Modeling techniques play a crucial role in the creation as well as evaluation of processing and networking algorithms for wireless sensor networks. Unrealistic data and environment models usually lead to inefficient algorithms of poor performance in terms of power consumption and data accuracy. This paper studies advanced modeling techniques for sensor networks, including the modeling of applications and tasks, reality data and sensor measurements, nodes and system composition, communication, environment and deployment, and mobility. The objective is to feature out the architecture and main issues for building more realistic models, in order to improve those commonly used simplified ones in current research","PeriodicalId":232800,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Symposium on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129146993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It's security is based on the security of elliptic curve cryptography. This scheme has the following characteristics: The precondition of (t ,n) -threshold secret sharing scheme that all assignees' purview must be same is generalized. A verifiable infrastructure is provided, which can be used to detect the cheaters from dealer and assignees. The shared key distributed by dealer is encrypted based on elliptic curve cryptography, which enhances the security. Meanwhile the length of key of elliptic curve cryptography is much less than RSA cryptography, so the current scheme is of less computation cost and communication cost which is valuable in applications with limited memory, communication bandwidth or computing power","PeriodicalId":232800,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Symposium on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126755010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There have been growing interest in pervasive computing environments. Peppered with wireless, mobile and embedded devices, such environments are characterized by a degree of dynamism not common in traditional distributed systems. A fundamental problem highlighted by such emerging environments is how to satisfy and sustain an application's service requirements in the face of continuous changes in available resources. An application in such an environment cannot be programmed to depend on a predetermined set of resources to access a service. Rather, resources must be dynamically discovered and opportunistically utilized to sustain the application's service requirements in its changing environment. In this talk, the author describe three systems, developed as part of Project Oxygen at MIT, that take different approaches to opportunistic service access. The first system, intentional naming system (INS, SOSP'01), integrates adaptive service access with the network routing layer. The second architecture, dubbed service-oriented network sockets (SoNS, MobiSys'03), handles the dynamism of the system at the end-host session layer and combines a service-oriented abstraction with the operating system socket interface. Finally, light-weight adaptive network sockets (LANS, MC2R Jan'05), combines the lightweight operation of INS with the end-to-end semantics of SoNS, while offering richer semantics for adaptive access in shared environments. The author conclude with comments about our over-arching project aimed at formalizing a similar high-level (goal-oriented) abstraction as a language-level primitive for programming adaptive behavior","PeriodicalId":232800,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Symposium on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130386092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Taking in instead of ignoring the ever-increasing number of mobile users is important and urgent to save legacy properties and maintain business prosperity. And a uniform access to heterogeneous end hosts is most desirable for computationally challenged mobile devices. To address the above two issues, this paper proposes a mobile adaptive data accessing middleware (MADAM). It uses a non-intrusive way to mobilize legacy systems and offer a consistent accessing interface to mobile users. MADAM provides the adaptability of heterogeneity for both sides. On the client side, a context structure is used to differentiate clients' circumstances. On the server side, a service registration mechanism allows components customized for specific servers to be easily added or removed. MADAM achieves good extensibility and performance by adopting a semi service oriented architecture. Experiments with a prototype implementation show the validity of MADAM","PeriodicalId":232800,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Symposium on Pervasive Computing and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132586741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cooperation and interaction in such system inspired by biological system seem to be more and more complex and inconceivable because of highly dynamic, distributed and unpredicted features. The common stigmergy in biological decentralized system characterizes the important process that the individual agents indirectly interact with an environment by making changes to it. Through context-aware, these changes can raise the emergence that makes the swarming system more coherent, adaptive and robust. Understanding and exploiting emergence is key to study and engineer global coherent behavior in pervasive computing. This paper describes the process of emergence arisen from stigmergy in swarming, and present the fundamental mathematic method to gain more deeply insight of emergence. This paper analyzed the influence of the measurand-strain (axial strain and radial strain) and temperature effect on propagation wave phase in fiber-optic sensors. The equations of propagation wave phase shift caused by strain and temperature change were deduced, and sensitivity coefficients of strain and temperature were obtained. Then we described the cross-sensitivity's physical mechanics of the fiber sensor and obtained cross-sensitivity coefficient. With double wavelength single detecting the change of strain and temperature simultaneously, the cross-sensitivity can be solved. Using the highly elliptical core two-mode fiber as the sensing fiber, two wavelengths 580nm, 600nm as sensor signal, the linear equations were obtained.
