In this study, we adopt the perspective of the group engagement model and the multidimensional conceptualization of social identity in order to examine the effects of perceived organizational support (POS) and two key employee outcomes, willingness to support the organization and intent to quit. More specifically, we examine whether the three aspects of social identity (identification, pride, and respect) can explain the relationship between POS and its outcomes. By doing so, we gain insight into the unique power of these components to explain the POS-outcome relationship and we contribute to a better understanding of the outcomes of POS (Kurtessis et al., 2017). Trying to provide generalizable findings with high external validity, we conducted a quantitative field study including a sample of 579 employees. Our findings indicate that identification partially explains the relationship between POS and willingness to support the organization, while identification and pride are able to partially mediate the POS-intent to quit the relationship. {"title":"Impact of board gender diversity on the financial performance of the manufacturing and service companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange","authors":"Sinan S. Abbadi, M. Prior studies have determined several benefits of female presence in the boardroom. However, gender diversity’s impact on financial performance is still unclear due to the mixed findings regarding this relation. In addition, studies about gender diversity roles in Jordanian companies’ performance are missing in the literature. Hence, in order to fill this gap, data from the listed companies was extracted from the ASE website with a total sample of 1088 companies as follows: 294 manufacturing companies (27%) and 794 service companies (73%). The results showed more males (96.2%) than females (3.8%) on the board of directors among the listed manufacturing and service companies. The manufacturing and service companies reported a mean Tobin’s Q value of 1.044 (SD = 2.164) and 1.304 (SD = 3.554), respectively. Results show that the linear regression shows that board gender diversity has a statistically significant impact on Tobin’s Q (p = 0.043) and ROA (p = 0.062). Feeling trusted by a supervisor is believed to be an indicator that employees are valued by an organization (Pfeffer, 1998), but that research has not been completed yet (Baer et al., 2015). Data were collected from 107 employees who work at financial services companies in Jakarta, Indonesia. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to explore the linkages between high-performance work systems to work engagement. Later, the Sobel test was used to examine the mediation role from feeling trusted. This research found that high-performance work systems have a positive relationship between feeling trusted and work engagement. Surprisingly, feeling trusted has a negative impact on work engagement. Last, this research revealed that feeling trusted cannot lead high-performance work systems to improve work engagement. Despite this research, being conducted in a multicultural country, it has a paucity of cultural aspects analysis. Accordingly, future research should consider the cultural aspects to advance this form of research further. The country image is significant as it supports attracting foreign direct investment, tourists, foreign students, and expatriate workers who might bring managerial skills and technological exchange to the country. The paper tried to investigate how much political instability has impacted the national image, analyse the impact of policies on the country image and establish the effect of infrastructure on a country image, and contribute to the literature on the effect of the vital elements on the country image. The research contributes to the components of the national image. The country image is positively interrelated with a view on product integrity, pride of ownership, product gratification, enthusiasm to purchase from specific countries, and general product knowledge (Papadopoulos & Heslop, 2002). Nations historically branded themselves through icons. Symbols like flags, military uniforms, currencies, anthems, and ideology are due to regime changes and stereotypes (Fan, 2010; Dinnie, 2008; Fan, 2006). This research was based on a descriptive approach methodology, combining subjective and quantitative techniques. It was based on 100 stakeholders including politicians, media personnel, community development personnel, traditional leaders, church leaders, and academics and entrepreneurs. The study established that Zimbabwe’s image has been affected by political instability emanating from political activities, policy inconsistencies have affected inward investment in the country and the country’s infrastructure has an immense contribution to the national image. A questionnaire was delivered directly or via Google Form to four Tanjungpinang sub-districts. The questionnaire’s Likert scale represents SME business actors’ opinions. The accounting information quality and availability to credit variables included ten statements apiece, whereas the trust dimension had five reports. To test the hypotheses, the data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Ability, compassion, integrity, and financial information all positively and significantly affected credit access, according to hypothesis testing. Validates earlier findings that trust can overcome information imbalance between banks and SMEs when lending or borrowing. Banks use financial data and trust evaluations in SMEs to distribute loans. The bank recommends quality financial report information for small and medium firms to get loans. This study uses a sample of the population in universities. The sample population is expected to provide a quality predictive value. The method used is descriptive quantitative research, using stratified data based on respondent stratification surveying several areas in East Java Province, Indonesia. This research is in line with what has been done by Hu, Liu, Chen, and Qin (2018) who answered the problems of higher education in China by applying different strategies to get careful planning in creating good outcomes for students and encouraging university progress and the quality of graduates. This study found that students’ application of teaching and learning strategies can respond positively to the performance of the Freedom to Learn — Independent Campus (FLIC) by providing affective experiences to students in learning outside the classroom and directly entering the industrial world or creating entrepreneurial methods. According to Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, sustainability is one of the guiding principles. Ninety-nine (99) managers working in different banks have participated in the survey. The perspectives of the managers are considered in this study. The collected data was tested in SmartPLS 3.0 to have more accuracy in the results. The four hypotheses were decided to be accepted or rejected based on the path analysis, specifically the p-value significance at 0.01, 0.05, and 0.10. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, correlation, regression, reliability, discriminant validity tests were conducted. From the hypothesis testing, it is relevant that there is no direct relation between organizational learning and sustainability. It is indirectly related to innovation and change. The model verification is based on the samples collected from the managers of each bank. However, the hypothesis requires further verification in different business contexts. There are different factors influencing sustainability, which have not been included in our research such as economic, environmental, and social factors. Initially, the paper investigates the legal framework for the environment, waste management, recycling industry, circular economy, and green entrepreneurship in Kosovo. This paper is a qualitative research based on a single case study approach aiming to investigate the motivations and obstacles of the first Kosovan entrant firm in the recycling industry, as well as the variety of the products and future plans. The research reveals that the company has implemented a plastic waste recycling initiative, utilizing it for the manufacturing of plastic products. This strategic move aims to minimize costs in comparison to relying solely on imported plastic raw materials. Furthermore, the company’s shift towards recycling has significant positive implications for the environment. Among the main obstacles that the company encountered were the lack of adequate and experienced staff in this industry, as well as equipment, but it also mentions power outages as quite harmful for equipment and production.
