It also has some dilemma, however, such as high dropout rate and low engagement. In this paper, we explored the impacts of the synchronous interactive course on student behavioral engagement, cognitive engagement, and emotional engagement. Guided by mixed research methods, we conducted the research in a “knowledge media and learning” class for 10 weeks. The research found that synchronous interactive online courses can significantly improve students’ behavioral engagement, cognitive engagement, and emotional engagement. This effect was embodied in helping students to complete learning tasks regularly, increasing their learning willingness, improving their learning attitude, and enhancing their sense of learning community. In order to improve student engagement in online courses, we suggested that online course instructional design should take advantages of both synchronous and asynchronous interactions, and balance the proportion and priority of synchronous and asynchronous interactions in the learning activities.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125780603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has far-reaching significance for the construction of 6G global seamless network. High peak to average power ratio (PAPR) for OFDM produces serious nonlinear distortion and spectrum spread of transmission signal in nonlinear transmission channel. On the one hand, pulse shaping technology is used to reduce the PAPR of OFDM. On the other hand, aiming to improve the linear range of power amplifier, the pulse shaping technology is widely used. Under this circumstance, a method CS-PS-DPD (Combination Sine Pulse Shaping and digital pre-distortion) is proposed to reduce the requirement of high PAPR of OFDM signal to the transmission channel linearity. Simulation results show that this method can effectively improve the performance of low earth orbit satellite broadband OFDM communication system.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133689943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 53 sophomores from two convenience sample classes in China volunteered to participate in this quasi-experimental study. They were randomly assigned to the experimental group (EG), applying asynchronous online peer correction using an LMS platform, and the control group (CG), utilizing paper-based peer correction. Results from an independent t-test showed that students in the EG significantly outperformed those in the CG in the posttest writing performance (t = 2.10, p = 0.044). Students in the EG provide significantly more global peer feedback comments on revising and logical structures than those in the CG. On the other hand, students in the CG paid much more local comments on correcting grammatical errors than those in the EG. The authors concluded that EFL learners can benefit from receiving revision-oriented comments which led to better writing quality. Therefore, teachers should provide students with a variety of options for implementing online peer feedback in EFL classes. The limitations of this study and suggestions for further replications in other subjects are provided.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122360323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We designed and distributed a survey questionnaire to two experimental groups who had used different communicational approaches in a specific course. We controlled other conditions involving the online lectures and reference materials, the teaching strategies, the cases analysed, and the instructor. Next, the independentsample T-test was applied to the data collected. The results indicated that participants were more satisfied with the computer-mediated communication-based blended course. Also, they reported that this mode is effective in the cultivation of creativity. Finally, it is also illustrated that whichever mode was implemented, students still had some difficulties with the blended learning mode. In conclusion, the application of online communication software significantly improves students’ satisfaction. These findings contribute to the design of blended learning courses in higher education, especially the use of social software.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130641668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It could collect the domain-specific corpus was collected in combination with the general corpus, train word vectors, represent the semantics of words, and implement the question similarity calculation algorithm based on word co-occurrence and syntactic analysis to achieve question matching. To minimize the range of question matching and thus make the matching more efficient, a question classification module based on support vector machine (SVM) was implemented. Finally, the validity and usability of the proposed method were verified by experiments. The proposed method shows a certain universality. Given that some colleges have not established their automatic question-answering customer service system, this paper is of great research significance.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"45 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126863121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The flexible link exhibits large vibrational amplitudes and low frequencies, which benefit student's observation and understanding of control performance. Dynamics of flexible link consist of infinite vibrational modes, while the first mode is fundamental to overall system. Students design a control system to suppress first-mode linearized vibrations for demonstrating the basic idea. Moreover, control of coupled-oscillators dynamics and infinite modes is suitable for advanced study. Both the laboratory facilities and curriculum are described in this paper. In addition, the online lectures and remote experiments for control engineering courses by using flexible link manipulators during the COVID-19 pandemic are also presented.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"517 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116237691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, an online concept map tool was introduced into argumentation instruction separately with the method of flipped classroom. A control group post-test true-experiment was conducted in a classroom with 79 pre-service teachers. The results showed that the total score and all aspects of the experimental group were generally superior to the control group. However, no significant difference was found between the two groups in the post-test. For this, this study analyzes the possible reasons. In addition, the students showed a positive attitude towards learning using concept maps. Implications for future research are discussed.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"4 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128804481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Starting from the intersection between coding, digital fabrication, STEM education and disability, we present Design for ALL.L, a framework to create social inclusion through project-based learning programs. The presented framework targets students of different ages, from elementary to university, and guides the development of educational programs to foster awareness and empowerment for people with disabilities at different levels: from developing interaction design projects to meet the special needs of people with disabilities, to rethinking student-teacher interaction as the person with disabilities becomes teacher. Learning from the two case studies described in this paper, we provide insights and reflections on the opportunities and challenges to bridge the goal of social inclusion for people with disability with education through technology.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115196276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development of disciplinary competencies as well as soft competencies are studied. The challenge is related to the construction of a manufacturing cell using robots and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) in which we look to develop disciplinaries competencies such as basic programming and logical thinking. On the other hand, the challenge also allows for the developing of soft competencies in students of Engineering such as Negotiation skills, Time Management, Working in a Multidisciplinary and Multicultural Team. In this paper we show the educational strategy, the methodology and the results of the implementation as well as a proposal to extend this methodology so that more students can participate in this type of projects. The results obtained exceeded the expectations and are very positive according to the students’ perceptions.","PeriodicalId":250546,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123412792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
