Information technology has influenced positively on library and information systems, services and protection of library resources for users. Mining of hidden and advance knowledge that is potentially useful including safeguarding these information resources that has been mined from compromise or loss cannot be overemphasize. This study enumerates various data mining and data protection technologies use in the 21st Century library including the benefit of using these technologies in the library. However, the study illustrated the challenges encounter in the use of these technologies to include computer network support, using a variety of data mining, deeply mining, coordination of information management personnel and finally centering on readers and timely processing feedback information. The study conclude that data mining and data protection technologies are cross-discipline, and are one of the most cutting-edge researches in the international database and information system, so its use in the 21st Century library is still in its infancy and that the learning and use of these technologies should be strengthen since it is a new trend in librarianship.

The objectives of this study\u0000 were to find out the purpose of OPAC use among LIS undergraduates, to find out the\u0000 extent undergraduates use OPAC, level of satisfaction of OPAC use and to identify the\u0000 constraints associated with the use of OPAC among the undergraduates. The descriptive\u0000 survey design was used adopted for this study. One thousand, four hundred and forty\u0000 (1,440) questionnaires were distributed and nine hundred and twenty (920) were\u0000 retrieved. The total enumerative sampling techniques was used to select the entire\u0000 population. Data generated were analysed using simple percentage and frequencies.\u0000 Finding revealed that LIS undergraduate in Southern Nigeria use OPAC for the purpose of\u0000 identifying books using author, title and subject. However, they use it to a little\u0000 extent and they were satisfied to a large extent with its use. power failure, inadequate\u0000 OPAC terminals or workstations, lack of proper guidance from the library staff and lack\u0000 of skills to use OPAC independently were some of the constraints associated with use of\u0000 OPAC. The recommended among others, that alternative sources of power supply should be\u0000 provided in libraries considering the erratic nature of power supply in Nigeria. The\u0000 objectives of the study include: to ascertain how the rural farmers access agricultural\u0000 information through mobile phones in Karaye Local Government Area, Kano State; find out\u0000 the sources of accessing agricultural information by rural farmers in Karaye Local\u0000 Government Area; and determine the challenges that these farmers face in accessing\u0000 agricultural information through mobile phones. A survey research method was used for\u0000 the study. The study population comprised 1,279 registered rural farmers, 121 farmers,\u0000 and three (3) wards were purposively selected as sample. A structured and closed-ended\u0000 questionnaire was designed and used for the data collection. One hundred and twenty-one\u0000 (121) copies of the questionnaires were administered to the registered farmers, out of\u0000 which 95 copies were returned, representing 78%. Data collected were analysed using\u0000 descriptive statistics of frequencies and percentages. The findings of the study reveal\u0000 that rural farmers' significant mean access to agricultural information through mobile\u0000 phones was short message service (SMS); that most farmers sourced agricultural\u0000 information from their other farmers (colleagues) through mobile phones; that majority\u0000 of the rural farmers indicated that the inability to access agricultural information\u0000 from the formal sources (research institutes, extension workers, researchers) and lack\u0000 of sufficient and wide mobile phone network coverage in the communities were the\u0000 challenges being faced. The study recommends that: the Federal Government of Nigeria\u0000 should through the National Communication Commission (NCC) liaise with telecommunication\u0000 companies to reduce the rate of call charges so that rural farmers can make direct calls\u0000 apart from Short Message Service (SMS) to extension workers or any other agricultural\u0000 stakeholders to access agrarian information easily. Farmers should be sourcing\u0000 agricultural information from research institutes, researchers, and extension workers\u0000 apart from their colleagues (other farmers) to access relevant and up-to-date\u0000 information to help achieve sufficient production and prevent poor harvest. The study\u0000 concludes that with the timely access to relevant agricultural information by rural\u0000 famers Nigeria can attain food sufficiency.

Census sampling technique was used to sample all the 43 Nigerian Federal university libraries. Structured questionnaire was adopted for data collection. Data were analysed using frequency count and mean scores. Results indicated that the traditional roles were rooted in acquisition and preservation of information and in the provision of access to information in various formats. The respondents agreed with only 7 of the possible 18 emerging roles of libraries indicating that the understudied libraries are slow in attuning to the internet, World Wide Web and ICT. Respondents agreed with 11 out 15 possible challenges militating against the adoption of emerging roles of academic libraries in information service delivery. Most of these challenges are administrative and personnel. It was concluded that while university libraries are aware of the traditional roles of libraries, they are yet to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the trio of the internet, World Wide Web and ICT. The recommendation is that the library should adopt the technologies of the internet, World Wide Web and ICT and acquire necessary training in implementation of these innovations to boost library service delivery.

