Lung cryptococcosis is a rare entity whose epidemiology hasn’t been entirely reported in Mexico. It is frequently found as a complication of HIV or other cases of immunosuppression. We present a case of a young immunocompetent man who debuted with neurological manifestations and was later found to have a giant lung cryptococcoma. Introduction: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TBP) is a chronic infectious disease that impairs the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of the patients who suffer from it. Sonora ranks second in national morbidity and third in mortality from TBP, but to our knowledge it has not been evaluated how HRQOL affects patients with TBP at the local level. Objective: To evaluate HRQOL in adults ≥ 18 years of age with confirmed TBP seen at health centers in Hermosillo, Sonora. Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional study with 46 subjects, to whom the validated Short Form 36 questionnaire (SF-36v2) was applied to examine their HRQOL. The outcomes were compared according to the variables gender, phase of treatment phase (intensive/support) and comorbidities (present/absent); sociodemographic aspects such as occupation, education and family income were also described. Results: HRQOL was significantly lower in women, patients in intensive phase and those who had comorbidities. The most notorious deterioration occurred in physical aspects and the perception of global health. These test are a simple, quick, and noninvasive. It consists that the patient must generate peak inspiratory (from residual volume) and expiratory pressure (from total lung capacity) against an occluded system. MIP assesses the diaphragmatic strength; while MEP assess the intercostal and abdominal muscles. Maximum respiratory pressures are of great clinical utility in the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases affecting the respiratory muscles. Disinfection by-products (DBP) are the result of the reaction of disinfectants (such as chlorine) with natural organic matter and are present in swimming pool water and in residential sources such as drinking water, the shower and the bathroom. There are studies which have shown the health effects of exposure to DBP on airway dysfunction and other respiratory complications. It has been documented that these products can irritate both the upper and lower respiratory tract and induce various respiratory symptoms particularly in children and high level swimmers. A natural pool (also called ecological pools, naturalized pools, bio-pools) is a pool where, to achieve the necessary water quality, a natural purification system is used instead of using chemicals.
