The objective of cognitive warfare is to influence and manipulate human minds and thoughts by employing weaponized narratives as a strategic tool. Weaponized narratives play a pivotal role in shaping the audience's perception and attitude, effectively aligning them with the desired intentions of the communicator. The threat posed by North Korea has significant implications for South Korea's national security. However, there remains a scarcity of studies examining the utilization of North Korea's YouTube propaganda within the context of cognitive warfare, which represents a dimension of hybrid warfare. To address this gap, this study aims to analyze the risks and impacts of North Korean YouTube propaganda narratives on the audience. Through the application of a qualitative analysis method known as narrative analysis, this study thoroughly examines various narrative elements present in the videos uploaded on “Songah's Vlog”, including videos, images, audio, and textual narratives. The research findings, contributions, and policy suggestions derived from this study are thoroughly discussed","PeriodicalId":246265,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association of Criminal Psychology","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal is to create an academic foundation for tailoring cyberbullying prevention strategies that align with unique perpetration patterns shown by individual adolescents. To achieve this goal, the study utilized data from the 「Korean Children and Youth Welfare Panel Study 2018」conducted by the Korea Institute of Child and Adolescent Welfare. Using Latent Class Analysis (LCA), we identified latent groups of adolescents with comparable cyberbullying perpetration patterns. These groups were then studied to uncover distinctions in demographic charateeristics (gender), mental health factors (aggression, depression, grit), antisocial behaviors (delinquency), and relational factors (teacher relationships, friendships, parental caregiving attitudes). The key findings are as follows: First, a statistically significant model has been derived, which includes two to five latent groups, each displaying unique patterns of cyberbullting perpetration behavior. Second, considering model fit, types of perpetration behavior, and sample sizes, a four-group latent model has been determined as the most appropriate for achieving the research objectives. These four latent groups are labeled as: 'Low-Level Perpetration Group (n=2,087)', 'Verbal Aggression · Cyber Prison · Flaming Concentrated Group (n=36)', 'Verbal Aggression Concentrated Group (n=74)', and 'High-Level Perpetration Group (n=5)'. Third, there are no significant differences observed in the characteristics of the members within each latent cyberbullying perpetration group. However, unexpected outcomes are noted concerning delinquency, teacher relationships, and positive parental caregiving attitudes (warmth, autonomy support, structure). Consequently, the need for further research on categorizing types of adolescent cyberbullying perpetration and conducting detailed analyses for each type is proposed.","PeriodicalId":246265,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association of Criminal Psychology","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135082755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, a survey was conducted on adults aged 20 or older, and a total of 160 (57 men and 103 women) participants were included in the final analysis. This study used a 2 (gender: male, female) x 2 (media frame: episodic, thematic) between-subjects design, and the participants were randomly assigned to one of the two conditions. They read a image reporting on digital sexual crime, and answered a set of questions. As a result of the study, there was no significant difference in the perception of digital sexual crime and fear of crime according to the media frame. The interaction effect of gender and media frame on perception and fear of digital sexual crime was also not significant. However, the effect of gender was found to be significant, and the evaluation of the perceived crime rate and the possibility of crime damage was found to mediate this. Finally, I discussed about the significance and limitations of this study.","PeriodicalId":246265,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association of Criminal Psychology","volume":"130 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, domestic studies on the relationship between gambling initiation and problem gambling among adolescents are active, but these studies did not specifically verify which route of initiation causes problem gambling, and the subject of these studies does not include whom under probation. This study conducted a survey on 113 adolescents under probation to find out which factors of cyber gambling initiation leading adolescents to problem gambling. As a result, adolescent under probation were more likely to start gambling after running away from home or for earning pocket money. The significance and limitations of this study were discussed in detail in the conclusion.","PeriodicalId":246265,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association of Criminal Psychology","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through the literature review, it was found that there are the same issues for the implementation of the autonomous police system as for the special judicial police, such as job satisfaction, work avoidance, and identity confusion. Regression analyses were conducted to determine whether these factors affect the extent to which special law enforcement officers actually practice cooperation with the general police. The results showed that the higher the job satisfaction, the higher the perception of cooperation with the general police, while controlling for variables such as gender, age, and departmentalization. Considering that job satisfaction should be approached in a very comprehensive manner, the results are sufficiently indicative of how the special judicial police should develop in the future. Based on our findings, we made three main policy recommendations to improve job satisfaction and enhance cooperation with the police. First, the overall job satisfaction, second, the improvement of job satisfaction according to regional differences, and third, the establishment of self-governance in cooperation with the Autonomous Police Commission and the future-oriented operation of the Special Judicial Police. These are policy recommendations that can directly lead to job satisfaction and are expected to provide a new roadmap for the cooperation between the police and the special judicial police and the development of the special judicial police.","PeriodicalId":246265,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association of Criminal Psychology","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135082614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paradigm shift has presented terrorists and violent extremists with a new platform for conducting psychological warfare and promoting their terrorist activities. In their quest to recruit individuals and expand their causes, terrorists have integrated their propaganda narratives into diverse visual tools and games. This shift has prompted Western countries to recognize the risks associated with cyber propaganda as a threat to national security, leading to extensive research on developing effective countermeasures. However, limited attention has been given to studying the cyber propaganda and narratives of terrorist groups that utilize games and visual materials to propagate their ideologies. To bridge this gap, this study focuses on analyzing the cyber propaganda tactics employed by ISIS through visual images and internet games. The research aims to gain insights into the strategies employed and the influence exerted by such propaganda on radicalization processes and terrorist activities. The study presents its findings, including research methodologies, analysis results, and discussions, shedding light on the implications for policy development.","PeriodicalId":246265,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association of Criminal Psychology","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135082999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, the variable that best predicts the increase in police trust in both men and women was found to be an police effectiveness. This means that the most important factor in enhancing police trust is police effectiveness for both men and women. Second, procedural fairness and lawfulness, which are factors that affect police trust after police effectiveness in both men and women, have been verified. Third, the difference between men and women regarding the factors influencing police trust is that men's social cohension and women's informal control have been verified as factors that explain the increase in police trust. The result of this study are meaningful in that it derived more specific analysis results by exploring the most influential factors through stepwise regression analysis in understanding the direction of enhancing citizens' trust in the police.","PeriodicalId":246265,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association of Criminal Psychology","volume":"2 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Trauma goes beyond everyday stress and can cause major disruptions in an individual's life, so it is necessary to have a criminal policy approach that punishes criminals and rescues victims of crime. Thus, this study examines the understanding of trauma in psychiatry and reviews the laws related to the mental harm of crime victims in Korea and abroad to provide a basis for identifying the need to consider the mental harm of crime victims in criminal proceedings.We first examine the applicability of the criminal law concept of injury to trauma as a substantive legal approach. Then, specific issues will be introduced step by step, including procedural law approaches, especially systems to prevent secondary victimization of crime victims and support their psychological stability, such as the departure of the accused, witness testimony through relay devices and shielded facilities, the presence of trusted persons, recording and preservation of video, the system of witness assistants, the system of witness support units, the system of non-disclosure of hearings during witness testimony, the system to limit unreasonable newspaper reports, and the system of rewriting and prohibition of disclosure of personal information.","PeriodicalId":246265,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association of Criminal Psychology","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135082605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
