We developed our own AI-Based Expert System shell for rule-based and case-based reasoning three decades ago and now there are 160 Knowledge Engineering (KE) process behind us with this system. We hope that this experience give us the right to formulate an opinion about that what is the key to a better usability and user experience in understanding of the result of the decision making process. While we do not think that ES is an omnipotent panacea, we also do not think that its applicability is determined only by the shell capabilities. However, one ability is essential; namely, presenting the result as simply as possible in order to that the decision-maker also can understand it. Our finding is that ES shells are only able to be transparent if they are designed by people who have an understanding of the human thinking process instead of a strong math-based software development approach.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125306976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For some groups of people expressing, communicating, and seeking pain relief is not possible, due to age, illness, disability, or unconsciousness. To support caregivers, pain detection through physiological measures can be a solution. Currently, an algorithm for an application indicating arousal according to electrodermal changes has been developed and tested. Pain is unique to every person, so new research and algorithm development are necessary to assess which measurable signals coincide with pain. A mobile application utilising such algorithms would allow caregivers to better attend to the patients' needs in daily practice. This study aims to develop an application that can signal pain for caregivers of persons with communication difficulties and examine whether utilizing this software solution, pain can be reliably detected in an experimental setting. Visual analysis of plotted results from a pilot study indicates that within the same person pain shows significant deviation from relaxation and neutral experiences. Further research is needed to examine the reliability of pain detection.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125505923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Speech is a process that is controlled by a complex system in humans. Parkinson's disease also affects speech production. In this work, we examine the speech fluency of PD patients using two language-independent segmentation method: forward-backward divergence segmentation (FBDS) and transient-stationary segmentation (TSS). Significance tests show that most features are different among the two groups. Support vector machines were applied performing automatic classification tests. The highest achieved accuracy was 0.76 with 0.72 F1-score. This implies that the features calculated may help in differentiating PD from healthy speech and aid a decision support tool without the need of a complex, language-dependent ASR system.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131785824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Machine Learning methods are vital elements of modern cognitive infocommunications systems because they can be used in various ways such as behavior modeling or sentiment analysis. Machine Learning algorithms requires a reliable infrastructure and vast amount of data. Therefore building data warehouse systems is one of the essential steps of of building reliable cognitive infocommunication systems. Finding and preprocessing data streams of different origins are the first steps during the creation of a data warehouse. Unfortunately, online data streams are most often formatted uniquely. Therefore, the obtained data sets must be transformed into a unified data model. The modelling and conversion of data sources serves as a key step during the unification of heterogeneous data. Storage should be persistent, and optimized for the analytical processing of data. These requirements raise technological challenges that are not common during the design of data sources. This paper gives an overview of current data warehouse technologies and suggests an infrastructure implementation. Hive is used for accessing, modifying, and running complex analytics on the stored data sets. Economical data can often be unique to the product, or the industry it covers. Different data sources used unique data formats which were tailored for their application area or needs. Moreover, some of these data sources may change their format in time. Therefore, a flexible data transformation step is required which can be configured easily. The ETL processes of the data sources are implemented in Python, and Hive. The data is loaded in a Hive data warehouse which stores data in the distributed Hadoop File System.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115804518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method that proved to be the most successful is what the authors called the Users' Focus In Needs & Development (UFIND) method. UFIND is based on continuous feedback from the user, on usability and on gamification as it steps away from the classical software development methods. The aim of UFIND is that instead of the tasks, not only the application, but the user as well should always be in the center of focus while making the application. This also means that certain abilities, even the cognitive skills of the user can be developed further in each test cycle. In this paper, the authors would like to define and introduce the UFIND method of application development and compare it to other, traditional development methods. All five phases of the UFIND method are elaborated in this paper, thus giving a detailed look into this user-centered application development method and presenting why it is useful for developing serious games.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123892506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To what extent was the work of designers-developers determined by the quarantine, and by the possible time constraints? Which part of their work did they reduce most, and what could go on unchanged? The BPXV app was developed at the request of the 15th district of Budapest to help the district residents to shop and get their medicines during the confinement. A refreshing exception among the examples is the app created to replace Easter watering, Locsolkodj.hu. I also present two solutions suitable for contact tracking, the Virus Radar created in Macedonia, which became the official Hungarian contact tracking app, and the Austrian STOPP CORONA interface/platform? In order to find out the answers to the above questions, I conducted written and telephone interviews with the owners, designers, developers, or researchers of each site. Learning about design and development, I was interested in how the development of these apps, designed and developed at the time of the confinement, differed from the usual process - what the designers reduced, where were the, ,cuts” made. Based on the experience with the small sample, I found that the possibilities were typically limited in the user needs assessment and testing, but the Austrian example is a refreshing exception: it was tested by different methods, with the participation of the greatest number of real users (and not official employees or internal team members). It is a general experience that in the case of researched and introduced apps and websites designed and developed during a pandemic typically decreased the amount of classic user and usability tests. It is also characteristic that to the west of Hungary, the apps are tested by users, to the east by offices / officials / developers.","PeriodicalId":236400,"journal":{"name":"2020 11th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128319382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
