Two classical de-noising methods: wavelet transform (WT) method and the finite impulse response filter (FIR filter) are used and compared. For testing, real recordings were used and the evaluation was based on subjective observation and listening to signal improvement after performing individual methods. The results showed that both methods contributed to improved fPCG extraction from noise abdominal phonocardiogram (aPCG). On the basis of the subjective evaluation, in the end, we identified WT as a more appropriate method for processing the fPCG signal.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125581595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the promising methods for fetal monitoring is fetal phonocardiography which is based on recording fetal heart sounds. This paper presents a compact low-cost device for multi lead fHR measurement. The device introduced allows monitoring of fHR non-invasively and with no side effects for the mother or the foetus. In this case, the device presented is used to measure HR of the adult to compare the performance of various stethoscope heads. In addition to this measurement, the LabVIEW application for signal processing and analysis was improved.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125591779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results from focus groups we held in daily care showed a strong need for support in terms of information about the health and wellbeing of the person with cognitive impairment (PwCI). The health monitoring application developed in this study, called HELMA, aims to offer a solution by monitoring the health and wellbeing of the PwCI in the long term and informing the informal caregivers. HELMA is an eHealth application that uses short frequent online monitoring questions to provide informal caregivers with information about the following health and wellbeing domains: physical; mental; social; and environmental. The next step is to evaluate HELMA on a large scale with end-users in daily practice.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117245959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The characteristics of individual patients were analysed and evaluated to improve their diagnostics and treatment as well as to understand background of diseases in deeper details. To obtain clinically relevant and comparable results, we have involved also the group healthy subject into the study. The unilateral vestibular deficiency in those healthy subjects was simulated by injection of tepid water into the ear canal. The acquired results of the study convinced us that the vestibular diseases cause significant orientation errors and that the motion analysis systems offer efficient ways to quantify their values.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115833854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although these efforts have proven fruitful, e.g., by improving the speech enhancement algorithms, further work is needed to improve the automatic and individualized selection of such algorithms, enhance services provided by the hearing aid acousticians to hearing aid users, and support their work by increasing the connectivity of hearing aids. This paper provides a brief overview of the connectivity features available in modern hearing aids as well as the recent developments in acoustic scenes classifiers before describing an hardware / software architecture designed to exploit advances made in both those fields. This proposed architecture offers support to both hearing aid users and professionals of the hearing aid industry.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127114958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each case is usually discussed in multidisciplinary teams or committees, called breast units. They are composed by oncologists, surgeons, psychologists and other specialist, and they use to have very limited time, around 3 to 10 minutes per patient, to make a treatment decision. Some cases may be quite \"easy\", but 10-20% of the cases are not so clear - what we called \"grey areas\", and they may not be supported by clinical guidelines, which are the standards used by clinicians to make treatment decisions. Therefore, we need tools to support clinicians in their decision making process. For that DESIREE, the system presented in this demo, is composed by three main components: (i) an image based breast and tumour characterization tool, (ii) a predictive model after breast conservative therapy and radio-biological model, and (iii) a clinical decision support system with three main components: a guideline based CDSS, which implements various international and local guidelines; a similarity based CDSS, where its possible to explore given treatments to closest patients, and the most significant variables they share with the patient to treat; and the experience based CDSS, which processes all information from previous cases and generates new knowledge, augmenting the guidelines. All these are supported by DESIMS (i.e. DESiree Information Management System), a Security and Access Control module and an image system for image and models visualization.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123208538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, healthcare professionals need to read and provide feedback on the gathered sensor data which represent patient’s vital signs. This qualitative study examined healthcare professionals’ attitudes towards the application of remote patient monitoring through sensor networks in developing regions using semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis of the interview data revealed that healthcare professionals have experience with digital technologies, moreover, they are willing to use other more advanced technologies that are, wireless, accurate and enable remote and real-time monitoring of patients. According to the healthcare professionals, the benefits of sensor-based networks are: recording patient’s vital signs for longer periods of time; facilitating clinical decision-making; and helping them in providing better treatment which will have a positive impact in the patient’s life. This study confirms that trainings provided to medical personnel before the application of the digital platforms in healthcare helped them to easily adapt these technologies. Furthermore, it did not appear that age was a problem to use digital monitoring technologies in healthcare. Nevertheless, healthcare professionals confirmed that possible limitations for providing distance-based monitoring in developing regions and giving feedback is related to patient’s education and maturity to obey to doctor’s suggestions, doctor’s commitments and available time and the financial aspect of communicating with a patient at a distance.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128001268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, this information must be consistent, secure and available to health professionals, even though health data is usually distributed across heterogeneous systems. The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was proposed and applied to minimize integration problems through the construction of health information systems. This work proposes a methodology for the development of interoperable and flexible systems, using the EHRServer framework of the OpenEHR standard. As a case study, this methodology has been applied in Aracati/CE since March / 2017, in the context of the Chikungunya disease. The methodology is supported by a system that implements a set of OpenEHR archetypes representing the clinical treatment of Chikungunya. The system was tested in a Basic Health Unit. The archetypes and the MARCIA Templates were made available to the Clinical Knowledge Manager (CKM), the largest online repository of archetypes on the Web.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131375843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Scotland alone, over 800,000 people are affected by chronic pain to varying degrees [1]. The experience of living with, and delivering treatment and care for chronic pain therefore requires a management strategy that responds effectively within a complex context. Management strategies should be interdisciplinary and take into account the many stakeholders involved, including the person experiencing chronic pain. This paper outlines the role for visualisation and machine learning to support people to make sense of data and enable the translation of the complexity around chronic pain towards better management, and in particular self-management.","PeriodicalId":232709,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 20th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Applications and Services (Healthcom)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131013813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
