Methods that can provide automatic and accurate segmentation of the AAA can significantly help in preoperative planning and postoperative follow-ups. Therefore, in this work, we present an automatic method for AAA segmentation from CT images using a modified 3D U-Net network with deep supervision. We compare obtained results for AAA segmentation using original 3D U-Net, and modified 3D U-Net with deep supervision. The trained network is evaluated on 19 volumetric CT images from the publicly available dataset provided by the University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium, using four-fold cross-validation. We obtained DSC of 91.03% using modified 3D U-Net with deep supervision. Additionally, we provide a discussion of the effects of using up-sampling versus deconvolution layers and its influence on the performance of both networks for this specific clinical application.","PeriodicalId":235289,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"213 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116429401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ensuring stability is recognized as the greatest challenge in the design. Whenever standard two-port amplifiers are used for power amplification, the stability is ensured by minimizing the input-output coupling, which inevitably leads to polarization selection, polarization conversion and nonreciprocal response of reflective metasurfaces. If these effects are not desirable, reflection amplifiers may be used. Reflection amplifiers based on negative-impedance converters employ a positive and a negative feedback loop to generate negative resistance required for power amplification, which makes them even more prone to instability. Their stability depends directly on the impedance of the radiating element. A reliable approach to stability analysis of reflection amplifiers based on negative-impedance converters is not yet available.","PeriodicalId":235289,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121060386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most interesting element of today are Generative Adversarial Networks. These networks are able to handle various challenging transformation or difficult generative tasks. In this paper, we will try to improve the success of state of the art of detection models by applying appropriate segmentation and transformation on historical images. We have modified a set of historical images using GAN networks. Then we have compared object detectors on the original images with the new generated ones. The main motivation of the research is to improve the facial biometric system, which highly depends on detection phase. At the end we have compared the outputs from non-face detectors before and after dataset modification.","PeriodicalId":235289,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114686528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, in this paper, we propose a semi-automatic method for centerline extraction and tracking of the single coronary artery. Our approach is based on ridge edge detection and thresholding, after which the centerline of a vessel tree is extracted using skeletonization. After that, we manually select two points: at the start and the end of the single coronary artery. Finding the shortest path between selected points is used for single coronary centerline extraction. Finally, the template matching of selected points allows centerline tracking through the whole sequence. Obtained results show successful centerline extraction and tracking with satisfactory accuracy, precision, sensitivity and F1-score, of 81%, 79%, 81% and 0.76, respectively.","PeriodicalId":235289,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127659691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Engine failure or propeller disintegration poses a significant risk to the operation of each node of the swarm and if it happens the system should be able to tolerate such malfunction by reconfiguring the swarm and reforming if it is necessary. In this paper, a fault-tolerant control system for an autonomous leader–follower based swarm of drones is presented. For defining the fault model, the full failure of an engine is considered as an emergency situation, and the controller of each node is facilitated to reconfigure the swarm from imposing a bottom-up reformation to bypass the faulty node, which keeps the formation intact as much as possible. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique with respect to reliability and robust stability.","PeriodicalId":235289,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128056177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To substantiate the approach, the transceiver models in the monostatic and bistatic versions are presented in the form of a set of earlier developed nonlinear electrical equivalent circuits for active optoelectronic units. Based on them, the results of simulation experiments and confirming them experimental research of a transceiver with an instantaneous bandwidth of 5 GHz in the operating range 5.5–10.5 GHz are highlighted.","PeriodicalId":235289,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129322843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The device consists of two identical antennas, a negative impedance converter (NIC) and a tuning circuit. Admittance of one of the antennas is negatively converted via NIC, and cancelled by the positive admittance of the second identical antenna. With the change of frequency, admittances of both antennas change in the exactly same manner. It makes a self-oscillating and perfectly matched pair of antennas, regardless of the operating frequency. The adjustment of the frequency of a self-oscillating signal is achieved by the additional tunable resonant circuit. This paper analyses dynamics of oscillations of such self-oscillating radiating system and compares it with a classical negative resistance oscillator. Moreover, a simple numerical tool for prediction of the frequency and amplitude of oscillations is proposed.","PeriodicalId":235289,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium ELMAR","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132445811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
