WMN has advantages about provisioning cost and stability of networks. However, it is necessary to send and receive a lot of control packets in order to establish routes among access points. We have proposed MBCR to reduce control packets. Furthermore, we propose MBCR-ATLM that adopts the Airtime as metric to ensure compatibility or examine the influence of the difference metric. In this paper, these two MBCR are compared with HWMP, which is standardized as routing method of WMN, from simulation results.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125212090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our WGAS includes a tri-axial accelerometer, 2 gyroscopes and a MSP430 micro-controller. It was worn by the subjects at either the T4 or at the waist level for various intentional falls, Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and the Dynamic Gait Index (DGI) test. The raw data of tri-axial acceleration and angular velocity is wirelessly transmitted from the WGAS to a nearby PC, and then 6 features were extracted for fall classification using a SVM (Support Vector Machine) classifier. We achieved 98.8% and 98.7% fall classification accuracies from the data at the T4 and belt positions, respectively. Moreover, the preliminary data demonstrates an impressive overall specificity of 99.5% and an overall sensitivity of 97.0% for this WGAS real-time fall detection system.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121648056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, since the conventional binary countdown scheme has the hidden terminal problem, the packet success rate and the throughput are low. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, a novel binary countdown scheme which combines the relaying system with the spread spectrum communication system is proposed. Generalized Modified Prime Sequence Code(GMPSC) is used as pseudo noise(PN) code. The packet success rate and the throughput of the packet transmission is evaluated by the theoretical analysis. Moreover, the proposed scheme is compared with the conventional binary countdown scheme. As a result, it is found that the proposed scheme achieves higher packet success rate than the conventional binary countdown scheme. Moreover, the performance degradation from the ideal packet success rate which is a case when there is no hidden terminal problem becomes small.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126983721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the most techniques, the spectrum sensing is performed on secondary users (SUs) in a CRN. For reducing the loading of the SUs, the wireless spectrum sensor networks (WSSNs) [1] have been proposed. In WSSN, sensors should provide the primary user (PU)'s interference range and states (active or inactive) to secondary users (SUs). However, due to the hardware defect and PU signal fading, sensors' reports may be incorrect. In this paper, we propose sensor self-diagnosis algorithms that can help sensors to check the correctness of interference range of the PU. According to the simulation results, our algorithms have lower sensing error rate than prior work.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123554214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a navigation-based approach to facilitating improved QoE of wireless local area networks. By exploiting the spatial information and the pre-measured QoE, the proposed method navigates the user to a suitable location having good experience of the network/services. Performance was evaluated in realistic wireless local area networks, in which QoE is measured as packet successful rate. The results demonstrate that the proposed system successfully navigates users to enjoy sufficient QoE of multimedia applications.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122621253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In CSMA, spatial reuse can be improved by suitably changing the carrier sense threshold (CST). If the increased CST does not incur collisions and helps concurrent transmissions from multiple devices, this improves the throughput of the wireless LAN. For example, when there are two APs and multiple devices exist near each of them, each AP can transmit a frame simultaneously without causing collisions of frames since each device can receive a frame from its associated AP with a high signal power and the interference from another AP is small. In this paper, we propose a system which improves the throughput in CSMA/CA based wireless LANs by controlling the CST values of APs according to positions of mobile hosts. In the system, the CST values of multiple APs are dynamically configured by a controller which has a camera for obtaining the current positions of mobile hosts. The proposed system improves the throughput in WLAN 58% in comparison with basic DCF in a LAN where two APs are arranged at an interval of 50 m and two devices exist within 10 m from each AP.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133774030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our proposed method needs WiFi and magnetic field fingerprints, which are created by measuring in advance the WiFi radio waves and the magnetic field in the target map. The fingerprints are represented by a Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) to reduce the amount of computation. Our proposed method estimates positions by comparing the pedestrian sensor and fingerprint values by particle filters. We evaluated this method in real environments and confirmed that it provides accurate indoor positioning with a mean error less than 8 m and more accurate position detection than existing techniques.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133470770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensing data obtained from multiple sensor devices are visualized with three-dimensional graphical models of physical objects (e.g., buildings) in the space to provide a single integrated view of the sensing status in a web browser window. The view is continuously updated based on the latest sensing data so as to show the current status in the space. As the view is rendered by the application that runs within a web browser, the status can be seen from different points of view interactively. We present a service that visualizes human activities, such as pedestrian flows and environmental sounds, based on sensor devices installed in a public space at a shopping center in Tokyo.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115412739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In post-disaster contexts however, cloud-based mapping services and data may be unavailable because of network challenges. Disruption Tolerant Network (DTN) architectures have been proposed for data sharing in challenged networks. However, map generation may be too complex for individual DTN nodes given their limited computing resources. To generate and share maps of disaster areas, we present DTN MapEx, a distributed computing system for mapping that operates over a DTN. DTN MapEx distributes disaster map data and map generation tasks to multiple nodes to minimize individual computational loads. In the system, responders and volunteers act as mobile sensing nodes. They log the GPS traces of their traversed paths and collect disaster area map data such as the coordinates, images, and assessments of points-of-interest. The mobile nodes then route their collected data and a task request through the DTN to pre-deployed, fixed Computing Nodes. The Computing Nodes aggregate the data to generate a map and opportunistically route it back to the network. To reduce complexity, mapping tasks and data are divided amongst Computing Nodes based on their current computational load. Computing Nodes periodically update the DTN about their current loads. Mobile nodes use these updates in deciding where to allocate their task requests and data. In this paper, we present the design of DTN MapEx and perform initial evaluations on its feasibility in disaster scenarios.","PeriodicalId":251023,"journal":{"name":"2015 Eighth International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking (ICMU)","volume":"323 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116777020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
