The framework is used to design and implement a knowledge-base embedded object-oriented control system using the Prokappa expert system development tool. In this way, the heuristics human knowledge is incorporated into the cell controller. Changes in the production environment and operation rules can be easily accommodated by modifying the embedded rule-sets. The functionality of the cell controller is studied and mapped to the knowledge-based framework.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":239174,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE 2nd International Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA '93)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1993-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116724510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is suggested that, by progressively quantifying the CQF, it becomes a global optimization tool for steering the enterprise on a path of long term viability. The models developed in the quantification process summarize the knowledge foundation of the enterprises. The key feature of the authors' definition of the CQF is that it combines technological and economic aspects with human, social and environmental aspects in a single conceptual framework.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":239174,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE 2nd International Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA '93)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1993-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130131526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The architecture consists of a neural network controller a fuzzy rule maker, and a fuzzy controller. The neural network controller is used to learn the driving knowledge from trials. The driving knowledge is then extracted by the fuzzy rule maker to form a driving knowledge rule base. The driving knowledge rule base is further optimized using a genetic algorithm. Computer simulations are presented to show the effectiveness of the architecture.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":239174,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE 2nd International Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA '93)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1993-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121878568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New approaches are developed to solve these subproblems. The first subproblem is solved using the fuzzy system approach where obstacles are represented by fuzzy half planes. The other subproblem is overcome through the use of a strategy selector, which chooses the best strategy among a few, to be used for determination of a collision-free route. This approach is able to draw on the strengths of different strategies under different situations. Based on the fuzzy approach for world representation, two existing strategies are modified for the dynamic enviornment case. Simulation examples are used to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":239174,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE 2nd International Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA '93)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1993-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117164551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Microdevices, such as a microsensor, microactuator, and microprocessor are all important to build an integrated micromachine. If the \"sensing part\", \"actuating part\" and \"logical judging part\" are unified in a micro body, it is possible to make a microrobot. If this unification can be down with the batch process of mass production, an idea for a machine will change from an origin at once. A microrobot offers the opportunity of expanding the application fields of mechatronics in the future. The problem statement, application fields and future trends of microrobots are discussed.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":239174,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE 2nd International Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA '93)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1993-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115354597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An artificial neural network is used as a modeling tool in system identification, and an integrated rule-base provides a control parameter adjustment mechanism to tune conventional feedback controllers. The proposed tuning strategy greatly simplifies the processes involved in establishing suitable parameters for servo drive systems and negates the need for detailed knowledge of the system being controlled. A DC motor drive and a commercial digital motion controller are used to evaluate the proposed strategy. The results confirm that the strategy can be easily implemented, and can enable an effective solution with minimum effort and time.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":239174,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE 2nd International Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA '93)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1993-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126624897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
