This system covers the frequency band from 1.68 GHz to 2.25 GHz with a minimum bandwidth of 570 MHz. This relatively low frequency operation is unique to this design for DF, as most of the available design covers high frequency bands above 2 GHz. In addition, a major contribution of this optimized design is 40% reduction in the total area compared with the closest design. Moreover, the proposed system is distinctive as it is capable of finding the direction in both elevation and azimuth planes. This six-port design is realized on a dielectric substrate area of 65 × 65 × 1.28 mm3.","PeriodicalId":247495,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"51 38","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113934230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes the performance characteristics of a signal detection scheme applicable to M-to-M communication, in which machine terminals search their possible operation area where the Base-Station-to-Mobile-Station (BS-to-MS) communication is not using a specific frequency band. The investigated signal detection scheme consists of a signal canceller and a feature detector. For such scheme, we describe the detection performance characteristics by an analysis based on stochastic theory. We also address the estimation method of the detection performance by using detected values in the signal detector. Its estimation accuracy is adequate from the viewpoint of real usage.","PeriodicalId":247495,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122155416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this kind of applications the horn must fulfill very strict requirements, among them, there are: high gain, broad bandwidth, low side and back lobes generation and low cross-polarization. To obtain these features the employment of dielectric load is studied. Here is proved that the use of a dielectric load in short standard conical horns can satisfy all the main electrical characteristics for that application. The results presented here allow us to employ the short feeder in the DBS parabolic reflector antennas, easing the mechanical restrictions related with other choices like large standard conical, corrugated or stepped horns.","PeriodicalId":247495,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133249575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
