when a simple scalar feedback is not sufficient for estimating the channel quality. As a result of the reduced feedback signaling requirements the system becomes more scalable, as new relays can be deployed where required without need of a careful network planning. We study the effectiveness of the proposal by means of a multicell simulator.","PeriodicalId":253546,"journal":{"name":"VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"29 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120931619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, threshold-based maximum ratio combining (MRC) and selection combining (SC) schemes are adopted for decoding at the relays and the end-to-end (E2E) error rate performance is analyzed by assuming a Nakagami channel model. Numerical results show that the deployment of multi-antennas can reduce the number of required relay nodes, and thus significantly reduce the system cost. On the other hand, the selection of optimal decoding threshold depends on the number of relay nodes, number of antennas, as well as the average SNR value at the receiver. It is also demonstrated that when the BER requirement is not high, the SC relaying scheme is sufficient to provide satisfactory performance, such that the complexity of relays can be effectively reduced.","PeriodicalId":253546,"journal":{"name":"VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124732566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm selects and weights the RSSI measurements according to their strength, and it uses a propagation model to transform RSSI measurements into distances, in order to estimate the position of the mobile. The algorithm also uses a virtual calibration method of the propagation model that does not require human intervention. By an experimental setup we show that the localization algorithm increases the performance with respect to the commonly used least mean square algorithm showing also how to achieve a wished accuracy increasing the anchor density.","PeriodicalId":253546,"journal":{"name":"VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125826115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
