The design uses GaN HEMTs with a gate length of 250 nm. It consists of a dual-gate transistor configuration in the output stage. This allows an increase of supply voltage in order to increase the output power. If an increase of power is not required, device size can be reduced which comes along with a better RF-performance. The presented amplifier exhibits an output signal with peak-to-peak voltages up to 60 V and achieves a broadband output power of 17 W with a PAE of 79.5 % at 0.9 Gbps. Considering a bit rate of 5.2 Gbps, the corresponding values are 40 V, 4 W and 38.6 %. To the authors knowledge, the presented amplifier is the first GaN switch-mode amplifier with a dual-gate transistor in the output stage. Its measured results are the best concerning the combination of a high frequency and a high power at the same time.","PeriodicalId":253374,"journal":{"name":"WAMICON 2011 Conference Proceedings","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130022801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we consider the effect of the connectivity on the performance of wireless sensor networks using Cooperative Network Coding, and we present scenarios where the values of the connectivity optimize the throughput. Generally, Cooperative Network Coding provides its optimal throughput when the number of nodes in the first cluster connected to the source node is equal to the number of source packets, the number of nodes in cluster i+1 connected to the node (i, j) is at least 4 and the destination node is connected to all the nodes in the last cluster. However, if for any reason the connectivity of nodes between two adjacent clusters is reduced, Cooperative Network Coding can increase its performance by connecting all the nodes in the first cluster to the source node.","PeriodicalId":253374,"journal":{"name":"WAMICON 2011 Conference Proceedings","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128233640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each of the amplifier architectures responds in a unique way to the attempts at its linearization through predistortion. The traditional attempts at evaluation of linearization performance have to work with the amplifier models and enact linearization algorithms based on them. The idea of co-simulating circuits and algorithms for linearization has been picking off recently in most part due to the ever tightening specifications of communication standards. In this work, we look at the problem of co-simulating a linearization system with circuits and signal processing algorithms. The ultimate goal is to provide a full characterization system to act as a linearization test-bed with circuit level simulations and complete signal processing algorithms. This paper provides the first few steps in that direction by yoking together the two most widely used tools of circuits and systems simulation.","PeriodicalId":253374,"journal":{"name":"WAMICON 2011 Conference Proceedings","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129079124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this study is to generate a novel design of FSS on ESG, which is to be used for future energy smart buildings at Edith Cowan University (ECU). The ESG is made of a transparent coating of conducting layer on glass substrate, which attenuates infrared (IR) radiations for energy saving purpose. However the coating also attenuates useful UMTS and Wi-Fi signals which are necessary for the communication systems within the University. FSS technique is used to improve transmission of RF/MW signals through ESG by generating an array of patterns in the hard coating layer. The design of the DBP-FSS presented here has achieved transmission requirements for two specific frequency bands, with stable frequency response for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarization at normal and oblique incidence angles up to 60°. The double square loop (DSL)-FSS sustains 92.7% efficiency of ESG by attenuating IR radiations. This design methodology can be adapted as a general reference, which is suitable for applications under similar circumstances. Optimized design and theoretical results are presented.","PeriodicalId":253374,"journal":{"name":"WAMICON 2011 Conference Proceedings","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122508784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model is implemented with a sub-set of the X-parameter components and is easily ported to modern CAD tools as an X-parameter file. It provides a convenient method for evaluating the performance of RF power transistors in different Doherty PA architectures and can be used to design and optimize matching network, phasing lines and dynamic load modulation for efficient Doherty operation. The model was used to design a symmetric LDMOS DPA with first-pass success, that achieved 55% drain efficiency at average power of 45dBm with 62dBc ACPR after DPD correction using a 4-C GSM, 6.2dB PAR signal at 1.842GHz.","PeriodicalId":253374,"journal":{"name":"WAMICON 2011 Conference Proceedings","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124921722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
