With this method, the calibration curve, the relationship between potential drop across the crack and the crack sizes, is needed. This work applied a cell-centered finite volume discretisation with unstructured quadrilateral mesh to simulate the potential drop within cracked specimens. The numerical model is implemented with C++ language. The program was used to simulate electric potential drop in 2D specimens with the two most common through-thickness crack problems, the single edge crack and central crack types with the crack length to specimen width ratios from 0.1 to 0.8. The resulting calculated calibration curves conform well with the analytical solutions.","PeriodicalId":251893,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Science and Technology (TICST)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114666202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a swarm intelligent based evolutionary computation method. Simplex-PSO is the hybridization of Nelder-Mead Simplex method (NMSM) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) without the velocity term. It has focused on the optimization of the area, power and has improved all other performance parameters of the CMOS two-stage comparator with minimum computational time. The proposed Simplex-PSO based circuit optimization technique is relieved from the inherent drawbacks of premature convergence and stagnation, unlike Differential Evolution (DE), Harmony Search (HS). The simulation results prove that Simplex-PSO yields optimally designed two-stage comparator circuit which occupies the least MOS area and dissipates the least power. It provides better results than those of the reported works. Simulation is carried out by Cadence spectra circuit simulator using 0.35μm technology.","PeriodicalId":251893,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Science and Technology (TICST)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127319127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this research was to isolate the mannanolytic thermophilic bacterium useful for mannooligosaccharide (MOS) production. Thermophilic mannanase-producing bacteria were isolated from 6 soil samples collected from organic rice farm of Selaphum, Roi Et, Thailand. The bacteria were cultured using Luria-Bertani (LB) supernatant containing locust bean gum (LBG) and incubated at 60 °C for 1 hr before continued culturing at 37 °C for 47 hr. The mannanase activity was screened on LB agar containing LBG stained with iodine solution. The colonies that showed clear zone were selected. The isolates were cultured using LB supernatant containing LBG at 60 °C for 72 hr. Seven isolates exhibited the high amount of halo ratio were selected and named KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5, KS6 and KS7. Mannanase activity was also determined by DNS method using LBG (pH 7.0) as mannan source and cultured media as crude mannanase. Only KS1 and KS7 strains showed thermophilic mannanase and exhibited activities at 55-90 °C. KS1 and KS7 were identified by DNA sequencing and morphology. The results revealed that KS1 is Bacillus subtilis and KS7 is Bacillus amyloliquefaciens.","PeriodicalId":251893,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Science and Technology (TICST)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121953965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Meanwhile distributed generation (DG), such as renewable energy systems and combined heating, cooling and power system (CHCP) plants, play an important role in this context. Compare to centralized generation (CG) in conventional power plants, CHCP systems in DG networks offer more efficient energy generation, less fuel consumption and thus, less greenhouse gases (GHG) emission. Due to these advantages and generating a variety of by-products with high reliability, cogeneration systems are appreciated in different applications such as commercial, industrial and residential areas. In this paper, CHCP systems with available technologies are briefly presented as a form of DG. In addition, electrical demand of a residential district of Tehran is analyzed according to the current status and future augmentation. Then, the recoverable waste heat which can be used in space heating or desalination process is modeled using TRNSYS (Transient System Simulation Tool) software. At last, the fuel saving and the CO2 abatement are evaluated according to the simulation results.","PeriodicalId":251893,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Science and Technology (TICST)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124835057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such the system is complex, as it should adhere various rigid government regulations and involves various levels of government units. In developing the system, we adopted an extreme programming approach, with an ultimate goal to meet requirements defined by all levels of government units. The evaluation indicated that there were no significant problems experienced at both the upper and the middle levels. But this was not the case at the lower (sub-organization) level. Although we found that 98% of the involved users agreed that their requirements has been met, and 100% of them were satisfied with the use of the extreme programming approach, we found that the users at the lower level in general had a high level of resistance against changes, which demanded a better strategy to cope with such problem. A recommended solution includes involving them more intensively throughout the development of the system, aimed at eliciting system requirements and cultivating a better awareness among them.","PeriodicalId":251893,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Science and Technology (TICST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127529195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
