These measurements are characterized by a very high uncertainty values if compared with the ones usually related to other electrical measurements. For these reasons, if the measurements are performed to assess the exposure of human beings, these large uncertainty values imply a high risk of wrong decision when there is the need to establish if a site complies or does not comply with a specified emission limits. A reduction of the uncertainty values implies a reduction of the risk. With this aim, we propose an approach which, in particular but very typical cases, allows an effective reduction of the uncertainty values in the magnetic field measurements, avoiding the usage of very expensive instrumentation.","PeriodicalId":243870,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121501827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed capacity estimation scheme has the following novel features: it employes total least squares (TLS) estimation in order to account for uncertainties in both model and the observations in capacity estimation. The TLS method can adaptively track changes in battery capacity. We propose a second approach to estimate battery capacity by exploiting rest states in the battery. This approach is devised to minimize the effect of hysteresis in capacity estimation. Finally, we propose a novel approach for optimally fusing capacity estimates obtained through different methods. We demonstrate the performance of the algorithm through objective experiments.","PeriodicalId":243870,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123667786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One way to catch up with greater conviction this scope is the production of energy at a large scale, using renewable sources. Now, the incentives are even a fundamental element for the development and competitiveness of these systems, but it is clear that if the policy guidelines will converge in the direction of Horizon 2020, the possibility of implementing such systems will become a model easily replicable and suitable. In this context, this work aims to show how a production system that exploits solar energy, through a plant collector, can be comparable in terms of cost with other energy sources. In particular, an estimate is made of an economic system with solar collectors for the production of electrical energy, starting with the year of production and on the basis of 25 years of life of the plant.","PeriodicalId":243870,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125287731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Z-source inverter system is a single stage converter. By controlling the shoot-through duty cycle, the Z-source network can boost the capacitor DC voltage. Which is greater than the input DC voltage. As a result, the new Z-source inverter system provides ride-through capability during voltage sags, improves power factor, reduces harmonics, increases reliability and widen output voltage range. The experimental results are validated. A Double Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (DSVPWM) and Indirect Field Oriented (IFO) speed control is used for the control of Z-Source Inverter fed induction motor. A 32 bit DSP (TMS320F28335) is used to implement the IFOC-DSVPWM for Z-source inverter.","PeriodicalId":243870,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127922953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is most commonly used in homes, businesses and small industries. One of the most known advantages of the SPIM is that they require a single phase to maintain the motor in motion. The only drawback is that due to the lack of starting torque, an additional auxiliary winding is required to start the motor. This increases costs and reduces the performance as well as the reliability. With the increasing popularity of renewable energy, there is a need for developing methods that couple these two technologies. Wind and solar power is a variable source of energy due to its dependency on natural resources, which makes connecting them directly to SPIM tedious. This connection can be achieved by driving a SPIM with solid state electronics in order to start-up and control rotor speed. This paper introduces an alternate start-up method by driving the SPIM with solid state electronics. This alternate method is achieved by driving a SPIM with a two-phase supply obtained from an AC to AC converter. Using a cycloconverter to control the start-up allows a new level of speed control, by manipulating the main winding waveform. A Simulink SPIM model is used to compare simulated results with the constructed AC to AC converter prototype.","PeriodicalId":243870,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126283177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
