We conclude that long-term availability of dysprosium, neodymium, tellurium and indium might be a cause of concern for deploying wind and PV plants in the long-term. Nevertheless, a wave of mergers and acquisitions reduce the number of independent players in the market and increases the concern about market concentration and his effects on market power. In our research we follow Maxwell et al (1999) and we derive a generalized HHI (GHHI). Our concern is to evaluate the evolution of the degree of concentration in key moments for both Iberian markets separately and after the integration. Power-to-Heat (PtH) is an option to provide additional flexibility. This paper evaluates the flexibility gain a PtH installation provides using the example of adding it to a district heating facility. Therefore we compare a setting consisting of a CHP unit and a conventional gas-fired boiler unit with an extended setting including the PtH unit. We present all relevant changes between the two unit endowments. In this scope, we used a data set based on publicly available information from the website of the Market Operator to develop a two-step ANN prediction model. The first step involves the prediction of the amount of energy bidden at zero price and the second ANN predicts the parameters of the equation of the line that better approximates the remaining bid curve. As more and more intermittent generation is integrated into the grid, while capacity margins are shrinking, not only might prices drop on average but they could also become much more volatile than at present. Potential future day-ahead price scenarios are therefore analyzed in this paper, by using specific price evolution stochastic models developed to take into account different levels of average prices and volatility. Investment decisions are often based on general figures such as the yearly electricity consumption. Simulations used for scientific publications often use standard load profiles or measured load profiles of a specific household. In the latter case, the decision of adequate temporal resolution has to be made. Our study analyzes the impact of temporal resolution on the expected profitability that is calculated based on simulations. In view of the environmental impact of flaring and ineffective use of energy resource, fees for flaring are being increased from 2012. Significantly increased fines pose a challenge for oil producers, which have focused only on oil production. A number of solutions for utilizing APG are currently used in Russia: processing of APG in gas processing plants, re-injection of gas back into the oil field, and production of heat and power for the needs of the oil industry. These commonly used options for APG utilization are analyzed and discussed in this paper, taking into account the specific features of the Russian oil and gas market and barriers presented by monopolies in the gas export and gas processing industry. The model captures the entire energy system including interactions among supply sectors, energy markets, infrastructure and fuel demand. In this framework, climate adaptation options are evaluated in the context of a rational decision making process. Comparison of two scenarios with and without climate impact on hydro and biomass resources reflects the direct and indirect economic effects of adaptation strategies and provides insights for generation and energy supply investment planning. The simulation results show that the adaptation to climate change in Iceland leads to higher installed capacities for hydro, biodiesel, and bioethanol plants with lower supply costs. The preliminary findings indicate that regulatory authorities recognize the importance of the integration of the social and environmental dimensions along with the economic one, but the formal design of such an integrated model is still emerging. Moreover, the findings achieved put in evidence that much of the sustainability concerns are still largely focused on the environmental dimension. Therefore, this paper investigates the simulation of realistic spot market prices by taking into account agent bidding behavior. An agent-based market simulation method is presented and benchmarked against historic prices of the year 2012 on the German wholesale power market.
