An eWOM plays a more important role in a competitive situation, because consumers are evaluating more than one alternative. Especially in the movie industry, online reviews by audiences play key roles in the financial performance of the movie. One of the main limitations of eWOM research is not to explain differences between cultures(Tang, 8107). The relationship between eWOM and firm performance has been verified by the product characteristics and review platform(You et al., 8102), but due to the complexity of language and expression, the cultural moderating effect has not been sufficiently explored(Tang, 8107). Recently, companies continue to be globalized, and marketing decisions to maximize eWOM effectiveness in other countries' cultures have become a big challenge for companies(Kumar et al., 8100). In this global environment, research that takes into account the negative effects of eWOM Characteristics of rival products is also limited. In this study, we analyzed the effect of eWOM characteristics on movie sales in competitive environment. We analyzed 013,70 data of 52 days from the opening of 828 movies released in Korea and US in 8107, 019 Korean movies were collected and 05, American movies were collected. Multiple regression analysis were conducted. As results, eWOM valence of rival movies had a negative effect on focal movie sales, and the effects of eWOM and competition factors were moderated by Korean and US cultural differences.","PeriodicalId":248342,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th international conference on Management, Economics and Humanities","volume":"200 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115577582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Maamoun, AbdElazez Hashem","doi":"10.33422/8icmeh.2018.12.31","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33422/8icmeh.2018.12.31","url":null,"abstract":"Today's fast-paced world is moving towards automating and using information technology in every process of the firm, specially, critical processes. The electronic procurement (E-procurement) system is that online system that companies use to buy products and/or services directly from suppliers at the lowest cost possible (Davila et al, 8112; Otieno et al, 8102). E-procurement simply reflects the migration of procurement functions to the Internet (Panda & Sahu, 8108). Although procuring electronically is not a relatively new concept and its application is relatively high in European and American developed countries, its application on the contrary, is very low in developed and under developed countries even in their large and multinational companies (Kunnapapdeelert & Thepmongkorn, 8107). The evolvement of this topic had been so fast throughout the past 81 years. The e-procurement system moved from being perceived as secondary to necessity along with the world development and the pursuit to sustain competitiveness (Davila et al, 8112; Hawking et al, 8112; Parida et al, 8112; Gunasekaran et al, 8119; Shukla et al, 8100; Panda & Sahu, 8108; Eei et al, 8108; Munubi et al, 8107). The reason behind this focus of research is the remarkable potential savings that the electronic procurement tool proved to achieve in so many organizations (Schoenherr & Tummala, 8117). Yet, many organizations have not been able to effectively implement the needed developments in technology to enable the successful adoption of e-procurement system (Muhia et al, 8102). And this is due to so many factors on which the e-procurement adoption is influenced (Parida et al, 8112; Harrigan et al, 8118; Gunasekaran et al, 8119; Otieno et al, 8102; Ali & Alrayes, 8102; Shukla et al, 8102; Gascó et al, 8108). the main objective of this research is to highlight the importance of the e-procurement system in today’s business, to add value to the academic view of the topic and to examine the factors hindering the adoption of such technological system, especially in developing countries.","PeriodicalId":248342,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th international conference on Management, Economics and Humanities","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114957921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite extensive research on saving behavior, a large part of household saving motives still remain unexplained. A study of possible determinants of household saving motives and their influence is both practically and theoretically important. Saving motives are the reasons to save and are broadly classified in to Life-cycle, Precautionary and Bequest saving Motives. This article proposes to empirically investigate the effect of demographic, social and economic factors on the bequest motive at household level. Ordered probit analysis is used to find out association and influence of various factors on the bequest motive. The study considers six aspects of bequest motive for analysis. The study finds that age of the individuals, gender, education and wealth are the four main factors influencing the saving for the sub motives of bequest household saving motive followed by Family size. Locality, Dependency ratio, profession, income and employment status do not determine the saving for bequest motive. The study also finds out that there is more possibility of accidental bequest since no intentional savings are done by the households for bequest motive.","PeriodicalId":248342,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 8th international conference on Management, Economics and Humanities","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133476366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Latvia the first Electronic Procurement System (EPS) was established in 2005, and was the first such procurement system in the Baltic States. Initially, it only acted as an e-Procurement system in which public institutions can purchase standard goods and services. The aim of the paper is to explore the proportion of applied GPP of total procurement in EPS in Latvia in the period from 2015 to 2017, and to analyze how the aims of the proportion of GPP are achieved. A complete transition to e-Procurement will reduce both administrative costs and significant savings for the state budget. GPP proportion in procurement made within the EPS in 2015 was 9%, in 2016 8%, but in 2017 19.10%, which means that GPP a substantial increase. The paper gives a brief analysis of narrations, transmitting a verbal knowledge and their links to the organisational culture. Some aspects of discursive knowledge, based on arguments are discussed, as well as the role of discourses as storytelling, creating informal organizational norms and company’s basic assumptions. The article makes a short review on the literature with a focus on the role of the knowledge discourses for managing successful sustainable businesses. The organizations are seen as an integrated system combining a formal and a social dimension. This research paper gives an outlook of storytelling as a method contributing to the transfer of tacit knowledge in organizational settings. The study presents some aspects for a distinction between the discursive as explicit and narrative as a path for transforming tacit to explicit knowledge.
