Agarwal","doi":"10.1109/SeFet48154.2021.9375643","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SeFet48154.2021.9375643","url":null,"abstract":"It is well known that common mode voltage (CMV) in power inverters is responsible for various critical issues like EMI, leakage current, grid current distortion etc. This paper presents a novel technique to eliminate common mode voltage (CMV) in single phase multilevel inverters (MLI) by inserting a 3rd leg in the power stage The third inverter leg or arm is used to address the issue of CMV in single phase MLIs. A generalized solution for MLI to eliminate CMV using 3rd leg arm is presented. The given solution is applied to a 5-level inverter by providing it with a third arm. A novel PWM strategy is also proposed to operate the proposed topology with CMVE. A simulation model of the proposed scheme is developed in PLECS software. Various simulation results are presented to justify the various claims. The utilization of energy from renewables i.e. solar photovoltaic (PV) array and wind generation support the grid and reduce the electricity cost. Here, in this work, a dual mode transfer scheme is adopted so that in the absence of the grid or power failure, the control shifts from the current control mode to a standalone operating mode. The inception of operating modes are enabled according to the signal provided to the static transfer switches (STS). The grid interconnection along with energy storage provided to the microgrid, offers significant benefits of curbing renewable intermittency of the solar PV array and wind generation. The power quality (PQ) improvement along with energy surety and sufficiency are perceived by managing local load support. The bias compensated improved affine projection like (BC-IAPL) adaptive filter is utilized in the grid connected mode of operation i.e. current control, while the modified proportional resonant (MPR) controller assisted by dual modified generalized integrator-based phase locked loop (DMGI-PLL) is utilized in standalone mode i.e. voltage control. The modified sensorless scheme adopted to estimate the speed and rotor position of the wind generator, reduces the cost of mechanical sensors. Good dynamic performance is obtained for LFC-DR from past studies when tuned with conventional Controllers. An attempt was made to analyze the effect of communication delay latency with Series Compensator for the load frequency with Demand Response (LFC-DR) model. Here the Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) is used, thus forming TCSC-LFC-DR model. A real time simulation was done by TCSC, from which the output and input values are obtained. The application of using TCSC in the system is modeled by System Identification Tool box. Rational approximations are used for power system dynamics linearization with 5th order. The gains of the PID controller are Fuzzified using intelligent controllers for the better understanding of the dynamic performance of LFC-DR model. Maximum power point algorithm is one of the promising solution to harness maximum energy from the renewable energy source. The study represented in this paper comprises comparative analysis of two MPPT algorithms which is used in standalone wind energy system to extract maximum power from the wind. The comparative analysis is done for Variable current perturbation MPPT algorithm and Variable step P & O MPPT algorithm. The variable current perturbation algorithm and variable step perturbation algorithm is simulated and the performance is studied with the fixed pitch angle and variations in the pitch angle. The electrical parameter like voltage and current is sensed for current perturbation algorithm and angular speed and shaft power is sensed in case of variable step perturbation algorithm. The variable current perturbation algorithm senses MPPT using electrical parameters and the variable step perturbation senses mechanical parameters. Integration of DG changes the direction of power flow and level of fault current that makes protection of microgrid very challenging. DG integrated through power electronics (PE) converters can decrease or increase fault current level, based upon the location of DG. Due to this existing protection schemes may not work properly or fails to operate. Thus, the selection and design of proper protection scheme is very important for maintaining system reliability. The presented work is based upon the various microgrid protection issues and to implement a suitable protection scheme which works in both grids connected and islanded mode. A novel technique is proposed to design and analysis undervoltage and directional overcurrent relays protection with suitable settings for the microgrid system. Proper relay coordination for protection of microgrid in both islanding and grid connected modes of operation is shown. The speed control of them is traditionally achieved through the voltage control using a potentiometric divider. Recently, an energy efficient method of their speed control is used with a TRIAC based voltage controller. The constructional design of SPIM is such that there exists odd space harmonics along with tripplen harmonics. This leads to a high torque ripple in the motor leading to noise and vibration. Moreover, the use of a TRIAC based voltage controller induces time harmonics aggravating these problems. The PTC Configuration used here is a basic solenoid/combined Helmholtz coil and PRC used here is 3D PRC which enables the different Orientations of Capsule all through the Small Intestine. The PTE is about 0.02-3.5% range and that too in the worst misaligned position it was observed as 1.088% operating at 246 KHz frequency. In retail energy market, there are multiple choices for end-users based on their bidding price, reliability, power quality and mutual agreements. The participants take timely information from the market and can make and prepare for strategies to get more and more benefits. The consumers can adjust their loads based on various offers and price signals from the market since the aim of the consumers is to buy cheaper energy with acceptable quality. Every particular area is fed by a number of distribution feeders consisting of consumers having different consumption patterns. To take advantage of this diversity and hence to improve the load factors of individual distribution feeders, the loads can be aggregated through feeder reconfiguration. The higher value of load factor attracts the suppliers and hence the bargaining power of consumers increases. This paper illustrates the aggregation of loads through feeder reconfiguration for improvement of load factor. The losses before and after reconfiguration are calculated and total cost of energy supply are compared. Three feeder network from Patan substation of Nepal Electricity Authority is considered for analysis. Binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) as an optimization technique is used since the problem of reconfiguration is binary type of problem.
