Untersucht wurden 252 ante partum (a.p.) gesunde BV-, RF-, HF-, FV- sowie GV-Kuhe nach Almabtrieb, 1–2 Wochen a.p., 2–5 Tage (p.p.), 4–7 Wochen p.p. sowie vor Almauftrieb. Analysiert wurden die Klinik und Stoffwechselparameter inklusive Insulin, Revised Quantitative Insulin Sensitivity Check Index (RQUICKI) und Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1). Die Fettmobilisation wurde in der 1. Wochen p.p. nach dem Anteil der freien Fettsauren (FFS) >620 und >1.000 μmol/l sowie von s-Hydroxybutyrat (BHB) >0,62 sowie >1,00 mmol/l bewertet. Fur die Gruppe starkere Lipolyse wurden BV-, FV- und GV-Kuhe mit FFS >620 μmol/l sowie BHB >0,62 mmol/l ausgewahlt. Die Stoffwechselpa-rameter, auser BHB, lagen uberwiegend innerhalb strenger Referenzbereiche. Eine signifi-kante Laktationsdynamik zeigten die FFS (p=0,003), Bilirubin (p=0,003), BHB (p=0,001) und Cholesterol (p=0,005). Auf Gesundheitsrisiken wiesen die FFS, BHB, Harnstoff und AP hin. 3,1 % der Kuhe hatten eine Woche p.p. eine gesteigerte Lipolyse. Kuhe mit hoherer Lipolyse hatten gesicherte Unterschiede (p=0,001) bei FFS, BHB, Insulin und IGF-1, RQUICKI sowie bei den Milch- und Fruchtbarkeitsleistungen gegenuber Kuhen mit geringer Lipolyse. Die Tiroler Kuhe hatten insgesamt einen weitgehend stabilen Stoffwechsel. Kontrollen in der 1. Woche p.p. sind fur Risikoanalysen am besten geeignet. Lipolysebelastungen zeigen sich in der 1. Woche p.p. als Risiken fur subklinische Ketose und schlechtere Fruchtbarkeit. Zur Pro-phylaxe ist besonders auf ausreichende Energieversorgung in der Transitphase zu achten.","PeriodicalId":23711,"journal":{"name":"Wiener tierarztliche Monatsschrift","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88149940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At presentation neurologic deficits consisted of mild bilateral proprioceptive deficits and nerve root signature in the left pelvic limb. A large intervertebral disc herniation L3-L4 located in a right ventrolateral area of the spinal canal was diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging. The herniated disc was removed through right hemilaminectomy and fenestration. The dog recovered quickly and returned to the owners 4 days after surgery with a slight lameness in the left pelvic limb. On the follow-up examination 2 months later the dog showed normal gait and normal neurological examination. Fur die Zeitspanne zwischen dem Auftreten der Lahmheit und dem Beginn der Behandlung konnte ein signifikanter Einfluss auf die Prognose gezeigt werden (p=0,023). Der Lahmheitsgrad (p=0,120), die Grosse der Zyste (p=0,163) und ds Vorhandensein von Arthrose im betroffenen Gelenk zum Zeitpunkt des Therapiebeginns (p=0,137) waren keine signifikanten Risikofaktoren fur den Ausgang der Therapie. Die Daten suggerieren aber einen Trend, dass eine hochgradige Lahmheit, langbestehende Defekte und Arthrose den Therapieerfolg negativ beeinflussen.","PeriodicalId":23711,"journal":{"name":"Wiener tierarztliche Monatsschrift","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2008-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86780708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Benzimidazole-resistant trichostrongyles were detected in fifteen farms (75 %). The degree of resistance was moderate to high in the majority of the farms, the mean reduction of the faecal egg counts after treatment was only 66 %. The LDso averaged at 0.44 µg/ml thiabendazole (cut off: 0.1 µg/ml). In those thirteen farms, in which both tests were carried out, the results were corresponding. A benzimidazole-resistant population of Haemonchus contortus (LDso 0.62 µg/ml) was isolated for the first time in Switzerland. This parasite was the domi nating resistant species in the majority of the farms. Although this survey is not representative for the very heterogenous sheep and goat husbandry systems in Switzerland, the rate of farms which had to be classified as resistant is alarming. The frequent movements of sheep and goats most likely contribute considerably to the spread of resistant populations between flocks. In particular, the common practice of grazing animals from different farms an alpine pastures and the integration of untreated animals into new flocks represent major risk factors. lt is recommended, that the efficacy of benzimidazoles should be checked regularly with the FECRT in sheep and goat farms.","PeriodicalId":23711,"journal":{"name":"Wiener tierarztliche Monatsschrift","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2000-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76592103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The brains were also examined for neurohistological lesions. In the subdural space of the brain of five red deer a female nematode was recovered and identified as Elaphostrongylus sp. The histopathological examination of the brains revealed significantly more inflammatory, degenerative or combined lesions in goats than in red deer. Fourty-nine red deer and thirty-eight goats had no lesions in the brain. The lesions were minimal and consisted exclusively of nonpurulent infiltrations. No etiological agent could be found for the neurological changes. However Elaphostrongylus is able to produce similar lesions in specific as well as in nonspecific hosts and represents a likely cause for the histopathological findings.","PeriodicalId":23711,"journal":{"name":"Wiener tierarztliche Monatsschrift","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"1998-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77989168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