The study adopted a descriptive survey and used total enumeration technique to\u0000 capture all the 122 population as a sample for participation. The instrument employed in\u0000 gathering data for this study was questionnaire that was subjected to face validation\u0000 and reliability. The instrument was also found to be reliable as the Cronbach alpha\u0000 method was used to establish its internal consistency which yielded .708. The data were\u0000 analyzed by applying descriptive statistics using the Statistical Package for Social\u0000 Science (SPSS) Version 23.0. The study found that all the agricultural lecturers in the\u0000 selected universities extensively used Search Engine to link up electronic resources for\u0000 scholarly communication; Global System of Mobile Telecommunication (GSM)/Laptop and\u0000 departmental offices were found to be extensively used as the points from where the\u0000 agricultural lecturers accessed and used electronic resources for scholarly\u0000 communication. The study concluded that agricultural lecturers in both universities were\u0000 not fully utilizing potential electronic library resources for scholarly communication.\u0000 Agricultural lecturers seldom visited the university library to access and use\u0000 electronic resources for scholarly communication because of problems they encountered in\u0000 a few times they had previously visited. These problems were found to be overwhelming\u0000 and seemed to suggest that the libraries were not ready as an essential part of the\u0000 academic system to provide necessary psychological boost for agricultural lecturers\u0000 which were needed to encourage them to visit the libraries in search of more reliable,\u0000 relevant and authoritative electronic resources for scholarly communication. The study\u0000 recommended the need by library management to evaluate existing knowledge gaps of the\u0000 library staff. It is a new\u0000 concept for collecting, managing disseminating and preserving scholarly works created in\u0000 digital form by users in individual academic institutions. An institutional repository\u0000 is also a set of services that a university offers to members of its community for the\u0000 management and dissemination of digital materials created by the institution and its\u0000 community members. Deposit of material in an institutional repository is mandated by the\u0000 institution. Some of the main objectives for having an institutional repository are to\u0000 provide open access to institutional research output by self-archiving in an open access\u0000 repository, to create global visibility for an institution's scholarly research, and to\u0000 store and preserve other institutional digital assets, including unpublished or\u0000 otherwise easily lost literature such as theses, working papers or technical reports.\u0000 Knowledge sharing is the voluntary process of transferring or disseminating knowledge\u0000 from one person to another person or group in an organization or the intentional sharing\u0000 of awareness and experiences among learners with the goal of not only enriching their\u0000 own individual learning, but also of creating or maintaining a common repository of\u0000 reusable knowledge objects. However, in this electronic publishing age, academic\u0000 institutions including universities have increasingly recognised that an institutional\u0000 repository is an essential infrastructure of scholarly dissemination. Studies have however shown that some people including students do not seek information appropriately. Several factors, one of which include social media use, have been suggested to be responsible for this. This study therefore examined social media use, and information seeking behaviour of library and information science (LIS) undergraduates in southwestern Nigeria. The descriptive survey research design of the correlational type was adopted for this study. The population consisted of 463 LIS undergraduates in three universities in Southwestern Nigeria. Stratified random sampling technique was used to arrive at the sample size of 277. Data was collected with the aid of questionnaire. Descriptive statistics such as percentages, mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics such as Pearson Product Moment Correlation and multiple regression analysis were used in presenting the data. The findings of the study revealed that the most used social media platforms by LIS undergraduates were WhatsApp ( ̅ ), Facebook ( ̅ , YouTube ( ̅ and Instagram ( ̅ .Most of the LIS undergraduates 218 (87.6%) and 122 (49.0%) revealed that they made use of WhatsApp and Facebook on a daily basis. Majority of the respondents used the social media for information dissemination ( ̅ , communication ( ̅ , and assignment completion ( ̅ . The most prominent information sources used by the respondents were online databases ( ̅ . Majority of the LIS undergraduates sought information to be outstanding academically ( ̅ . Most of the respondents accessed the needed information on the Internet through their smart phones ( ̅ . The major factor affecting information seeking by majority of the respondents was slow internet connectivity ( ̅ .the study also revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between social media use and information seeking behaviour (r = .342, p< 0.05). The study concluded that social media use is critical to information seeking behaviour in this digital era, and therefore recommended that lecturers in the library schools should create social media groups in which all the students will be encouraged to join and marks awarded for level of interaction and participation.

Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The research adopted quasi-experimental design of pre-test post-test control group. A sample of sixty-six (66) students from two multistage selected public tertiary institutions out of a population of three hundred and ten(312) third year students from four public tertiary institutions in Anambra State, Nigeria was used for the study. The instrument for data collection was the Internet and Electronic Libraries Achievement Test (IELAT) with the reliability value of 0.86 using Kuder-Richardson (KR-21). The research questions were analyzed using mean and standard deviation while hypotheses were tested using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA).The result of data analysis showed that blended learning strategy enhanced students’ academic achievement in electronic libraries. Blended learning is more effective in enhancing female students’ academic achievement in electronic libraries. It was recommended that electronic libraries lecturers should adopt blended learning strategy as an effective strategy for teaching electronic libraries, Lecturers in tertiary institution should endeavor to attend workshops, seminars to acquire instructional pedagogical strategy skills.
