Accurate positioning is required in a wide area of applications. One of them is pedestrian localization. In this paper we focus on the task of localization and tracking using a IEEE 802.15.4a CSS network. Data is obtained from Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) measurements. In order to generate highly accurate position estimates, we employ Bayesian filtering techniques such as the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) together with TDoA error mitigation methods.","PeriodicalId":249707,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 1st International Symposium on Wireless Systems (IDAACS-SWS)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126518351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A study of the Handelsblatt [1] assumes that the expansion of mobile devices in the next years will increase significantly. According to this trend it is clear why the topic of mobile payment is discussed more recently in research and industry. In this paper we will demonstrate a software system which handles the payment process through the usage of a mobile device and a decentral payment server. The decentral payment server works like a transaction gateway between the mobile device and the corresponding bank server using the FinTS protocol. For user authentication abstract methods like NFC (ex. German eID-Card) or services like PayPal, REST or LDAP can be used which make the system flexible for many different use-cases. The system can be used within the mobile operating systems Android, iOS and Windows Mobile. Another important fact is the decentralization of the system because this will lead to a very inexpensive system regarding transaction fees and the possibility to host the payment system in-house makes the system interesting for companies. By using this decentral architecture there will not be a central payment provider holding thousands of interesting transaction data which could be a target for data theft or data profiling. To proof this concept a sample project was implemented and will be shown at the end of this paper.","PeriodicalId":249707,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 1st International Symposium on Wireless Systems (IDAACS-SWS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129319823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a simulated framework, we try to develop more effective algorithms and to predict the behavior of the entire WSN when confronted with different situations. The goal of our work is to test our algorithms in a simulated environment so that we can more accurately predict the behavior of the entire system in a real life scenario. For our experiments, we had in mind a real network composed of mobile platforms equipped with sensors which can collaboratively estimate environmental parameters like temperature, humidity, pressure and sunlight inside a predetermined perimeter delimited by its GPS coordinates.","PeriodicalId":249707,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 1st International Symposium on Wireless Systems (IDAACS-SWS)","volume":"291 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125472913","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A typical localization system uses the received signal strength (RSS) values of a line of reference nodes (RNs) to determine the position of a radio transmitter with unknown position. The so called blind node (BN) should use low-power components for a long battery life and should also be weight-optimized for the localization and tracking of people. Therefore, we investigate the use of the eZ430 radio platform which uses a system-on-chip design containing a low-power microcontroller part and an 868 MHz radio transceiver. The device comes in a sports watch case and also contains sensors for air pressure and acceleration measurements. The last one is used to increase the accuracy of the localization by a three-dimensional motion detection framework. Experimental results for a localization in an office building are used to evaluate the performance, especially the influence of the new motion detection framework.","PeriodicalId":249707,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 1st International Symposium on Wireless Systems (IDAACS-SWS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130092774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
