In contrast to the previously obtained results, the paper reduces the original H<sub>∞</sub> controller problem to the corresponding H<sub>2</sub> controller problem, using the technique proposed in [1]. The paper yields the central suboptimal H<sub>∞</sub> controller for linear systems with unknown parameters in a closed finite-dimensional form, based on the corresponding H<sub>2</sub> controller obtained in [16]. Numerical simulations are conducted to verify performance of the designed central suboptimal controller for uncertain linear systems with unknown parameters against the conventional central suboptimal H<sub>∞</sub> controller for linear systems with exactly known parameter values.","PeriodicalId":240226,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control (ICICIC)","volume":"108 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114122665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In most cases, good grade means good learner. Teachers do not realize what learners know and how much they understand. Learners with poor grades are becoming giving up them easily. Modern evaluation, diagnoses students with learning ability not grade. There are two assumptions. First, the difficulty level of materials is suitable for the students. Second, the difficulty level of question matches the teaching material. The main purpose is diagnosing the student's ability. This research calculates the student's ability from online-test system with Item Response Theory (IRT). We integrate K-means to cluster learner's ability which is calculated from item response theory. Teachers can modify the learning material adaptively and teach students in accordance with their aptitude in their courses.","PeriodicalId":240226,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control (ICICIC)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123174308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared with other algorithms, grid-based algorithms generally have a fast processing time. However, since the size of a cell is determined by users, the large size cell may contain data points of different clusters and leads to low clustering quality. In this paper, we propose an improved clustering algorithm based on grid-density (CABGD). The concept of center intensity of grid cell is presented and is applied to identify the distribution of data points in a grid and to decide whether or not to split the grid. Then all density-connected grids are assigned to a cluster. Experimental results on synthetic datasets show that the algorithm has higher clustering accuracy and lower sensitivity to parameters.","PeriodicalId":240226,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control (ICICIC)","volume":"5 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121001916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, a novel solar radiation modeling procedure is developed with the a-priori information of temperature and pressure values, which are naturally dependent on solar radiation via indirect atmospheric phenomena. Firstly, daily behavior of hourly solar radiations is considered in frequency domain. Initial nine Fourier series coefficients are calculated for each day. Secondly, various neural networks models are built for prediction of these nine Fourier coefficients using the input data gathered from early morning hours and previous day. Apart from the solar radiation readings, temperature and pressure data are also used for developing a more accurate model. It is concluded that, the support of temperature and pressure data of the region improves the solar radiation model. Finally, differences between the performances of the proposed models reveal correlative relationships between atmospheric parameters and solar radiation.","PeriodicalId":240226,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control (ICICIC)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121012591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, to improve power efficiency, a step-down ACDC converter realizing 1/N (N=2,3,... ) conversion modes is designed by using switched-capacitor techniques. Although conventional converters offer an output by regulating the stored energy in a big capacitor, the proposed converter generates the output by performing AC-DC conversion. Thus, the proposed converter can improve power efficiency. Concerning the power efficiency, the effectiveness of the proposed converter is clarified by theoretical analysis. Furthermore, the validity of the circuit design is confirmed by simulations and experiments.","PeriodicalId":240226,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control (ICICIC)","volume":"230 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121260584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When the current system suffers from sudden unpredictable, uncertain or nonlinear changes, the traditional adaptive control method will fail to fulfill the task of synchronous control. A new fuzzy-extension control strategy, which combines fuzzy theory and the extension concept, is proposed here to solve this problem. With this method, two controllers are employed in the system simultaneously- the fuzzy controller is used to deal with gradual time-variant situations (i.e. quantitative change) while the extension controller is responsible for sudden time-variant situations (i.e. qualitative change). The designed fuzzy-extension controller can switch its mode of control through an intelligent switch. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed controller has satisfied performance requirements.","PeriodicalId":240226,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control (ICICIC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125119517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different kinds of variables are dealt in different ways in FRIPSO algorithm. Constraint handling is based on simple feasibility-based rules without the use of a penalty function which is frequently cumbersome to parameterize, nor need it to guarantee the particles be in the feasible region at all time which turn out to cost much time sometimes. In order to improve the convergence speed of FRIPSO with the iteration growing and to find global optimum, the standard PSO is used to find a better position for the best history position of the swarm on the condition that the discrete value are same with those of Gbest in each iteration. Two practical benchmark mixed-variable optimization problems are tested by our FRIPSO algorithm to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":240226,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control (ICICIC)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125509193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
