Banks’ deficiency in the period between 1991 and 2011 and a subsequent loss of depositor’s funds first prompted our attention. The instability of the industry felt even today calls for further research to understand the underlying causes of such issues better. Three Nigerian Deposit Money Banks were financially analyzed using data set for the period between 1991 and 2014. The banks were classified as very strong, strong, and weak. For instance, GT Bank was classified as very strong, UBA as strong, and Polaris bank as weak. Data were collected from the banks’ annual financial reports. Other sources were included, such as CBN Annual Reports and NSE Fact Books. Logistic regression analysis was performed on the data set. The model correctly predicted 87.5% of periods in which the banks were expected to experience financial distress and 93.8% of periods in which the banks were supposed to be in good financial state. Out of the five ratios that were used in the study, three turned out to be significant in predicting banks’ financial distress. This research constructed a model of financial ratios to predict difficulty with great success. Thus, stakeholders are advised to go beyond assessing the present status of banks, i.e., their strengths and weaknesses, but to utilize financial ratios in the near future. The study recommends that bank management should focus more on generating more earnings with the assets at their disposal.","PeriodicalId":231867,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129768694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over the period 2015/16 to 2018/19 Metrorail implemented its corporate plan to improve operations efficiency. This study applies the Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI) to compare the performance efficiency of the three Metrorail subunits over the study period. The results indicate the variation of productivity levels amongst Metrorail subunits. Furthermore, output-oriented scale efficiency scores are used to measure the optimal scale situation of each Metrorail subunit. It is concluded that largely the KwaZulu-Natal subunit seems to be more efficient when compared to the other two subunits over the full period under analysis. Therefore, in the cognition of the relatively large size of the Gauteng and Western Cape subunits and their concomitant inefficiency levels, the findings suggest that Metrorail management should focus on correcting their inefficiencies while also considering alteration of their size to optimize production.","PeriodicalId":231867,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126290100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This borderless educational world provides students opportunities to select and follow a study programme anywhere in the world. The resulting international classrooms create challenges and opportunities for international study programmes in preparing their diverse student populations for the demands posed by today’s fast-paced (business) environment. The teacher plays a pivotal role in accommodating the increasingly diverse student body and facilitating learning while being mindful of different learning styles, expectations and needs. Whereas initially the consequences of having an international classroom was taken for granted, higher education institutions have increasingly become aware that it involves more than offering the curriculum in English. In this study we explore the linkages between the student diversity, in terms of self-reported nationality, ethnicity and native language, affective learning and teacher credibility in the context of international classrooms. A key objective of this study was to check the reliability of the measurement items and scales for use in research pertaining to international classrooms. For this study, data was collected from 183 students following the International Business programme at an undergraduate level at one of the most international Universities of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. The study sample had students from 35 different countries with the Dutch (42%) and German (19%) students constituting the largest group. The sample was divided into two groups: those with the same ethnicity, nationality and native language as the teacher (student-teacher congruence), and those who were different (student-teacher incongruence). The results of this research suggest that the measurement tools for teacher credibility and affective learning are valid, whereas the tool for nonverbal immediacy did not prove reliable. In addition, the theory-driven hypotheses were not supported as no significant difference was found between the scores of affective learning and teacher credibility between the two different groups of students.","PeriodicalId":231867,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123876349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Coordination, competition and cooperation are the three main types of strategic interactions. Coordination, despite its importance in structuring business interactions and its impact on firm performance, remains an understudied phenomenon, with the bulk of the research on business interactions focusing on competition and cooperation, and, more recently, on their simultaneous use in coopetition. However, growing complexity and specialization of enterprises increase coordination needs and call for renewed academic interest in the topic. Advances in digitalization and the rise of Industry 4.0, predicated on the growing interconnectedness and interdependence of technologies and business organizations, make the topic of coordination more relevant than ever before. The aim of this paper is to present a simplified model of coordination reflecting both the demands of Industry 4.0, and the possibilities it creates. Following the established conceptualizations of coordination, the model has two main components – interdependencies and coordination