Live Working can minimize planned interruptions of supply and is an important factor in meeting the quality requirements of the German Regulator (Bundesnetzagentur, BNA). It thereby avoids deduction from the individual network revenues. In this document, experiences of Bayernwerk AG - a distribution company of the E.ON Group in Germany - regarding the impacts of Quality Regulation on the profitability of Live Working are addressed. This includes the following: - Principles of the Quality Regulation as part of the Incentive Regulation in Germany - Influences on Live Working in low and medium voltage networks - Consequences and further developments.","PeriodicalId":238060,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Live Maintenance (ICOLIM)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134044488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is great uncertainty among many of those responsible for selecting suitable PPE for protection against the thermal effects of an electric fault arc. In recent years, standards have been prepared that provide for PPE, or rather the protection afforded, to be divided into classes, such as Electric Arc Protection among others. In practice, however, there is a big problem in selecting the right PPE with knowledge of the electric arc protection classes, or in deciding whether the proposed work can even be carried out as planned. The methodology set forth in BGI/GUV-I 5188 provides assistance in the selection of suitable PPE for protection against the thermal effects of an electric fault arc. Furthermore, the experience gained in the application of this methodology over almost one year since its initial release is also shared.","PeriodicalId":238060,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Live Maintenance (ICOLIM)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115478676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to address that growing need while minimising down time, Rte has acquired new Temporary Supporting Devices for High Voltage Electrical Substations. Such devices make it possible, per example, to carry out works on busbars keeping uninterrupted service on Rte network. SERECT was asked to design the new device, which was developed in about two years. It meets applicable French, European and LW regulations. These devices offer several benefits: they are versatile, and can be used in 225 kV and 400 kV substations alike. They are designed to enable the execution of works lasting up to 12 weeks (wind resistance up to 180 km/h). They are flexible in use, as they do not require preliminary civil engineering work. They are dimensioned to resist the electrodynamic forces generated by short circuit currents up to 40 kA. Their height is adjustable from 4 m to 8.2 m, allowing them to be adapted to the configuration of the substation. In particular, the device allows the realisation of extension works in HV substations, the connection of new cells, the replacement of equipments and all works on busbars. The development is fully consistent with Rte Live Working policy and its aim to continuously improve the feasibility of work without de-energising the infrastructures of the transmission network. It meets the company's objective of continually improving service quality and customer satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":238060,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Live Maintenance (ICOLIM)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128558912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, suitable \"personal protective equipment\" (PPE) must be worn to protect workers from second-degree burns. However, the protective effect of this PPE is limited depending on the arc fault energy to be expected. Technical measures can also be implemented to additionally protect workers during live working. Arc fault protection systems are capable of reducing the arc energy to an acceptable level by limiting the persistence of the arc fault to some milliseconds. This paper describes the structure, mode of operation and implementation of these protection systems.","PeriodicalId":238060,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Live Maintenance (ICOLIM)","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122639249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
