In this qualitative study, we present an ecological rehabilitation of a patient victim of an extremely severe TBI and presenting severe and diffuse cognitive impairment. The rehabilitation program, focused on the preparation of a vegetable soup, was structured in three steps conjugating various strategies: a phase of acquisition of basic knowledge and procedures, a phase of application to the actual preparation of the soup, and an adaptation phase devoted to making the activity a purposeful part of the patient’s life. Results showed that it is possible to increase the abilities of severely impaired patients in a daily task, as well as their self-awareness, by means of an individualized, contextualized and intensive rehabilitation. However, several limitations must be considered.","PeriodicalId":244186,"journal":{"name":"Neuropsychologie clinique et appliquée","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129064080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nous avons mis en place un programme d’intervention inspiré de Simmons-Mackie, Kearns, & Potechin (2005) qui avait pour objectif de réduire l’occurrence de comportements non facilitateurs de communication produits par le conjoint d’une personne aphasique. Cinq comportements non facilitateurs ont été sélectionnés en fonction de leur nombre élevé d’occurrences. Deux d’entre eux ont fait la cible d’une intervention spécifique consistant à entraîner le conjoint à les identifier et à les remplacer par des stratégies de communication plus adaptées. Un comportement a fait l’objet d’une intervention psychoéducative et deux comportements n’ont fait l’objet d’aucune intervention afin d’évaluer une éventuelle généralisation de l’intervention à des comportements non travaillés. Les résultats montrent que seule l’intervention spécifique a permis d’améliorer les habiletés de communication du couple.","PeriodicalId":244186,"journal":{"name":"Neuropsychologie clinique et appliquée","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116722971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to evaluate relationships between episodic memory and post-concussive symptoms (PCS). The sample was composed of 55 participants (aged 20 to 64 years), including 25 patients with mTBI and 30 healthy control participants. Participants completed the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) and the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure (ROCF), and questionnaires measuring the intensity of memory complaints, fatigue, and sleep quality. Analysis of the data revealed: (a) no significant differences between both groups in episodic memory performance, in either the verbal or visual modalities (b) the intensity of PCS was significantly higher than expected in the normal population (no PCS symptoms), (c) no significant association was found between PCS and memory performance. These results suggest that, despite the fact that patients with mTBI complain of significant memory difficulties and PCS, the neuropsychological tests most commonly used in clinics, do not objectify the memory complaints.","PeriodicalId":244186,"journal":{"name":"Neuropsychologie clinique et appliquée","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129121520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of the present study was to test whether these differences reflected individual differences in cognitive traits. 15 participants (aged 20 to 30) who had participated in the prior category-learning studies agreed to take some tests of cognitive ability, including (1) the perceptual reasoning subtests of the Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV) and (2) the Doors & People test of visual memory. Prior category learning performance was found to be positively correlated with perceptual reasoning and with visual memory in partial correlations. These findings confirm that the differences in category learning may be linked at least in part to differences in cognitive abilities.\u0000\u0000Des études récentes ont rapporté des différences individuelles dans la capacité à apprendre de nouvelles catégories. L’apprentissage des catégories possédait des corrélats électrophysiologiques. L’objectif de l’étude actuel était de tester si ces différences reflétaient des différences individuelles dans des traits. Quinze participants (entre 20 et 30 ans) qui avaient participé à des études précédentes d’apprentissage catégoriel ont accepté de participer aux sous-tests du raisonnement perceptuel du WAIS-IV et le Doors test du Doors & People test pour tester la mémoire visuelle. La performance dans la tkche d’apprentissage des catégories était corrélée positivement au raisonnement perceptuel et à la mémoire visuelle suite à des 3 corrélations partielles. Ces résultats confirment que les différences dans l’apprentissage des catégories seraient liées, au moins en partie, à des différences cognitives.","PeriodicalId":244186,"journal":{"name":"Neuropsychologie clinique et appliquée","volume":"157 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114798018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ces associations sont impliquées dans la promotion et la reconnaissance de la spécialité dans leurs régions respectives, à savoir l’Union Professionnelle des Psychologues Cliniciens Francophones pour la Belgique (UPPCF-pôle neuropsychologie), l’Organisation Française des Psychologues spécialisés en Neuropsychologie (OFPN), l’Association Québécoise des Neuropsychologues (AQNP) et l’Association Suisse des Neuropsychologues (ASNP). L’objectif principal de cette rencontre était de profiter de ce rassemblement inédit pour pointer les similitudes, les différences, les points d'intérêt particuliers et les perspectives d’amélioration vers lesquelles faire converger les pratiques des psychologues francophones spécialisés en neuropsychologie et favoriser leur reconnaissance. Après une brève introduction présentant l’essor de la neuropsychologie de chaque pays, plusieurs thèmes ont été abordés : formation, statut, reconnaissance, pratiques professionnelles, enjeux et perspectives. L’intervention s’est conclue par le constat d’un nombre important de similarités dans les problématiques rencontrées, ainsi qu’une réelle volonté de mutualiser les démarches et réalisations nationales. Cet élan a permis de formaliser la création symbolique d’une Fédération Internationale des associations de Neuropsychologues Francophones (FINF).","PeriodicalId":244186,"journal":{"name":"Neuropsychologie clinique et appliquée","volume":"210 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124496655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
