The approach uses the Levenshtein string edit distance and Latent Semantic Indexing to compute page dissimilarity and then groups them using iteratively a Graph-Theoretic clustering algorithm. To automate the clustering process a prototype has been implemented and used to assess the proposed approach on three web sites.","PeriodicalId":253440,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th IEEE International Symposium on Web Systems Evolution","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124277124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While regression testing has been successfully applied in many domains, programs such as web applications, XML processors, and compilers remain expensive to test because harmless program evolutions make the tests appear to fail: in our experiments 82% of test case output differences are false positives. We present an automated tool that measures syntactic differences in the tree-structured output of such programs to reduce the number of false positives in, and thus the cost of, regression testing. We model test case outputs that merit human inspection through a set of structural and domain-specific features. We evaluate the performance of our technique on over 20,000 test case output comparisons, and find that we are three times as accurate as a naive comparator.","PeriodicalId":253440,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th IEEE International Symposium on Web Systems Evolution","volume":"538 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116591247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ergonomics of these applications often remain unconsidered and the applications turn out to be hard to use. In this paper, a tool is presented to facilitate the examination of usability. Web 2.0 applications in particular are supported, because they are more flexible and require other techniques than traditional web applications. Most web application security vulnerabilities, such as SQL injection and broken access control, can be traced to problems in database interactions. which are implemented as a set of embedded or constructed SQL statements. The identification and analysis of these embedded statements as an integral component of the host application requires complex analysis including robust parsing, pattern matching, control flow and data flow analysis. In this paper, we propose an approach to this problem using source transformation technology. A rich model of fine-grained information is extracted from dynamic web applications, allowing us to reason not only about the SQL embedded system, but also about page access, server environment variables, cookies and session management functions. We evaluate our system on the popular bulletin board web application PhpBB, a PHP / MySQL-based dynamic web application.","PeriodicalId":253440,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th IEEE International Symposium on Web Systems Evolution","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116746846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First was the original challenge of migrating legacy systems to the Web. A few years later the problem was migrating a Web application to a portable device, such as cell phone. Then came the conversion of a Web site into a collection of Web services. Now a new research direction has emerged: migrating a Web-based application to the cloud.","PeriodicalId":253440,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th IEEE International Symposium on Web Systems Evolution","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132647719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increasing number of service providers has introduced the challenge of QoS-aware selection of web service compositions. In such compositions, appropriate web services are selected among several function-equivalent available services. This selection is performed in such a way that the resulting composite web service has optimal quality and satisfies user's quality requirements. In this paper, the problem of QoS-aware selection of web service composition is modeled as an optimization problem. Then a variation of Harmony Search algorithm is used to find a near-optimal composition which can satisfy local and global user's constraints on quality attributes. Compared with other approaches, the proposed method works faster and more accurately.","PeriodicalId":253440,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th IEEE International Symposium on Web Systems Evolution","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116010932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is thus reasonable to assume that if the development process or system architecture is fundamentally different, then CIA approaches must address these differences accordingly. This is particularly relevant in the context of Web systems, given that these systems often have a specific set of characteristics related to differences both in the architecture and the process through which they are developed. To investigate this issue we have interviewed web designers/architects and reported the industrial perspectives on using current architecture CIA approaches. The interview findings reveal a set of elicited needs that an architecture CIA approach should address to be suitably adopted during Web systems evolution. Additionally, systematic classification of these needs indicates the focus areas and their relevance in Web systems. Finally, the study findings provide guidance for the possible extension of architecture CIA approaches specifically for Web systems.","PeriodicalId":253440,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th IEEE International Symposium on Web Systems Evolution","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130286047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
