Feature extraction methods based on principal component analysis (PCA), independent component analysis (ICA), and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) are capable of improving the performances of classifiers. In this paper, we propose two features extraction approaches, which integrate with the extracted features of PCA and ICA through some statistical criterion. The performances of the proposed feature extraction approaches are evaluated on simulated data and three public data sets by using cross-validation accuracy of different classifiers that found in statistics and machine learning literature. Our experiment result shows that integrated with ICA and PCA feature is more effective than others in classification analysis.","PeriodicalId":234499,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 13th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125092551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work mainly aims at the reduction of zero-Doppler clutter (ZDC) for fixed background in high resolution radar imaging of rotating targets. Existing signal processing techniques for ZDC suppression are first addressed. An improved procedure is developed to avoid the defects of existing techniques. The traditional pLSA models performed poorly since the statistical model are hardly narrowing the semantic gap between low-level image features and high-level emotion concepts. To address this problem, this paper introduces the affective concept from art theory to bridge the semantic gap. To be specific, the pLEA model first builds the relations between visual words and affective concepts. And then discovers the latent emotion topics based on the affective concepts. Meanwhile, we exploit the training images labels to modulate the learning process of latent emotion topics, aiming to make them similar to the actual image emotion labels. Once obtained the emotion topics, the appearing frequency of the corresponding emotion topics in a given image forms a histogram, which can be subsequently used in the scene categorization task via the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. The proposed approach has been tested on the International Affective Picture System (IAPS) and a set of artistic photography and abstract paintings. The experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method for eliciting image emotions.","PeriodicalId":234499,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 13th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115078569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ground-truth emotion scores of each frame are firstly obtained from our dataset annotated by humans. Then, we extract emotional features of each frame from training set videos. After that, we train our predictive model from the feature vectors and emotion scores by using linear regression. Meanwhile, videos are partitioned into several segments. We select a subset of segments in the video whose length is below a specific value by optimizing the sum of their emotion scores. This subset of segments can be treated as the emotional video summarization desired. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme can achieve an effective emotional video summarization.","PeriodicalId":234499,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 13th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP)","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115079188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, TOA-based methods require strict time synchronization between nodes, which puts forward high requirements on the hardware and power consumption of sensor nodes. For the high cost hardware problem of TOA-based methods, we propose a TOA-based iterative algorithm (iTOA) that can be applied to the wireless system under the condition of low time synchronization precision to achieve high positioning precision. Without the restriction of strict time synchronization, iTOA can reduce the difficulty of hardware implementation. iTOA eliminates the time synchronization error via iteration and minimizes the non-line-of-sight propagation error by using the weighted least square method at the same time. Moreover, iTOA can be applied to the network with changing beacons. The simulation results show that the average positioning precision improves at least 27.2% and 38.3% compared to CCTG and LOP, respectively. As the time synchronization precision decreases, the positioning precision improvement is more obvious compared to CCTG and LOP. For a low time synchronization precision system, the positioning error of iTOA is almost 99.99% less than both CCTG and LOP.","PeriodicalId":234499,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 13th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122638260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we proposed a wearable prototype system for bio-impedance measurement. A tetrapolar Analog-Front-End (4E-AFE) was designed to fully adapt the AD5933 to a four electrode strategy. A normal oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) in vivo were conducted to investigate the feasibility of the prototype system. The impedance spectroscopy on fingertip within the frequency range of 10 KHz–100 KHz were measured. The characteristic parameters, R0, R∞ α, fc, Re, Ri, of the bio-impedance equivalent model were extracted. Experimental results shows that the characteristic parameter fc is maximum and then decreasing gradually during period of postprandial 0.5h-1h. Lastly, the value of fc is rising again at postprandial 1.5h, which indicate an inverse behavior that might be an expected response for blood glucose levels based on the OGTT.","PeriodicalId":234499,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 13th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP)","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128479008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scheme of a photonic RF channelizer employing a flat optical frequency comb based on cascaded intensity modulator (IM) and phase modulator (PM) is described and the performance of the adopted OFC generator is investigated through simulation. By tuning the power and the phase of the driven signal respectively, 8 lines and 12 lines flat OFCs spaced by 40 GHz with the flatness less than 2.2dB and 1.1dB are achieved. The simulation results confirms the cost-effective generation of a very flat OFC, which is suitable for the RF channelizer and makes the real-time, high-resolution monitoring of the entire RF spectrum feasible.","PeriodicalId":234499,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 13th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128727507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we combine CRC and multiple kernel learning approach, propose the multiple kernel collaborative representation based classification (MKCRC) method, and apply it to image classification to learn the weights of different subregions in representing the image. Generally, temporal methods and inpainting methods are used to remove the clouds. The temporal methods reconstruct cloudy areas via a series of multi-temporal images, thus suffer from the assumption that the landscape does not change over a period of time. The inpainting methods fill the areas via image patches from the image itself. Lacking prior information of the cloudy areas, these methods are limited in reconstructing accuracy, especially when clouds lie on the boundaries of two types of landscapes. We propose a new method based on the inpanting method which take the SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images as a prior structure information of contaminated. Using information from two kinds of images acquired at the same time, the proposed method also avoids inaccuracy caused by land changes in temporal methods. This idea has been demonstrated by experiments carried out on Theme Mapper data and Sentinel-1A data. In terms of RMSE (Root Mean Square Error), the proposed method is evaluated and compared with several other cloud removal algorithm.","PeriodicalId":234499,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 13th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP)","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124618954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose two channel state selection algorithms called CS-MBM and CS-MSBM for SIMO-MBM with only MBM information transmitted and with both MBM and source-based modulation (SBM) information transmitted, respectively. The proposed channel state selection algorithms can reduce the complexity significantly especially at large constellation size. Simulation results show that although both algorithms suffer from a little loss in performance with large signal-to-noise (SNR) at small constellation size, they perform well at large constellation size and even better at some specific SNR region. These two algorithms can also be combined with other reduced complexity schemes to further decrease the complexity of channel state selection.","PeriodicalId":234499,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 13th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129702320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