mechanisms. However, the conventional models presented the relationship as direct and unidirectional, with interdependencies viewed as given and the mechanisms of coordination as organizational responses aimed at achieving coordination. In contrast to the traditional approach, we allow for two-way causality between interdependencies and coordination mechanisms, as the latter not only are set to manage existing interdependencies, but also can elicit specific interdependencies, particularly those connectivity- and communication-related, as these are needed to induce all parties to follow the overall or common goal. ICT plays a central role in the model as mediating in managing interdependencies. Finally, the Industry 4.0-related public policy is recognized as capable of affecting business organizations’ ability to effectively manage interdependencies.","PeriodicalId":231867,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION","volume":"29 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125627534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relationships between Privacy risk concerns, benefit to disclose, trust, and willingness to provide personal information has been tested using SPSS. An online questionnaire in Arabic language was used collect data by distributing survey link via WhatsApp, Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram. The sample consists out of 268 respondents. The results of the study indicate that trust has a positive impact on the privacy disclosure revenue whereas privacy risk concerns have a negative impact on the benefits of privacy disclosure. Also the privacy disclosure revenue has a positive impact on the willingness to disclose personal information. Users will increase the quantity and quality of information disclosure when the perceived benefit of personal information disclosure is high. The study also suggests that trust has a positive impact on the willingness to disclose personal information, and the user’s degree of trust in government protection policies and information environment will directly disclose the user’s information. Finally, privacy risk concerns have a negative impact on the willingness to disclose personal information, reduce the user’s perception of the risk of the policy environment and technical environment, and will increase the willingness of users to disclose personal information. The domination of the financial sphere about the real sphere is defined as financialization. The inflation of financial instruments, derivatives, in particular, is indicated among the symptoms of financialization. Financialization about companies is associated with the growing importance of financial motives in the decision-making processes of enterprises. The enlarging pressure of financial markets and investors forces transformations in the value management process. Companies raising capital from share issues are evaluated by investors (shareholders). In turn, management is entrusted to hired managers whose evaluation depends on the current results. To meet the requirements of the owners (shareholders), they stop taking into account the long-term development of a given undertaking and focus on achieving the required rate of return in the short term. Therefore, they limit their operational activities, and in particular long-term investment activities, in favour of short-term financial activities. They use derivatives as one of the forms of short-term profit generation. Their use is characterized by a relatively high level of risk resulting from the use of leverage in their construction. It also results in potential profits (or losses) many times higher than the capital employed. The purpose of this paper is to examine whether non-financial enterprises operating in Poland use derivatives in value management. The research was based on the analysis of indicators identifying the role of derivatives in the enterprise and determining their impact on the ROE ratio as a measure of value for shareholders. For this purpose, the financial statements of non-financial enterprises published in Poland by the Central Statistical Office for the years 2010-2017 were used.","PeriodicalId":231867,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION","volume":"826 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116421505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is important to measure customer satisfaction towards online shopping, since satisfied customers will make repetitive purchases and provide recommendations to others, thus generating the profit for a particular e-commerce company. Customer satisfaction towards online shopping can significantly be influenced by website service quality, hence many of the previous studies set up to show the relationship between website service quality and customer satisfaction. But still, limited literature has been focused on the mediating effects of the confirmation of customer expectation on the relationship between website service quality and customer satisfaction. Hence, the aim of this study is to measure customer satisfaction based on the website service quality with confirmation of customer expectation. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed to online customers who are working in the private banks in Bangladesh. Our of 500, a total of 342 questionnaires were used for further analysis, representing a response rate of 68.40%. The hypothesis for direct effect was tested by regression analysis using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The result of the study revealed that website service quality has a significant and positive relationship with confirmation of customers’ expectations and in turn, their satisfaction level towards online shopping. Implications and directions for future research are also highlighted in this present study.","PeriodicalId":231867,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116904116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
