In this regard, it is necessary to revise not only the established approaches to teaching but also the form of the final certification. It should be also considered that most students now perceive information from the outside world through their eyes, that is, they are visual learners. The paper presents the experience of the implementation of imitation methods of teaching in the disciplines of the educational program “Electric Power and Electrical Engineering” at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU). Examples of intermediate attestation of students in an interactive form are presented: brainstorming, charades, defense of the work to an invited expert, etc. In addition, the process of transition from the classic oral exam to the Case exam is considered in detail. The authors share their experience and talk about the difficulties in introducing interactive teaching methods into the power engineering education.","PeriodicalId":236445,"journal":{"name":"2020 Ural Smart Energy Conference (USEC)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116808885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Proposed algorithm is based on industrial controller operation structure manufactured by Prosoft Systems with built-in Rogowsky coil as current sensors. Thus, based on features of Rogowski coil, initial data for this approach is not a second current, but its derivate. The basic idea is to identify discontinuity points in the collected data, where signal goes from saturated to unsaturated part and in the reverse direction, and apply the short window effective value calculation algorithm, to the segment of unsaturated current curve instead of the whole window Fourier transformation. The data for this study is collected during Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation on eMEAGASIM OPAL-RT complex with Doble F6350e amplifiers. The short window approach results in accuracy increasing in effective value calculation, which can further be used in protection and control algorithms without time delay.","PeriodicalId":236445,"journal":{"name":"2020 Ural Smart Energy Conference (USEC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123306774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Authors compare windstand forces between short circuit and turning on no-load mode operating modes. The risk of damage of a winding by an inrush current, that occurs during the process of turning on no-load mode was assessed. The values of the inrush current and the short circuit currents were calculated for ORTS417000/750/24/24 transformer. Conclusions about the possibility of reaching a value close to the short - circuit current by inrush currents in certain situations are made. Calculations of magnetic fields and electrodynamic forces in the transformer for these operating modes are performed. Conclusions about the influence of the operating mode of the transformer on the value and place of application of electrodynamic forces are made. It is concluded that it is necessary to take into account the process of turning on noload mode when checking the electrodynamic windstand of transformers.","PeriodicalId":236445,"journal":{"name":"2020 Ural Smart Energy Conference (USEC)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121442508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is aggravated by the fact that the power of tap varies widely. Usually, known solutions are based on the use of either maximum or average value of the tap power. As a result, both approaches are lack of the optimal solution and lead to a significant narrowing of the protection zone. The article proves that the tap at the protection zone introduces the greatest error in the estimation of the power swing center location if it is located directly near the installation site of the power swing protection. A new method of tap power accounting in the functioning of power swing protection is proposed. It is established that the optimal setting of the power swing protection, which ensures the uniformity of the error in accounting the tap power value in the algorithmic model of the network, is the complex power vector equidistant from the upper and lower boundaries of the tap complex power. The importance of introducing an extended zone into the protection zone is shown, where the power swing protection device operates with a delay.","PeriodicalId":236445,"journal":{"name":"2020 Ural Smart Energy Conference (USEC)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132366516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The introductory paper of the paper highlights the impact of the quality of the landfill gas on the operational characteristics of power generation facilities. The authors analyze fuel consumption of an individual generator depending on the methane concentration and energy production per year. Dynamic behavior of gas-reciprocating engine was investigated in the second part of the paper, given specific characteristics of fuel consumption. The authors developed the model in Matlab Simulink in order to analyze steady-state and transient operation modes. It was founded that methane concentration influences the generator operation mode, and, consequently, power and energy production. The concluding part of the study describes the state incentives, aimed at waste-based generation development stimulation. General assessment of implementation potential together with the foreseen barriers to overcome towards industry-scale implementation are discussed.","PeriodicalId":236445,"journal":{"name":"2020 Ural Smart Energy Conference (USEC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115080534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structure of a microprocessing joint power control and the hydraulic units control strategy are proposed. The authors of the study have developed hardware and software for the microprocessing joint power control. A new method for calculating the optimal distribution of active load between generators is set forward, based on the dependences of the specific increment in water rate on the power. The developed microprocessing joint power control was put into operation at three hydroelectric power plants in the Siberian Federal District, Russia. The analysis of the joint power control showed that the application of the proposed method makes it possible to determine the optimal load distribution at each control step with sufficient accuracy. Testing the optimization algorithm operation based on the proposed method in the joint power controls of these hydroelectric power plants showed the possibility and efficiency of its application in microprocessing controllers.","PeriodicalId":236445,"journal":{"name":"2020 Ural Smart Energy Conference (USEC)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115086140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structure of the model changes depending on the set of measurements. The mathematical description of the model core is given. The example of calculation for measurement results of electric mode parameters of the hydro-generator with full rated power 370 MVA during the real electromechanical transient process is conducted and explained. The inertia moment of the turbine’s and hydro-generator’s rotating mass was determined based on the calculation. The suggested adaptive model can be applied to emergency control tasks, including post-event emergency control and estimation of technical conditions of synchronous machines. It is shown, that response of adaptive model of the synchronous machine depends on measurement sampling rate.
