A common request made of cardiologists is to perform a transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) in patients with CIEDs who have documented bacteremia. These patients may be complex and may not have obvious pocket-related CIED infections. The basic premise for a TEE in this setting is often to determine optimal management of the patient as clinical strategies can vary considerably. The focus of the present limited review is to examine what can be expected and offered from performing TEEs in the setting of bacteremia in a patient with a CIED.","PeriodicalId":231586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Medical – Clinical Research & Reviews","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126939106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They present in the form of a single nodular lesion and are rarely found on the female genital organs. Schwannomas are generally benign, seldom becoming malignant. When present in the vulva, the incidence is higher in patients of 20 to 40 years of age. Case Presentation: This report describes the case of a 73-year old woman with a single tumorous lesion on her vulva. The lesion was mobile, non-inflammatory and practically painless. Surgical resection was followed by investigation by histopathology and immunohistochemistry, with findings confirming a diagnosis of schwannoma. Conclusion & Significance: Identifying the characteristics of schwannomas is of crucial importance when investigating differential diagnoses of vulvar pathologies. Clinical history and a thorough physical examination help ensure adequate management and correct diagnosis of the condition, with the definitive diagnosis being obtained following histopathology and immunohistochemistry.","PeriodicalId":231586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Medical – Clinical Research & Reviews","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117109684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Malignant tissue and cells in contrast to normal cell often showed increased rate of glycolysis for rapid proliferation, due to increased number of glucose transporter protein and increased intracellular hexokinase and phosphokinase levels [1,2]. It is known that mutated G6P3 is associated with severe neutropenia in addition to congenital heart defects, but little is known about the histological changes in cardiac tissue as a result of mutated or deleted G6PC34. Objectives: We sought to further characterize the histological alterations caused by deleted G6PC3 and determine the role of collagen deposition, myocyte proliferation and apoptosis in these changes. Methods: Cardiac tissue from G6PC3 knockout mice and WT mice were harvested, imbedded and stained for markers of collagen (Trichrome), proliferation (KI-67), apoptosis (caspase 3) and hematopoietic stem cells (CD34). Slides were digitally uploaded, and Leica stain quantification was calculated. Results: We demonstrated that in G6PC3 knock out adult mice have significant differences in heart morphology including decreased left ventricular collagen, decreased cellular proliferation and increased apoptosis histologically. Conclusions: As compared to wild type, the hearts of G6PC3 knockout mice demonstrated significantly decreased collagen globally, a crucial component for adequate strength and contractility of myocardial tissue. More investigation should be done to further explore the functional effects of such alterations via echocardiograms.","PeriodicalId":231586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Medical – Clinical Research & Reviews","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130596149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
