Depending on the application such devices can have wide, coarse or dense channel spacing. Furthermore they can handle different number of channels. In this paper we present some of such devices, their functionality, structures and fabrication technologies.","PeriodicalId":245765,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 3rd International Symposium on Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems (ANTS)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115830800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In contrast to the existing competitive approaches, a standard prediction mechanism along with a judicious mix of QoS awareness and fairness in resource allocation is adopted in our approach. In this paper, we revisit power control as a network layer problem in design of WMNs. Specifically, we show that increasing power levels of nodes in WMNs actually results into throughput improvements in node-to-gateway traffic pattern. It is proven that WMNs can achieve per node throughput of O(1=δn) where δ is factor dependent on hop-radius of the network, which in turn is reliant on power control. Also, it is shown that in case of multiple gateways, increasing power levels of nodes is more cost-effective because it results into increased throughput with fewer number of gateways.","PeriodicalId":245765,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 3rd International Symposium on Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems (ANTS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132997966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose that to achieve the minimum SEP at the destination, a joint optimization of power allocation and relay selection should be accomplished. To this aim, we reformulate the SEP performance of a simple cluster-based cooperative WSN in the general form and solve the joint optimization problem efficiently. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed joint optimization can efficiently improve the SEP performance of the network in comparison with the previous disjoint optimal relay selection schemes.","PeriodicalId":245765,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 3rd International Symposium on Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems (ANTS)","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128181003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, iSCSI sequential write access for a remote backup system is focused. It is well known that iSCSI experiences performance deterioration under a high latency environment. The storage access by iSCSI has multiple hierarchical protocols. Due to this complicated structure, it is very difficult to identify the performance bottleneck that causes the deterioration. Therefore, system tools which can analyze the complicated layered structure are required. We have developed system tools that enable us to monitor the hierarchical protocols. As a result, we have identified the cause of the iSCSI performance degradation problem. We then fixed the problem and confirmed that one can obtain the performance close to the theoretical limit.","PeriodicalId":245765,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 3rd International Symposium on Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems (ANTS)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124033753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, we propose a analytical model to understand and characterize the performance of GTS traffic in IEEE 802.15.4 networks for emergency response situations.We study two crucial performance metrics, latency and frame drop rate, for GTS frames.
