PSTN and Internet use different transmission methods. Media gateways convert signaling and media formats of telephony between PSTN and IP networks. Media gateways are used to enable PSTN users to call Internet telephony users and vice versa. Because services on media gateways can handle calls regarding both PSTN users and Internet telephony users, advanced and converged services may reside on media gateways. It is desired that services can be flexibly provided to where they are needed. Important requirements for the integration are not halting the entire system, not violating each system's mission, and deriving the synergetic effect. The data characteristics of each system are different in nature because each system has its original mission. Heterogeneous systems can be easily integrated without stopping their operation and without intervening in another system's characteristics by the on-line property and the recursive model of the autonomous decentralized system (ADS). After integration, the application objects (AOs) exploit other systems' data, thus it becomes possible for application objects in different systems to cooperate by synchronizing with others. In a single system or homogeneous systems, the synchronization can be done with the same timing or timing sequence, but in a heterogeneous system, such synchronization is less effective because the data properties are different. A new concept, data alliance, has been proposed. In data alliance, each system must determine the data combination independently and also the combinations determined in the different systems must be consistent with each other. The autonomous system can be defined by the nature of the autonomous controllability and autonomous coordination and these characteristics must be satisfied even in heterogeneous systems.","PeriodicalId":248775,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 2000 International Workshop on Autonomous Decentralized System (Cat. New information services have been added, modified and diversified, while legacy services have been abandoned. Users' requirements for services are changing very quickly. It is becoming very difficult to find the required information services in the Internet from the extremely huge amount of information. It is necessary to design an information service system which can meet user's heterogeneous requirements for services, adaptability of services to cope with ever-changing situations and to reduce access time for the users. Faded information field architecture and push/pull mobile agent technologies have been proposed to achieve these goals. Push-MA for the service provider allocates information into distributed nodes to create a faded information field. Pull-MA autonomously searches appropriate information in these distributed nodes for a user. We propose a technique for balancing SP and the user's point of view for faded information field construction. Load balancing, assigning each processor workload proportional to its performance capability, could significantly enhance the resource utilization to cost ratio of a cluster, and hence reduce the overall execution time of the clusters' processes. In this paper we present an agent-based dynamic load balancing framework for heterogeneous clusters of computing systems. The Dynamic Agent System for a Heterogeneous cluster (DASH) is a middle tier as architecture above the system level which dynamically provides for n tasks non-preemptive task scheduling, application handling, and fault tolerance. Our approach dynamically configures/constructs the load balancing scheme depending on the current state of the heterogeneous cluster. DASH services are implemented using agents running on each node that collaborate dynamically to establish a global awareness of the system resources and states. Based on this dynamic global awareness, we use a combination of load metrics and statistical predication metrics to schedule processes and thus balance the loads across all the clusters of computers. Our preliminary experimental results for various test cases with different combinations of load metrics are analyzed to show the performance gains that can be achieved by DASH.","PeriodicalId":248775,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 2000 International Workshop on Autonomous Decentralized System (Cat. In the platform, the measurement system consists of the module instances and a link table that defines the exchange of data packages. The data exchange among the modules uses the data field concept. The modules outputting data only send the data package to the data field. The Virtual Instrument Platform distributes the data packages to the modules. With the methods, development of the Virtual Instrument Platform and modules can be separated. The platform provides a flexible and simple integrated platform, in which the user can easily use modules defining and constructing an automatic instrument system. Furthermore, the Virtual Instrument Platform (VIP) provides a module template that includes controlling functions and defining input or output channel functions. However, in an integrated system such as supply chain management (SCM), they have to coexist without violating their own requirements of real-time property and fault-tolerance under the evolving situation. That is, these integrated systems should be assured for their own characteristics. In order to realize the system, each of which has its own database (DB), with heterogeneous requirements-real-time property and fault-tolerance, an assurance system architecture is proposed. In this system architecture, each system has autonomy to manage access to the DB in cooperation with other systems through an autonomous mobile agent (MA). This MA has an \"allowable volume\" which means each system can update its DB independently, and the MA allocates the AV into systems by moving around them dynamically. Kakuda, 1998), the virtual path (VP) reservation method using multiple agents (MA) has been proposed. In this MA method, given a primary VP and multiple backup VP candidates between each source node/destination node pair, then for each such pair, a backup VP is selected from the given multiple backup VP candidates, and a primary VP and a backup VP are reserved so that, when some nodes and links in the primary VPs fail, the primary VPs are able to be changed to the corresponding backup VPs rapidly. This paper describes an experimental evaluation of the MA method with respect to optimality. As network technology is developing rapidly and is applied more and more widely, a simple software architecture running in a network environment is of great practicability. Primarily, both the network technique and object-oriented technique are taken into account. Some of the advantages of this method compared to other methods are given also. Railway communication has built up its digital transmission network, programming control exchange network and digital communication network. Though we have made some achievements, we should be aware that making innovations in railway technology is not easy, especially when faced with the rapid progress of worldwide railway techniques and the urgent demands in our railway industry. There are several advantages to this approach. First of all, users can employ this tool through a Web browser without any investment in maintenance of expensive hard- and software at the client-side. Secondly, since multiple processing units are available, the average response time of each job is reduced with respect to an environment with a single processing unit.
