Methods: A total of 193 school nurses from elementary/middle/high schools in Korea were enrolled in this descriptive study. The awareness of health education environment, teacher efficacy, and job satisfaction were measured using structured questionnaires. Results: The awareness on health education environment was 3.10 ± .56 on average. School nurses with positive awareness on the environment showed significantly greater efficacy and job satisfaction than those with negative awareness, and school nurses at elementary schools had positive awareness on the environment compared with those in middle/high schools. Those with work experience of 11 years or more had a positive awareness on the environment. However, heavy workload, lots of work irrelevant to school nursing and few training opportunities on health education were recognized negative items. The awareness on the health education environment was positively correlated with teacher efficacy and job satisfaction, respectively. In particular, the awareness on health education environment influenced teacher efficacy and job satisfaction. Conclusion: Teacher efficacy and job satisfaction should be enhanced through continued improvement of the health education environment to promote the effect of health education.","PeriodicalId":238374,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Public Health Nursing","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126507880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: We surveyed 94 permanent elderly returnees from Sakhalin, living in Gimpo, Korea. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program for descriptive statistics, t-test, Scheff é test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The mean score of total health status was 3.7 on a 5 point Likert scale. The mean score of ego integrity was 3.6 on a 5 point Likert scale. The health status showed significant correlation with the ego integrity of the permanent elderly returnees from Sakhalin. Conclusion: In the present study, although the health status of the permanent elderly returnees from Sakhalin appeared to be good, the lack of awareness about health care and the need for ego integrity, is in itself the actual suffering. Thus by providing health education along with medical information can enhance the health management. And, this practice can be self regulating for the society and can provide institutional support for the permanent elderly returnees from Sakhalin, which they require.","PeriodicalId":238374,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Public Health Nursing","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124380080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a lack of study examining influences of cognitive protecting or buffering factors on internet addiction among college students. The purpose of this study was to examine influences of depression, ego-resilience, and active stress coping on internet addiction tendency (IAT) among college students. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive design was used. Data were collected between October and December 2013. A convenience sample of 244 students completed self-report questionnaires consisting of Ego-resiliency Scale, Ways of Coping Checklist, Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression, and Self-report Scale for Internet Use. Stepwise multiple regression analysis was performed for data analysis. Results: We found that higher levels of depression were associated with higher levels of IAT. However, an inverse association was found between active stress coping and IAT. Students who mainly used the internet for chatting showed lower levels of IAT than those who used the internet for games or blogs. These factors explained 15.1% of the variance in IAT of college students. Conclusion: The study results suggest that stress coping strategies and depression are important factors for evaluation when developing intervention programs targeting college students with problematic internet use.","PeriodicalId":238374,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Public Health Nursing","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124800704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive survey was conducted with a convenience sample of 201 adults living in three Ri in Y-city, Gyeonggi-do. Data were collected from face-to-face interview by trained interviewers and were analyzed using a zero-inflated negative binominal regression model. Results: Participants reported engaged in moderate or vigorous physical activity was 76.1%; 10.5% of participants reported that they met moderate physical activity recommendations and 14.5% of participants reported that they met vigorous physical activity recommendations. Zero-inflated negative binominal regression analysis showed association of increasing days of physical activity with social cohesion (, p=.005), social network (, p=.003), and safety for crime (, p=.036), and no days of physical activity was associated with no attainment of education and marginally associated with increasing BMI. Conclusion: Neighborhood environmental factors including social cohesion, social network, and crime for safety were significantly associated with physical activity of rural adults. Community health nurses should expand an approach for individual behavior change to incorporate rural adults' specific neighborhood environmental factors into physical activity interventions.","PeriodicalId":238374,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Public Health Nursing","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133411540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: This study provides a descriptive survey on the housing environment of a vulnerable population of a city in Gyeong-gi province. A total of 9,061 households were selected as research participants. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews by visiting nurses from February 2014 to March 2014. Results: Interviewees answered \"poor\" on items including cold drafts, illumination, daylight penetration, inflow of polluted air, house odor, stairs safety, noise, mold, pests, and ventilation. The score for housing environment problems showed a significant group difference due to gender, age, economic status, family type, type of housing, and type of ownership. Conclusion: These results indicate that the vulnerable population is exposed to a poor housing environment. Thus, there is an urgent need to improve the housing environment for the vulnerable population. Based on this study, linking a visiting health care service program and housing environment improvement projects from relevant administrative agencies might be recommended in order to effectively improve the housing environment.","PeriodicalId":238374,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Public Health Nursing","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121121332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
